Abestat Military Base-Hospital

Deep in the Allerian Military Base known as the Abestat branch, was a large hospital for all of the militants and their families as well as everyone in the city of Abestat. As one would walk through the gates, which happened to be guarded by two large Saurids, they would enter the large reception room.

In the center of the reception room, there happened to be an elf sitting behind a circular desk, writing some notes on a piece of parchment. People could be heard crying, coughing, and sniffling as most of them had pretty bad injuries, in need of surgery, or just regular medicationing. There were a few thaumanturgists, one of them being Private Simon, who seemed to stand at a door in the back of the room, looking around to all of the people that were in there. He looked down at his list, and called up the next person.

One would go up to the desk, and ask the lady what to do or see if she could help them. Corporal Nysilia looked up to them, and asked, "What is your emergency? My name is Corporal Nysilia, and I am able to take your name and give you a number until a thaumanturgist is available, or a doctor or healer will be able to see you?"

Corporal Nysilia glanced up at the large glass double doors. She was bored, and that was a good thing. In any other occupation, one hoped for people to come up to your desk. Any day like today when the Corporal could kick off her shoes and relax was a day to be thankful, for that meant none of Abestat's finest had been injured or wounded. Rare good news indeed!

She sighed happily to herself and went back to doing paperwork.

Two figures appeared, rapidly dashing to the doors of the Hospital. One was very tall (for normal standards), a large Human carring a figure on his arms. The other, an Elf, was supporting the weight of the figure.

Hospital staff would hope to have nothing to do, for they would then know the brave Abestatian soldiers are unharmed. The place was tranquil, as very little had to be done there (when no one was sick or injured). Corporal Nysilia within the hospital would have happily sat down to relax and do the paperworks...

However, there seemed to be not much chance of easy relaxing. The two figures sprinted in, taking care not to apply further grief to the already-unconscious Mousai. Quickly, Agaenos announced in a desperate tone.

"There's a Mousai unconscious here! We need someone here quickly! He had been struck by a streak of lightning! Someone!"

His head swerved left and right frantically, looking for skilled healers.

Corporal Nysilia quickly took one look at the mousai, and could easily tell that he was hurt badly. "I'll go get a doctor!" she exclaimed, and then quickly ran into the back room. A thaumanturgist emerged only seconds later, and quickly pulled along a cart to place the poor mousai on.

"I need one of you to come with me," he said. "And one of you to stay behind with Corporal Nysilia. She needs to get the paperwork on this poor mousai..." He then took the mousai back into one of their emergency rooms, so that he could take a look at the damage done due to the lightning bolt. His name was Corporal Tek, and he was a journeyman thaumanturgist, studying on becoming a master. He would be the one to help this mousai out...

"I will come with you." Kellos stated, and followed on the heels of the Thaumaturgist.

He quick told the story of what had happened to Piotr

"We were celebrating with the rest of the men at the end of the year party, when a red bolt of lightning crashed through the window and struck him. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I believe the Lightning was conjured through arcana..."

Kellos looked down at the Mousai on the cart, and turned back up to the thaumaturgist

"How bad does it look?"

"Thank you Corporal - I'll stay behind for the paperworks..." He said, slightly breathlessly but still in a desperate tone, after hearing Kellos volunteering to go with the Journeyman Thaumaturgist. They walked further, and further, Kellos upon the thaumaturgist's heels, and into the treating room of the Mousai.

At length, his heart lightened somewhat, knowing Piotr would be treated (or he hopes the Corporal treated him well), though he is still somewhat steeped in thought, about the peculiar sky... at length, however, he managed to pull himself out, and hastily followed Corporal Nysilia to complete the paperwork.

Lord Lastra was as true as his word. He had left the military party just after the 'two brave lads carried Percy' to the hospital, and had gone straight there himself, accompanied by some of the sergeants.

"I want Private Pierre to get the best attention money can buy," he demanded, bullying his way around the hospital and shoving a sleeping orderly out of the way.

Sergeant Ashford nodded. "Yes! This little fellow jumped in front of a lightning bolt meant for me, and I will do everything in my power to save him!" He glanced at Agaenos and Kellos. "Well, you boys were there, you saw it. I was looking right out that window when I saw that mother of all lightning bolts coming right for me. Here I'd been joshing the little guy-- all friendly like, the way guys are-- and he takes one for the old sarge."

Lord Lastra nodded benevolently. "I've sent for the best specialists on my payroll. So long as the quacks here keep him alive and unconscious, I assure you lads that we'll get him patched up good as new come the morning."

Smiling, he noticed Lord Lastra arriving, and ordered Private Piotr (which he mistakenly called Private Pierre) to be treated the best he could.

"Yes! This little fellow jumped in front of a lightning bolt meant for me, and I will do everything in my power to save him!" Seargent Ashford confessed, and glanced at both Agaenos and Kellos.

"Well, you boys were there, you saw it. I was looking right out that window when I saw that mother of all lightning bolts coming right for me. Here I'd been joshing the little guy-- all friendly like, the way guys are-- and he takes one for the old sarge."

Agaenos smiled. "Do not worry - he would live through it, Serge..." His last word trailed off. He hoped he was not lying.

As for the benelovence of Lord Lastra (who sent for his best specialists), he thanked him. "Thank you indeed, Lord. Your benelovence and care for the military shall not be forgotten."

The doctor came out at that point and said he had done all he could for the brave little mousai, now Piotr was sleeping and his fate was in the hands of the gods and planetars.

"You lads might as well go back to room 101A and get some shut-eye, no sense keeping an all-night vigil here since Piotr is heavily sedated. I'm sure he knows your thoughts and prayers are with him, though, and I'll send word the minute he rouses."

If either private asked to see Piotr, the doctor would bring him to the door outside the little mousai's room, where Piotr could be seen dozing peacefully curled up at the head of a bed that could have housed 23 mousai.

The thaumaturgist came out. He had done everything he could for Piotr - at least that is what he said - though he is still lying, unconscious, upon the bed. Hopefully, the Aetherians and Planetars would have mercy upon this little creature.

"You lads might as well go back to room 101A and get some shut-eye, no sense keeping an all-night vigil here since Piotr is heavily sedated. I'm sure he knows your thoughts and prayers are with him, though, and I'll send word the minute he rouses."

"Well... erm, doctor, could I just see him, for a short moment?"

The doctor led Agaenos deeper into the Base Hospital, through corridors, until he finally arrived outside the door of Private Cassiouwicz's room. There, his features were peaceful - all fear and doubt had, seemingly, left him, and content with what he had done back in the Party. A hint of pity could be seen on Agaenos' face, but more profoundly etched was the respect for the Mousai.

Taking a deep breath, he turned away, back towards his assigned room, 101A, although he did not forget to thank the doctor first.

Kellos let out a heavy breath, as much of relief as that he had been holding it for as long as he rememberd. He bowed deeply to both the Sarge and Lord Lastra.

"My thanks to both of you, it is good to know that he shall be treated with utmost care. Perhaps next time I should leap before a lightning bolt!"

He chuckled slightly, the first time he had showed any sign of humor or happiness since the Piotr had been struck.

"Once again, my thanks. I take my leave, and will stop by in a day or so to check up on the fellow."

That said, he bowed once again, and followed Agaenos out of the hospital to the barracks. But before he left he couldn't help but grin and whisper, "Piotr, you are one tough mousai!"

The next morning, Piotr was given a clean bill of health and allowed to return to his barracks. The hospital staff was astonished at his rapid recovery, but Piotr assured them that it was do to all their hard work and rapid ministrations. And that's exactly how he said it.

It was only until much later that the nurse on duty remarked on how the little mousai had not stuttered a single word/
