“Z’kron,” Erenthril grinned as his quasi-druid friend seemingly stepped out of some strange orange haze… another offshoot of his biology studies, no doubt. The Elementalist couldn’t help but rub the back of his neck sheepishly, the odd thought of just where he’d discovered the Imperial Sage bouncing around inside his head. Z’kron was, by far, the most unusual druid he’d ever had the pleasure of meeting, and the airship was a testament to it. So many intricate little designs fed into it; albeit the dracon couldn’t very well enchant just yet, his growing theories and groundwork laid into them were just as good as.

“That it does,” a candid nod and smile to Milo answered the Regent’s question. Turns on a silver indeed. Stepping around to the helm of the ship and rolling up his sleeves, he casually gestured for everyone – Rosemen especially – to step up on the third deck with him and gather around. The last thing he wanted was someone jumping off the side of the ship and getting incinerated into little ashes at the bottom once the enchantments were activated.

“I’ll let Lord Z’kron explain the wings after takeoff,” Eren spoke, turning around to Milo and clapping his friend on the shoulder, tugging him forward up towards the orbs, “but you’ll get a firsthand account of how to fly this beauty. These orbs are enchanted with multiple glyphs that are touch activated to control the ship. Simply touching them won’t do anything – you have to glide your hand over it. They’re fairly smooth,” Eren spoke as he reached over and placed his hand on the left hand obsidian orb. Ever so slowly, he began edging it forward.

Milo, Z’kron, Eren, the two sorcerers and Sir James & Co. felt the effect immediately. There was a sudden pulse emitted from the ship itself, as if it were indeed alive now, very much so. “It’ll get a little warm – that’s just the heat flying up from the bottom. The hull’s immune to fire… so no worrying,” the Elementalist smiled, moving his hand a little further up the orb. There was no blasts of arcanic energy or supersonic booms of any sort; no… rather, if one were to look over the edge of the ship they’d notice vast amounts of fire seemingly manifesting from nowhere. A conflagration that would incinerate a living man and engulf entire mansions in flame. Naturally it would make sense now why the ground in the small coliseum was charred, and better yet, why Erenthril had made sure everyone was on board the ship before takeoff.

It took only a few more seconds before the ship lurched upwards, rising first from the bow and then from the stern as heat lifted it vertically up off the ground. He’d let Z’kron explain the mechanics of why the wood was so light and positively inclined to do just what it was doing, but for now, the Elementalist waited until they had cleared the dome of the coliseum (sufficiently) before placing his right hand on the right orb. His smile similar to that of an over exuberant little child, with a gentle touch Erenthril moved his hand over the orb… simultaneous to the ship’s sudden propulsion of energy from behind.

It was a soft glide, to be honest, and Erenthril was hardly moving his hand whatsoever. Given the size of the ship, the Elf hadn’t exactly tested it for the speeds he was used to travelling when it was just him and his body, but knew it boasted quite a bit of kick to it. That wasn’t necessary for now though.

The ship took to the air magnificently, spinning off of its vertical takeoff and shooting off in a wide arc that quickly passed over the Colliseum as Eren circled Z’kron’s large estate. They were travelling fast – far more faster than any other means of transportation up until this point had allowed, teleportation aside – and more to the point: the ride was smooth. There was no bucking of the ship, no choppiness of the air waves – it was as if they were hardly even moving. They could breathe just fine as well, given the pressure aspects of Erenthril’s spell that were… well, fundamental to surviving in altitudes and speeds such as this.

There wasn’t so much as a breeze breaking through the pressure barrier, though Erenthril could tell it was rather windy. His right hand steadily guided the ship’s direction as it flew over the countryside. In no time at all Z’kron’s wings would unlock and the ship would be allowed more of a glide rather than direct acceleration, but for now the Elementalist enjoyed the cerulean blue skies and puffy white clouds they occasionally dipped through. The low buzz of the spell activated behind them was apparent, though not necessarily distracting when one became accustomed to it. Eren was rather certain he could cast a quiescent spell over it and rid himself of the noise all together.

“What do you think?” Eren asked Milo, tossing a wink to Z’kron whom had flew upon it with him on its maiden voyage. It certainly gave a different perspective to a ‘bird’s eye view’.
