Leave and Vacation Office
Perhaps the most popular part of the Military Base for those on active duty, arguably second only to the Base Payroll/Bursar office, this modest little room set in the second story of the Base HQ saw more traffic than any other room in Abestat.
For it was here that every single officer and enlisted person had to go when they desired some time off. Fortunately, the kindly old warrant officer behind the desk, W.O. Jones, was known as a lenient soul and all requests were granted so long as Abestat was not in a time of war or privation.
Those who had not had a day off in all the months the gates were closed were entitled to a tremendous amount of back pay and 'leave' time, as vacation time was called in the military. Even those not interested in a break could still ask for a week or a weekend off, say to explore Port Constantine or Candaceburg.
Longer requests, such as to go to Carmelyn or Arium provinces, were approved on a case-by-case basis, but there were no enlisted personnel so essential that any had yet been denied.
Sergeant Dundrige himself was said to be currently vacationing in the tropical resort on La Quista.

When you arrive, W.O. Jones gives you a form to fill out:

Rank:
Company or Platoon:
Requested Vacation City:

Kyli had been in Abestat for quite a long time. Almost as long as she had moved away from home. She had started out in the Prime, but had gotten transferred to Abestat upon joining in the military. At the time she had thought it an inconvenience, but had now grown to love this city by the sea. She had become accustomed to the salty smell that filled the air and the temperate climate. But once the gates opened she finally realized just how much she wanted to see the rest of the world. Wasn't that the whole reason that she had left her home in the first place? She had left one place and only had visited 2 other cities, both of which were quite close and similar in culture. She needed diversity and needed to see what other places were like.
Though there was a little more motivation once the gates had opened. She had found Roland, a man she had met once before, who had asked her to run a little errand in Port Constantine for him. It had to do with people wanting to exterminate all of the inferior races and she was to ask around to see what the people thought of it. She reasoned that the only way she was to get in trouble was if she ran into authorities and stated that she was there because she disagreed with such a decree. Kyli was uncertain as to where she stood for such an act. Though she felt superior to most of the races they were terminating, she didn't feel as if they ought to die. Though it didn't really matter, for she wasn't getting paid for her beliefs. She was getting paid to find out the information.
The first step would be getting leave from her commanders to take a "vacation". She wouldn't really consider it such because for all she knew she would be working for most of the time. But it was a chance to get out and see what places had to offer. But Port Constantine wasn't the only reason she had to leave, though it was her excuse. Having read an article in the Herald about an expedition, Kyli felt inclined to join in. It was in Daltina, a city not too far away from Port Constantine. It was to be an expedition to explore the southern reaches of the world, where nobody had been, or at least nobody that had survived. What Kyli didn't know about herself was that she thrived off of adventure. A little bit of her deep down knew it, but most of her turned it off as simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time too much.
So her decision was made. She was to get out of Abestat. Kyli walked to the newly made Leave and Vacation Office to apply. It seemed as if she was not the only person to think that it was time for such a vacation, for the traffic was quite heavy. Waiting her turn, Kyli walked up to the counter. She was given a form to fill out by a kind looking old officer.
Quote:
Name: Kyli Bronwen
Rank: Private
Company or Platoon: Delta Company, 2nd platoon
Requested Vacation City: Port Constantine and Daltina
Estimated Time Off: 2 months
|
She handed the form back to the officer and realized how 2 months must have seemed like a long time for such a close trip. Kyli tried to explain, "Well I was planning on sight seeing, as well as there was this expedition in Daltina that sounded interesting...I don't know how long it would take, but I doubt it would be more then 2 months. But better to be safe then sorry, right?" She hoped she could be granted the time off. She had no idea how far away the southern reaches of the world was, let alone how long the trip would take. She didn't want to be gone longer then she was allowed.

W.O. Jones looked over the piece of paper quickly. There did not seem to be anysort of reason why this Kyli Bronwen could not have leave. He put itinits place then looked up at Kyli."I see no reason why your leave should not be granted. Everyine needs a break every now and again, "he says smiling kindly at her. " Port Constantine and an expidition to Daltina does sound like it might be quite a good time. I give you permission to take two months leave. But I want you back here either as soon as that period of time has ended, even better if you could get back before then. Right then off you go then. Enjoy your vacation. " as he said this he shuffled some paper, and got back to his work, and waited to see who would be seeking leave next.

Warrant Officer Jones was at his desk when Lt. Monroe came by. He snapped off a crisp salute. "Good afternoon, sir! What can I do for you, sir?"
Lt. Monroe shook his head sadly. "The base is currently on red alert. There are vyssie looting Abestat, we are at war with Prime-- the fact is, we have too much going on to spare anyone right now. For the next forty-eight hours at least, all leave is cancelled save for emergent reasons, and no one is to be approved without my reviewing the paperwork first."
He gave Jones a copy of the written orders which came straight from the Base Commander.

Ryuujin walked into the base and smiled at the Warrent Officer as he picked up a form. He wondered how to word this because he was asking for a long time off.
Name: Ryuujin Whiptail
Rank: Private
Platton: none yet assigned
City: Archadoon
Estimated time off: A year or , maby two. The extended length of this visit is due to the fact that I am going there to learn flying and Telepathy so that I may better serve the abesat army.
Yes that sounded good. After all the skills that he would learn would help the army very much.
He handed the form back to the Warrent Officer and smiled again at him.

So news of it had reached his ears. Seven-thousand and five-hundred Crowns for each of the team-member in the first place? And, even if outmatched, the second team would still received five thousand crowns each?
It was certainly an attractive opportunity. Though, it was not for his own greed. It was for another purpose, another... Higher purpose. It was desperately needed for the funding of the Hoplites of Abestat, of which he was the primary source of idea, and the first of all proposers, the man to look for answers where questions about the potential faction abound.
"Where... Hmmm... Ah - here..." His mind synchronised with his brown eyes in unison, scanning the military district for his destination, none other than the Leave and Vacation Office, seemingly to be the second most popular building in the entire miitary base.
Entering the office, the kindly old soul, W.O. Jones immediately handed him a form. This young Corporal had never been on a leave before... He could only wonder what it was like to be a long leave...
Name: Agaenos Phidion
Rank: Corporal
Company? Platoon? What company or platoon? He had never, ever been assigned one ever since he came! Staring blankly at the column for a brief moment, his bewildered mind decided to leave it blank, and move on to the others instead...
Company or Platoon:
Requested Vacation City: Candanceburg
Estimated Time Off: One-and-a-half Cycle
He cleared his throat unobtrusively. "I am heading to Candanceburg for the contest, and I would not think it should be any longer than one-and-a-half cycle - but that is only my guess..." He gave a slight smile. "As well as that... I have never been assigned to a company or platoon." Unlike normal circumstances, his voice did not trail off towards the end; instead, he kept the same, non-descript tone.
"Well..." Said a small voice in his mind, "The Hoplites does need the funding... And it shall do me a lot of good to relieve myself of the Council, even if just for a short moment..."

timestamp: Era I age of darkening, 2nd of Melora
Kellos walked in to the Vacation and leave Office during a brisk winter afternoon. He had come on behalf of his participation with the Hoplites, a group of which would be departing for a tournament in Candaceburg, one he was participating in. After that, he had a desire to take a brief excursion to New Coldmoon to visit an old friend. This was good, at least, as should anything dire occur in Abestat he would always be no more than 4 days away on horseback.
Nodding politely to the desk clerk, he took the form and swiftly filled it out.
Name: Kellos Argaunt Vastak
Rank: Corporal
Troop: Pending
Desired city of leave: Candaceburg, New Coldmoon
Estimated time: 3-4 cycles
Sliding the form back over the desk, he smiled to the clerk.
"I need to depart on leave for a while, I am participating in a tournament in Candaceburg to test my strength and help spread the honor of the Hoplites. Afterward I have matters to attend to in New Coldmoon. My leave should not be long, and My trip might even be briefer than I think, but it all depends."

Entering the leave and vacation office with the usually expression of mild indifference plastered on her face, the young soldier said nothing to the officer in charge as she took a form, complying to its wishes and jotting the relevant information down onto its printed surface. It had not come as a complete surprise that she had been requested to attend a meeting concerning the Council of the Sword and the Sacred Circle; she had not seen the Warlord, Jaldaric, or had the chance to converse with others in her section of the Circle for quite some time, and she was sure that she needed to undergo a serious amount of updating in regard to this. Putting pen to paper, Sergeant Lasant-Kaldres got to work disturbing the neat surface with her flowing, semi-coherent scrawl.
Name: Keeva Lasant Kaldres
Rank: Sergeant
Company or Platoon: Delta Company, 2nd platoon
Requested Vacation City: Natura
Estimated Time Off: 2 and a half cycles
"I'll need to be leaving for Natura to attend a meeting with my faction, the Sacred Circle. I trust this is a good enough reason to take my short leave of the military?"
It was not often that she took time off like this, and rarer still that she left the military base at Abestat for no apparent reason. As such, she was almost completely certain that she would obtain the relevant permission needed for her to conduct such an outing now. Handing the form back to the Warrant Officer, the young woman considered him patiently with large eyes of grey as she awaited his response, and hopefully a positive one, to her written request.

After finishing the paperwork Vincent handed the papers back to the attendant and waited for a reply.

OOC: Aesha has asked me to pick this up! Sorry about the wait!
IC:
Kellos Vastak
"A contest in Candaceburg, huh?" W.O. Jones grinned wistfully. In his youth, he'd frequently competed in similar challenges himself. "Alright, sounds good to me. I'll give you a leave of four cycles. Hope everything goes smoothly in both Candaceburg and New Coldmoon for you."
He nodded at the corporal genially before turning his attention back to the forms on his desk.
Agaenos Phidion
W.O. Jones gave the form a cursory glance before nodding briskly. Smiling up at the corporal, he tapped his chin thoughtfully, "Hmm . . . yes, I've already heard about the contest in Candaceburg. Corporal Vastak has just requested a leave yesterday for the same purpose. Alright, I see no problem here. I'll give you permission to take leave for two cycles but I expect you back here in tip top shape. No slacking off, hear?"
His eyes twinkled slightly before adding, "Oh, and don't forget make Abestat proud in the contest. Good luck, soldier!"
Keeva Lasant Kaldres
The kindly old warrant officer nodded in acknowledgment at the grey eyed sergeant. His eyes flickered over the completed form before smiling up at the woman. "Natura, huh? Quite a beautiful place. I'll give you leave for three cycles then. Hope your meeting with your faction goes great."
Vincent Stefan
W.O. Jones smiled briefly at Vincent before looking over the paper. He faltered slightly before squinting up at the private first class. "I'm sorry but I can't grant you a leave unless you give me a specific range of time. Can't have soldiers running off for a whole pattern before reporting back here, you see."
The man folded his hands and waited patiently for the soldier's response.

"Hmmm?" He looked slightly inquisitively at the Warrant Officer, a mild, pleasent surprise evident upon his face and tone, "Kellos... Er, Corporal Vastak actually left one day before me?" A small grin appeared on his face, as he raised his hand slightly. "I guess some people are more enthusiastic than I am then."
So, with the Leave and Vacation Office's permission, young Agaenos was allowed to be in Candaceburg for two cycles, to partake in the tournament. Wonderful - the time should be enough. "Although if I had to be away for two weeks - which thankfully I do not, I'd rather dread about the price of renting tavern rooms instead..." The mischevious portion of his mind prompted the comment. Mentally raising his eyebrow, he shoved that voice away for a brief moment.
"No slacking off, hear?"
Nodding, his straightened his posture to the that of a formal salute, booming (withint he reasonable boundaries of his voice in this small room), "Yes sir!"
"Oh, and don't forget make Abestat proud in the contest. Good luck, soldier!"
"Don't worry," he reassured him, "I would not fail Abestat. Trust me." An energetic gleam appeared in his eyes, as a grin appeared upon his face, before thanking the kind officer, and departing the office.
Very soon, he began his trip to the stables to fetch Glorias, his Plainsbred horse...

OOC: Sorry disregard my post. What I was hoping to do fell through.
Vincent thought for a moment then replayed "Ah well if I were to take a guess I’d say about one or two patterns. Not much more than that. I need to visit an old friend in natura."
