The last Days of Trysvale? [Open to all]

20th Aperitus Era XIV

For mid - summer the weather was atrocious the previous cycle had seen lashing rain raging winds and a temperature drop of ten degree. The fishing fleet were forced into harbour, farmers watched and prayed that their precious crops would be saved .Those who could stayed at home and waited patiently for the storm to pass over but for ten brightenings the clouds built into monstrous stacks of angry black mountains of rain and wind .The citizens were living in a world of rain lashed gloom.

The two giants Titus and Athos Chasmbreaker were the first to notice. They were unaffected by the gales and rain and their great size made them very useful in erecting boards over high windows as a guard against the unusual weather. Something made Titus turn his head towards the sea and far out in the ocean a strange golden glow seemed to be floating on the top of the sea .They watched this phenomenon with open mouths curious and not a little afraid.

brother said Titus doest thou think that this phenomena is somewhat unusual?….Aye brother I do agree with thou , never before have mine eyes seen such a sight , do thou think that it may be good practise to inform someone in authority?

The brothers debated this point in long slow sentences their eyes never wavering from the ocean and the strange glow. By the brothers reckoning it was nigh on a mile from the dockside and even for giants eyesight it was clear that the glow was growing by the quarter candlemark. The wind was increasing in velocity and rain was sweeping in nigh on horizontally but despite the thickening clouds the orange glow was still clear as if it was the centre of the eye of the hurricane.

Perhaps other people saw the birth, maybe some hardy fool who ventured out on an errand too important to delay risking life and limb in the howling gale, but it was the giants who bore first witness.

A decision was made and Athos set off towards the Lady Thanes residence leaving his brother to a lonely cold wet vigil on the dockside. The reception at the Thanal manor was cool a servant informed the giant that the thane was not in the habit of receiving visitors without prior written application. Athos in his slow rumbling way insisted and standing towering over the unfortunate servant he explained patiently about the glowing orange phenomena a mile off the coast and that in their opinion it was growing.

Wheels turn and information was assimilated, decisions taken and notes written , messengers braved the appalling weather and all the important people of Trysvale were informed in clipped no nonsense notes that they should assemble without delay on the dockside of the harbour

The lady thane was there sitting behind the darkened windows of her jet black carriage she could see that the giants had not lied or exaggerated, there was a widening orange glow in the ocean a mile off shore. What it meant even the Lady Glory was at a loss to explain this was beyond anything she had seen in her long and seriously nasty life.

OOC ~ Please note in Trysvale the rumour mill works at a fantastic rate anyone who joins this thread will know about the orange glow, remember its ghastly weather so wrap up warm. Any posts in Trysvale T/S between 10th and 20th Aperitus should reflect the weather where appropriate.
