“It is true that is the Legion left the city would be undermanned, however there obviously needs to be more faith placed in the hands of its commander. Nimas would not send every legionary out of the city. This is the Capital of Centripax and as such it will always have a garrison of provincial troops to assist where needed. Especially if something like Martial Law needs to be initiated. I am not disagreeing with anything you are saying, I’m simply looking at the short term picture as well as the long term. You need trained men quickly. You’re not going to get them by recruiting from the refugees. You will need at least a season if not two to train recruits into guards. I know, I’ve trained regiments in the Legions and I’ve trained the Knights. Not even the Veldar is able to train recruits in less than a season.” He changed the subject slightly now.
”Anyway, you know all of that.” He chuckled. ”I’m just concerned and more than willing to assist, Keldon. You know how I work. I’ve only grown more stubborn and set in my ways as the eras have passed, though now I have a little bit of experience to back me up. I would advise a great deal of caution when changing the Phoenix Legion Garrison in the Hidden City to a Guard Garrison. That place is a hot bed of crime warfare just waiting for the opportunity to pounce on an easy target. Perhaps dressing some Legion force in guard’s uniforms for the first few months would be the best option, show them that the Guard is just as tough as the Legions before putting in the real Guards.” He paused and then asked the next question on his mind.
”When are you planning to initiate the recruitment drive for the Guard?”
