Crown (currency)

The Gold Crown (usually referred to as "Crown", and sometimes abbreviated as "gc" or "cr") is the Coin of the Realm for Aelyria. Sanctioned as the only legal Currency in the land, the Crown is issued biannually by the Mints in Aelyria Prime and Portshire, distributed by the Moneychanger. Renowned for its stability, the head is beveled with the image of the Sovereign with the words Lex Ordo Iustitia encircling; the tail has a blazon of the Coat of Arms and a Warbird with the word Aeternium.

Denominations

As the principal coin, it serves as the basis for all commerce and transactions in Aelyria. One Crown can be denominated into the following greater and lesser denominations:

1 Crown = 10 Silvers
1 Crown = 100 Coppers
1 Aureus = 25 Crowns

One can buy a cheque from any office of the Bank of Aelyria, and carry this writ with you to exchange for actual coinage in another branch office. Cheques are good for travellers. Because you must sign the cheque and have it stamped when you purchase it, then must sign it again when you want to redeem it, a cheque for any amount is useless to a highwayman. It is far safer than carrying trunks of coins.
