The University of Arcane Science was shedding some of its mystery by the Opening of Jaedaxia’s Gates, presenting itself of the public with its arcane ingress at the Socrates University. Yet it was beset first by the Aetherfracture, rendering it defunct, and then, after the Shattering of the Unbinding Stone and the Return of Arcana, it was plagued by fears of the Rakrya, and the actions of one Prefect Roland Moonstar reversed that process of opening up to the public. In Alleria Prime, the Empire’s capital, the Rakrya, led by Julos the Mad, had seized power, ending the Regency of Alexander Nighthawk and the Interregency, while introducing mageocracy to the Allerian Empire.

With these events came the Shattering of the Unbinding Stone. The catastrophic nova that was the product unbound all who had once practised Arcana with the aid of the Aethergem and as the mages began to regain their abilities, suspicious against them blossomed throughout the realm because of the Rakrya. In Jaedaxia, this culminated when Prefect Roland Moonstar issued a Writ of Malfeasance against the Arcana University, charging the faculty with plotting to overthrow the Jaedaxian government and establishing a Rakryan, mageocratic regime in the city. The Jaedaxians believed their prefect, and shunned the mages. Their university was to be shut down.

This in addition to the fact that Juan used Roland's Edict agains the rebelling Jaedaxians as justification for the Imperial Invasion. If ever a man was persona non grata somewhere, it would be Roland in Jaedaxia. At least that's my OOC opinion on the matter.
