The Barbarians noticed the weapon and nodded approvingly. Here was a man who knew how to handle things. Ryan sat in the offered chair, while Kevin took a protective position behind him. The Elven Commander noticed the silver howling wolf pendants around each Warrior’s neck as they moved. Ryan, in typical Fianna fashion, got right to the point. “We’re here ta be seein’ about yer intentions in Archadoon, we are,” he said in a musical accent. “As ye know, Archadoon had a major disaster not long ago, an’ most o’ th’ shops were destroyed. We’re rebuildin’, but we make slow progress. We Fiannas make good wilderness soldiers, but we’re not cut out fer city patrollin’.”
The Fianna diplomat took a breath, but before he could continue, Kevin spoke up. “Th’ ruins also are a menace. We lost many fine Warriors when they escorted workers inside to rebuild th’ damage. Th’ witnesses who survived tell us th’ walking dead roam the ruins, and while we cordoned off th’ ruins, we haven’t th’ manpower ta clear th’ dead out. We need ta be clearin’ th’ foul beasts out.” Ryan glared at the man for speaking out of turn, but Kevin continued on as though he didn’t see. “Th’ reason fer our visit, lad, is ta see what yer intentions are in this city durin’ this emergency.”
