As the posh gang found its way to the Thane’s offices through familiar pathways they were greeted by a small number of esh’lahier; all bowing before the Regent. The middle man of the group was clearly in charge. His authority did not stem from his clothes only but also because of a hue of leadership that seemed to radiate from him. A scarred face with royal blue orbs regarded the human before him when he rose from his long and deep bow.

“Not at all Your Most Imperial Excellency.” The pale elf smiled cordially. “The timing of Your Most Imperial Excellency is in fact excellent. Today I have received the final blueprints of the Taralon Weapons Manufactory. If Your Most Imperial Excellency would follow me to my office…” He stood aside to allow the Regent’s bodyguards and then the man himself in if the former gave their approval. Malkaer carried as always a dagger in his right boot should the knights decide to search the elf once accused for treason. “I hope Your Most Imperial Excellency will forgive me for directing the letter to the Vicegerent; it seemed more appropriate considering I have had the pleasure of meeting the noble lady du’Galle in person.”

Inside the office an additional table was placed specially for the occasion. A dozen chairs surrounded it, the most decorated one reserved for the Regent, who was positioned on the right side of the host, who sat at the head of the table. The other places were allocated according to rank. Once everyone was properly seated Malkaer made the common offer. “Can I offer Your Most Imperial Excellency or any of you Sirs a beverage?”
