Eren’s eyes narrowed in quiet cynicism at their response. It was highly unlikely that Heronythys had cast a spell upon this entire castle that was sentient enough to renew itself and draw power from its respective plane. All spells died eventually. There was no such thing as a ‘permanent’ spell, not of this particular variety, and certainly not of this caliber. Something was continually powering the spell, serving as an anchor to the Elemental Plane of Water which enabled it to draw upon all of the energies it was depleting as the weaves of Mana dissipated into the Physical Plane.

The question was what.

He’d noticed earlier, within the very structure of the room he’d been housed, that the weaves that had formed never dissipated back into their original Plane. Which meant the spell was in action now. Which meant that in order to have this anchor, someone or something was undoubtedly the channel to the Elemental Plane.

He suddenly became suspicious of the two Elementals standing before them. Ice Elementals. Perfect for maintaining an environment as such, and no doubt still able to draw power from their own plane. Scions? “What exactly are you not allowed to do?” he asked casually as he began to scrutinize them much more closely. It wasn’t entirely unfeasible for a pair of Elementals to continually maintain an entire castle made of Ice. Unbeknownst to Erenthril, a particular Elementalist had used this trick to accomplish an Everwinter that plagued Jaedaxia for seasons.

If they were responsible for being the channel to the Elemental Plane, and were thus feeding the Castle itself by replenishing the essence…well, he’d certainly notice.
