Annalina could not help but stare with wide eyes at her surroundings. Ever since she'd entered Mystique, the city had offered her one miracle after another, as though she were undergoing a constant enlightenment. Certainly Carmelya wanted it this way.
And so it came to her as a minor disappointment when she saw that the Goddess wasn't represented at this Tower, the one she had felt bidden to enter, the place she was told she would begin her path to a closer understanding of Life itself. But the disappointment was but slight; her Goddess couldn't be depicted on every single structure in the entire city after all!
Taking a deep breath, she quietly squeezed through the doors. Seeing that the man was obviously rapt in his attention to his books, she approached respectfully, but stopped some paces away and said nothing. Patience was a virtue, after all, and it was better to be seen than heard. She clasped her hands together to stand and wait, contemplating the interior of the building.
Thus she had to stop herself from leaping into the air when he addressed her. The man's affable grin was the only thing that kept her from bolting entirely, and she did indeed instead come a few steps closer, though still trying to keep a respectful distance.
"Um, uh.. s-sorry, s-sir, to i-interupt..." she said, her voice light and airy, "b-but I was told to come here. Y-you see, I am here to s-serve, may it please the Gods, s-sir."
Oh dear, this just wasn't going as peachy as she hoped. The man no doubt thought she was a damn fool, stammering and stuttering like that! She bit her lip anxiously and focused her gaze on the floor as she waited, hoping she hadn't screwed this up entirely in one moment of idiocy.
