"A pleasure to meet you Azuri," she said again, slightly surprised that the flower was now perched on her finger. She didn't know what she had expected, that it would reach out with a leaf and shake her hand like a gaje?
Her hand moved closer to her face, drawing the flower in so that Nessani could get a better look. Her other hand came up and one finger rubbed lightly at the flower's sepal. Animals seemed to like being scratched behind their ears, but lacking ears, Ness couldn't be entirely certain that the flower would feel the same pleasure.
She nodded solemnly in response to its request, inwardly amused by the flowers mannerisms. "I surely will. Only the weeds."
"You must be awfully thirsty, with as hot as this city gets. Would you like a drink from the fountain?" she asked politely, wondering if there were any other ways - other than the offer of water - to manipulate a little flower into liking someone enough to tell them more. She walked on the tips of her toes, careful only to step away from the flowers as she moved toward the fountain, sitting down on its rim.
The many theories offered brought a smile to her lips. A thief. A princess. A beggar. They all encompassed some part of her, she thought, as she watched them swarm around her ankles. They reminded her of children and she found herself tempted to tell them stories - of thieves and princesses and beggars - to entertain their curious natures.
"Why that's precisely why I'm here," Ness continued in a honeyed tone, turning to face the bud on her finger. It wasn't really, but the thief in her couldn't pass up a chance to see what treasures the lantern would alight. "Miss Maisie asked me to help her find her lantern," she lied. "But... how does one go about finding something unseen?"
