Civilized. There weren't many left in this city that would agree with that notion of Imperia. For although this was a place of stone and mortar, it was as wild as any of the Empires most dangerous frontier lands. Yes, the vast majority of the citizens hearts had seen to that. The dark city by the bay, it was infamous throughout the Empire as a place where anyone could make a quick buck if they possessed a lack of morality and perhaps a quick blade. Not to say there wasn't a bastion of light in the darkness here and there, but such rarities were few and far between. No, this was Imperia; city of all sorts of thieves, pirates, and con-men.
The first sight would be the vague outline of city walls, slowly growing in the distance. Mighty in construction and proud within their purpose the not-so-long ago built fortifications sought to keep others out. Or perhaps, to keep some in. It was hard to say. As the vessel approached closer and closer, docks and piers jutted out of the land, defiant as they stretched into the sea like legs on spiders. Gulls and other winged ones cawed in the sky, welcoming or warning those who approached, depending on your perspective of the city itself. Another few minutes and one could see the dockhands and others walking the piers, tending to ships or unfolding nets and rope for voyages not yet fulfilled. This, as the salt air licked the dorins fur, was a new beginning. A new life perhaps.
Several other ships of all kinds were docked here already, from lowly fishing boats with one sail and nets draped about, to bigger corsairs of shadier people who didn't have to work for a living. Upon touching down it wasn't long before the shore patrol and others came to inspect both visa's and various ship papers. No one came or went from the docks without their notice, for these were the brave men who patrolled entry from the sea. If the dorin would only show his visa to the stoic shore patrolmen and declare his weapons and business, he would be waved on to enter the city. The ship of course, had to be inspected for cargo that might be smuggled, but certainly Orkashak didn't have to stick around for that if he didn't want to.
From here, where wooden piers swayed gently in the cresting waters of the docks and the salt air was palatable the Dorin had access to Imperia; the dark city by the bay. There were many places that were hiring, both official and un-official. Not far stood an idle fisherman, gently puffing on his pipe as he stood on the docks looking out to the sea. Also nearby was the armed shore patrolman, casting a suspicious eye to the ship as he inspected the papers. Of course, all around were various people coming to and fro, intent upon the brightening work. In the distance above a group of seagulls cried loudly, circling the nearby fishing boat greedily.
This was the docks of Imperia, industrial hub of the city.
(ooc: Welcome to Imperia Orkashak! Don't get killed! Also, I need a timestamp for this thread. Please consult this thread on information on timestamping. Thanks!)
