SF (Basic: Long Sword Kellos)

Darmok nodded his head and lead Kellos to a room. It was a solid concret reinforced steel room. It was a bit cold, and musty the feeling any underground facility has. It had targets, dummies, chairs, swords, and whatever else. Darmok then said "This will be your training room until completed. You instructor will be Lore. that will be in the Long sword of course. He will be here shortly"

Kellos had to have much patience as it took Lore about an hour to arrive. It seems Kellos thought he was there or something rather. Lore then walked in he was a fascinating man. He wore a Turban, and looked pretty rough. He was in his middle age with a black and white beard. Lore wore military boots, and were black ones at that. He wore a dark cloak, and moved through the room without much noise.

Lore then bowed "nice to meet you friend, and what is your name? then I will also ask if you have any experience in the long sword ?

Kellos bowed deeply to his new teacher. "Serale, Lore. My name Is Kellos Vastak, and the scrawny feline over there is Mari" he said, jabbing his thumb over his shoulder at the cat sleeping peacefully in the corner. He took in a deep breathe, the stale air leaving a dusty, chalky feeling in the back of his throat, though he paid no heed to it. He cleared his throat slightly, as to try and clear out the small motes of dirt. "As for training with my weapons" he muttered "I have had no true experience or training." Bowing once more he said, "I am honored to have you be the first to do so"

Lore smirked "don't have to kiss my backside or slobber over my boot Kellos. slobbering over some theif's boot will get you killed. Just be real with me sir." Lore then retrieved a practice sword. These swords were dulled so that hits would only leave bruises. Lore took a few practice swings making it look easy and precise. Lore then instructed "pick a practice sword they are all long swords so you wont have to worry. Just pick one that feels best to you. Oh and here these are some leather gloves you might want to buy some at a shop in the near future."

Lore then stretched a bit "you might want to stretch you know try and touch the floor stretch your arms in whatever way. Trust me enjoy it now you wont be getting a rest for a while." Lore continued stretching between is legs, and his Turban flowing with grace as he warmed up. His rough skin making the stretching look weak compared to what he could do to Kellos right now if Kellos said something wrong. However, Lore's spirit wa snot of evil intent, so at leats the vibe is sound.

Kellos grinned at Lore, this one was a strong warrior. Learning from him would do anyone good. He nodded at Lore, "The option of rest never came to my mind. I intend to go as long as I can." He walked over to the side of the room, and grabbed one of the swords from the rack. It was a painfully simple sword, to say the least. A simple blade, a simple hilt composed of one piece of Iron, and a leather wrapped handle. He tried to find its center of balance, holding it delicately in his right hand. Then, grabbing the tip of the blade between his left thumb and forefinger, he took the sword and outstrecthed his arms, trying to stretch out his shoulders by moving the sword behind and above his back. He did many other stretches, and after ward kept his hands at rest. "Well then." he said "What now?"

Lore observed how Kellos held his sword and nodded "extend your hand and show me how you will hold your sword. we must learn form ground up." Lore grinned and waited to se e how exactly he held his sword.

In the mean while as they waited they could here a new trainee screaming next door down. With the instructor yelling "your post to use your sword to block you idiot not your hand." Lore shook his head " Abestat military needs a lot of work" he then continued and waited for kellos to show him....

Kellos laughed aloud at Lore's last comment, his voice echoing off the cold concrete walls. "Well, it is training after all." he said. "You'll get a dense one every now and then. Hopeful I won't be one of them." He griined, and extended his right arm forward, the blade following up his arm, in one line. He held the grip of the sword with his hand in the middle of it, as too close was uncomfortable as the hilt would dig into his wrist, and too far away would make it easy to lose balance. HIss hand itself was also slightly tilted on the grip, making it a little more comfortable and easier to do a wider variety of swings. He held his fingers firm around its leather, but kept his wrist somewhat at easy. He turned his head toward Lore, wondering what his thoughts were.

Lore nodded and no further note about the unfortunate man. He gazed at the hand hold and nodded. Without warning Lore swung at the sword, and knocked the sword clear out of Kellos's hand. The veteran teacher grinned "you held fine, but you did not really hold it." Lore let the sentence sink in knowing it did not make much since. Indeed, yet another hidden truth an instructor likes to hide in a weird metaphor...if it can even be called that.

He then explained "you must view the sword as an extension of your arm . It wont come off unless forcevly removed. However, like a shoulder and like an elbow your hand to must become a joint." Lore then further explained "you focused on holding it as though a great anxiety of some sort. Anxiety makes you squeeze where you should not. Now pick up your sword hold it straight as though griping something precise. No slants at all let the elbow and wrist do the bending and twirling."

After Kellos got a grip again Lore then swung at his sword again..

OOC: just go into detail how you go into holding the sword again.

Kellos nodded, and picked up the sword once more. Though a bit confused as to how easy he knocked the sword from his grip, it dd make since. He was, after all, his superior. He picked up the sword again, and remembered Lore's words, "You hand must be like a joint". He set his grib directly on the handle, so that the curve of his fingers rean directly parrallel to that of the hilt, but once again did not place his hand too close. It felt awkward, as it was different from his usual grip, but at the same time it felt somehow right. He extened his arm, letting the sword, his forearm and upper arm all make a straight line, and felt the pressure on his wrist, he let the pressure release it self, and let his wrist roll around. If it were to be a joint, he must let it roll with ease, but at the same time control it in an instance. He looked up as he saw Lore swing, and pulled his arm back, spinning his wrist and sword so that they were made vertical, in an attempt to counter Lore's swing.

Lore struck the sword hard, and it stayed nicely in the hand of Kellos. He nodded "excellent, in time you will learn where to add pressure, and where to let the sword go the way it was struck and use momentum to your advantage." Lore then proceeded with the lessons "the next step is your stance. People think waving your sword around doe snot involve a constructed stance. Of course those are the fools who die. As a result show me how you naturally stand. As though you were going to strike me..."

Lore then stood back and observed closely as Kellos gave an example...

Kellos nodded, shaking his hand aching with the shock of Lore's strike. He slide his legs apart, his right foot taking the lead, slightly bent at the knee, and his left with his weight on it, and also slightly bent at the knee, though more than his front, giving him a better pressure to spring forward. His right arm, holding the sword, followed up his right foot, held forward, and bent at the elbow. Unsure of how to position the sword, he merely rested it horizontally in the air. He looke at Lore, who seemed to be drawing in his every move.

Lore shook Kellos a bit and pushed on him to see how firm his stance was. He then instructed "you have your knees bent and one foot forward thats nice. Keep the other leg under you, and of course your knees bent like you already have them. " Lore then thought for a few seconds and then continued "now I would hold your sword with a 45 degree angle in front of you. Then your ready to move forward, and thwart other peoples attacks and so on."

Lore took a few practice swings "now readjust your stance accordingly to the new information I gave. I Want to see you in the right form. Think of it as the foundation of your fighting skill. If your foundation is cracked, so are you."

Kellos nodded, understanding that the last thing he needed in a fight was to have a bad stance. He readjusted his footing, and placed the sword at the angle Lore desire. Kellos nearly cocked his head in confusion, the stance seemed very straight. "Lore" he said "What if somenone were to attack from the side? They could easily break this stance, or send him falling to the ground."

Lore nodded his head "so it seems, but the stance is sound do you think that is how you will be through out the fight ? I would say no this stance is uniform something to come back to when you move to attack. The foot in front gives you the step with leg underneath to give you the push. If you had one leg out and the other you would look like one of those gymnastic people open for an attack. If someone attacked from the side you just move forward and see them fly by. You also can pivot or roll out of the way. Just pivot with the sid e attack using the parry which you haven't learned yet."

Lore then continued "does that answer your question ?"

Kellos nodded. "Yes, quite" he said, and saw how such motions would fit with the stance. He turned his head again toward Lore. "So, what now?"

Lore then proceeded "remember this stance, for it will be the soul skill that will be used in fighting. When you strike forward you should then come back into your stance ready to parry or what not. Basically in a fight always have a stance, and always try to have a stable stance as you fight."

Lore then proceeded with the next step "Now you have the stance and the way to hold your sword. Lets us move to learn how to block a swing which is called a parry. It looks often like an X which is called crossing of swords. Now do not wait for someones sword to reach yours. Make contact let him know you are there and mean business. I will make a swing at you from right to left vertically. The response to this is to raise your sword in a horizontal way so that it will look as though a cross."

Soon Lore motioned to begin, and then swang the sword down at Kellos as though cutting him in half.....
