Outside Le Refuge de l’Artiste a mime plied his trade. Dressed in a striped shirt and with trousers and boots that were raven-black, face as white as the Everwinter snow, eyes and lips painted such, so did he saunter about, quite literally making a fool of himself.

Normally such an event would not arouse suspicion. This was Jaedexia after all, where culture and the arts reigned supreme, and was sometimes seen as the pinnacle of true civilization. His presence was thus respected, if not highly tolerated, particularly by those belonging to the cultural literati, no matter how impoverished they may be in these most trying times.

At first, he stood there on the pavement, as still as a statue, and then began walking about as if he were but a normal citizen, stopping in midstride only to reverse himself somewhat comically, soon (as was his craft) pantomiming the actions of other passerby, whether it be just gazing about, purchasing fruit from a carter, or staring at him.

Soon he began running into imaginary walls, and trying to get himself out of the predicament he was in. He couldn't seem to find a way out, and the puzzlement was certainly showing in his face.

An odd little creature, without a doubt, but such was the life of a mime.
