Abestat soldiers called up for training

Dundridge walks into the Commander's office, having recieved a summons. He looks around at the other assembled sargeants and wonders what is going on. The Commander speaks.
"As you have no doubt heard by now, we are preparing for the Festival. Each one of you will be placed in charge of a detachment of 250 soldiers. Your orders are to train them by any means necessary for this Festival. I am not expecting trouble, but only a fool believes that there will be none." He then looks at each of the assembled Sargeants. "Some of you will get promotions out of this. Others will not. This is a great responsibility that is being placed on you. That is all." He pauses.
"DISMISSED!"
There is a great sound as all the Sargeants stand and start for the door. Dundridge is one of the last to leave. He salutes the commander, then does a smart about face. He then marches out the door. He is thinking about the training he is about to be doing. How does one train 250 people? It seemed an impossible task. Then he remembered the words of his Father. "You don't have to like the orders, butr you must follow them. Fulfill them to the best of your abilities, and you will not fail."

Dundridge arrives at the Parade Grounds and looks at his assembled men. He is disgusted at the sloppyness of the men. He shakes his head, wondering if he can do this in time. This is going to take a lot of work. He looks out over the soldiers, and is amazed that they even made it this far.
"Attention!" He barks out. "I am Sargeant Dundridge! You are now under my command! And I will not tolerate any of the garbage I am seeing. Fall into ranks! IMMEDIATELY!" He pauses as he waits for any reaction. This is going to take a long time, he thought. These men didn't belong in his military, they belonged in some rag tag outfit at some desert out post.

Yarrow did not know what to do. She had just gotten word that she was being sent to Abestat to begin training...she had not had any training before this. So she did what anyone would do. She stood up tall and back stright and looked out of the corner of her eye to see what the others would do.

Dundridge looks at Yarrow, not impressed. He steps up to her and smirks in her face. "Is there a problem, Private?" He asks quietly. Then he shouts in her face. "When I call you to attention, your eyes are on me! Not on the others. Let me worry about them!" He then takes a step back. "You think this is funny? I am under orders to turn all of you into top notch soldiers. You will do what I say, when I say it. I tell you to jump, you jump first and THEN ask 'How high, sir?' Is this understood?"

Yes sir! Yarrow's eyes darted to the front now aware of what was expected of her. I have a feeling this is going to be a long day. She decided.

Dundridge walks around the group assembled, giving an inspection (OOC: I need to know what clothes the PCs are wearing, equipment carried, any other pertinent information) He returns to the front of the group, and looks at the female private. He points to her.
"You, what is your name, and what training do you have?" He looks over the resty of the troops, disgusted. He is about ready to hit some of them. Only one had come to attention. They expected him to make a fighting force out of these... Humans?????

ooc: I am wearing a standard field uniform and an iron ringmail tunic...they gave it to my character at the recruitment office... and as for weapons I have a dagger and an axe, but I do not know how to use them...sir

ic: My name is Yarrow Woodruff and I have had no training, sir. She was ashamed now for the little she knew, but she would never show it and made her face go smoothe with a mask she had used on her mother years before.

Dundridge nods. This one would be easier to train then someone with training. "Very well." He nods after taking a closer look at her uniform. "Your uniform looks fresh off the shelf. Why did you join the military?" He looks around to see what the other soldiers where doing.

Tho'Grak looks around the parade grounds and wnders were to report. He then hears orders being barked towards a group of soldiers. 'Well, I guess that is were I should be going right?' he thought while he walked up to Sargeant Dunridge and saluted "Sir, reporting for duty, sir. I am sorry I am late, I got held up by the guards at the gates sir."

Dundridge nods. It happened sometimes. He motions to the line, indicating to the man to get in line. He keeps his attention on Yarrow, but making sure that the others where not goofing off.
When Yarrow responded, Dundridge turns to Thomas, And repeats his questions. Name, training, why he joined. It was obvious to Dundridge that the man had recently joined the military as well.

"I am Thomas, I have not received any training and I joined the millitary to be able to defend myself and toher, Sir." He replied to his sargeants questions. Standing near the elf made him feel uncomfortable 'Well, i guess I found someone that does not like Humans... Hmm...'

I joined the military to learn what I can learn, sir. I love learning new things and it would also be goo to know how to defend myself, sir. She told him when he asked her why she had joined the military. She did not turn to look at the new comer, but she wanted to. She knew if she even tried to peek she would get a yelling for sure. So she looked right at her new teacher with a shielded face she knew all too well.

Dundridge nods. "Let this be a lesson to all of you. I will take what you tell me, and everyone will learn from it. My objective here is to prepare you for the festival. This will probably be a new experience for all of you, but we don't have a lot of time. Any questions?"

Keeva entered the site, intensely nervous and completely unaware of what was about to happen. Seeing a group of recruits, she wandered over, still clutching the dufflebag she had been issued a few days ago. Seeing an important looking man, she ambled over, not quite sure how she should act. She had never had a job before, and hurtling full throttle into a military life was a drastic change for her often timid personality.

Walking up to the sergeant, she attempted a salute, trying her best to look as much like the other soldiers as possible. In her opinion, as miffed and stern as possible.

‘Sir, this is Private Lasant reporting for duty, sir.’ She said in as loud and clear a voice as she could manage. The words seemed quite alien to her, coming from this small fragile frame, and she found she had to resist pulling aside an unruly strand of night dark hair away from her face, completely ruining the impression she was trying to obtain.
