Talking to the commander of the Abestat Militia (Ed, please. Private)
Dundridge knocks at the door of the Highest ranking officer, somewhat nervous. He has to ask the question though. His guild need to get famous so it could start making money, and he figured this was the best time to start.
When he was told to enter, He opened the door, entered, and saluted. "Sargeant Silverwind, sir. I was wondering if I might have a moment of your time, sir? He stood at attention. It wasn't often he was around superior officers, so he was on his best behavior. His sword hilts were brightly polished. His Uniform was spotless, his rank emblems perfectly straight. His boots were polished so well that you could see your reflection in them, if you were to look close enough.

Dundridge had entered a large square room, the white walls lavishly decorated with decorations. The floor was heavily carpeted and Dundrige could feel his footsteps sink in the carpet as he walked. he stood in front of a large ebony desk behind which a black haired man, balding on the top of his head, was sitting, engrossed in some documents. When Dundridge saluted, he looked up, small brown eyes in a round face piercing in Dundridge's direction. He seemed to be sizing the Sergeant in front of him up for a moment, looking from head to toe. Apparently satisfied, he looked Dundridge in the eyes.
"Yes, Sergeant? What do you want?" he asked curtly, partly snapping the words out to Dundridge.

Dundridge looked around apprehensively. "I apologize for the interruption, sir. However, I think this will interest you. I believe that we will need some additional security for the upcoming festival. I believe I amy have an answer for that. My Guild, the Templar of Steel. We are a mercenary guild, but we work for the money we ask for. We haven't had any employers as of yet, but I feel that this would be an opportunity to garner some... interest in our guild. Our rates are reasonable, sir." He paused, waiting for a reaction.

OOC: Sorry for posting so sporadically. Posting has never been my strong point. Anyways, I was really busy at school and stuff. So I've got an excuse.
IC: The Commander peered at Dundridge stroking his chin, apparently in thought.
"Ah, yes. Extra security at the festival. Our complement of guards might indeed be insufficient to cover the needs for such a grand happening. But before we go on, what are those 'reasonable rates' exactly? I wouldn't want to go out making a huge loss on this. But I'm sure you'll understand. And I'm quite sure there'll be enough interest to be garnered at the festival to get yourself some new members."

OOC: I wasn't going to complain... lol
IC: Dundridge looked at the Commander, deciding not to bandy words. "Sir, our rates are 3000 crowns a cycle for the full Guild to come and work. We are, however, running a special. You have the option, for our services, of giving us some land, a few acres at the most, instead of money. That is for one cycle, of course. After the first cycle, the rate drops to 2000 crowns a cycle." He paused, then added "We do the job to the best of our ability." He waited for an answer.

The Commander looked thoughtful for a moment.
"You want land on Abestat's grounds? Inside the city? That could be difficult, but can probably be arranged. Lieutenant!" he shouted and a guardmember walked into the room.
"Yes sir?" the Lieutenant asked.
"Go to the Aedile's and request if they have some acres of land free inside the city's borders."
"Yes sir, on my way sir." the Lieutenant replied and left the room again.
"So how many people does your guild count. Your fees seem reasonable for a sizable guild, but I haven't heard much about your guild yet. I'd like some more information before I can make a decision so you can explain while we wait for the Lieutenant to get back."

Dundridge nodded. "My guild boasts around forty members last I checked. While not a large guild, we have a variety of skills. We have mages and fighters. Then there is me, the only Ranger in the guild." He paused, considering his words carefully. "While we are not a large, or well known guild, we do the job. Some of the guild is working with the Veldar Elite in Zerdargia. We act as a kind of mobile security force. We go where we are needed. We are also working on becoming better known by offering our services for major events, such as the Festival I have been hearing about." He closed his mouth, waiting for a response.

The Commander looked a bit sceptical.
"Although 3000 crowns per cycle seems fine for your member base, you want it every cycle? Even when you're not in active duty protecting this city? But if there are some acres free in the city it seems natural that your guild has a solid base here anyway, so I might agree to that if you promise to have at least 25 percent of your members stationed here for most of the year. Is this acceptable to you?"

Dundridge chuckled. "No, we don't get payed if we aren't working, sir. And ten percent will not be a problem, sir. If we open a Guild Hall here, then I can start recruiting here. It's a lot easier then making a trip to Zerdargia." He hoped his sales pitch was good, but he figured it was the best he could do.

Right about that time, the Lieutenant returned. He whispered something in the Commander's ears at which the Commander looked quite satisfied. Waving dismissively at the Lieutenant, who went away, he turned back to Dundridge.
"Sergeant, I might have good news for you. There is a piece of land available just outside the city's walls, close to the Western Gates. We could grant you that piece of land to build a guildhouse on. Then 2000 crowns per cycle of active protection is yours. You will have to build the guildhouse yourself though, we'll just provide you with land... And funding. I could even grant some money in advance, provided you stay long enough. What do you say?"
The Commander opened a drawer in his desk and got a piece of parchment out, on which he scribbled something. A contract for Dundridge to keep him to his promise in case he accepted.

Dundridge paused thoughtfully. "Let me be sure I have this right, sir. 2000 crowns a cycle for the guild, land, and funding for the guild hall, for a minimum of one Era? If I understand that correctly, it is a deal. I shall need some time off to infrom my guild, however." He paused, and looked down at the ground for a second. "Perhaps I should offer a discount... Say, 1500 crowns a cycle?"

The commander nodded slowly.
"You've understood right Sergeant. Those are the criteria. You'll have to pay half of the guildhouse yourself, but the rest will be funded. All right then, it was a pleasure doing business with you. You can go to the Aedile's now to talk about the construction. She will help you further. We have already informed her that you might be coming and we already reserved the patch of land too, so you only have to say the deal is made and she'll grant you the correct paperwork."
The Commander stood up from his chair and extended his hand to Dundridge.
"I'll expect to see more of your guild in the near future. Report back when you know the price of construction so we can start the funding."

Dundridge looked at the Commander, and shook his hand. "Thank you, Sir. You will be seeing a lot more of my guild. Especially since We will be presenting ourselves to you when the rest of the Guild arrives." He releases the Commander's hand. "By your leave, I will make the arrangements for getting my Guild here."

"Oh yes, of course... Dismissed Sergeant. Let me know when you've accomplished something."
The Commander sat down again and waited for Dundridge to leave.

Dundridge snapped to attention. Thank you, Sir!" He spun on his heel, and marched out of the room.
