[Servants & Underlings] - Whispers & Rumours

((OOC: This is a thread designed for the spreading of rumours and whispers, that might get around. Some of it will be able NPCs you have not met yet, some of it will be about PCs. Some of it will be misinformation & utterly untrue, some of it will hint at the truth as an ordinary servant might see it. Please do not post to this thread - as I am 'moderating' the forum as a whole, and what becomes rumour is partly my prerogative. If I think you might object to the 'servant rumour', I will likely PM you first before hand. Likewise, you can also chose whether your own character hears about this rumour or not; perhaps you are new to the Imperial City, and your servants haven't bonded with you enough to pass on gossip.))

The Imperial City, also known as the Imperial Forum, was populated by the rich, the powerful, and the influential; but people in power inevitably require minions, underlings, maids, and servants. They require help in their daily life, often not because they as people are incapable of washing their own clothes, but because polite society deems it indecorous if a man or woman of such power and privilege must dress themselves.

Of course, even the lowly Lictors were often noble by birth, and kept house in other parts of Prime, but there was a steady stream of servants going to and fro in the Imperial City. Lowly apprentice scribes would whisper of suspicious documents that passed through their hands, visitors to the Imperial Palace were invariably known about within a candlemark of their arrival; new appointments would be discussed in kitchens and laundry rooms all over the Citadel. Not all of it held even a whisper of truth though; in Fortress Anna, the strict prison, the rumours were much more scandalous and bawdy then in the Chancellory.

However, such rumours, tend to get everywhere, even back to the ears of the new Imperial Elite. Certainly into the clutches of the Old Guard nobility, and those ever present scribes & historians working under the Imperial Chronicler and the Imperial Bard.
