Privates Barracks
Sergeant Ashford Gold functioned as the senior enlisted man for the BEQ, or bachelor enlisted quarters. It was his job to maintain order and discipline in the area, and to make sure every soldier had his own cot and foot locker.
He realized that there were a great deal of new recruits coming in, and therefore gathered them all together and made the following announcement:
"All right, maggots, listen up! No army can function without sleep, and this Abestat military is no different. If you hockey pucks are a private or new recruit in the Abestat military then you must have an assigned billet. Privates are assigned to a room of four, much like a large dorm room with two bunk beds in it. For those who get promoted, corporals and sergeants are two to a room, and officers get private bedrooms. Not that I expect to see any of you Xet-lovers promoted any time soon, but even Abestat is not free from the whims of Jor-El. Get up here and get your room numbers, NOW!"
He went to the front desk inside the large glass double doors of the enlisted barracks, and snapped his fingers at Private Piotr Cassiouwicz, who held a clipboard between his front paws. "All right, meatball, here's your chance to get out of guard duty. Make sure all these guys have a room." He pointed a threatening finger at the quivering yellow mousai. "Don't let anyone leave without a room key!"

All the new recruits were being gathered in. Rather roughly.
"All right, maggots, listen up!" He started. "Maggot? Just excuse me, sir?!" A fiery thought flashed through his mind, but he was able to suppress it in time.
As the officer addressed the recruits, Agaenos' mind answered each of his comments.
"No army can function without sleep, and this Abestat military is no different."
"No doubt about that!"
"If you hockey pucks are a private or new recruit in the Abestat military then you must have an assigned billet."
"Good..."
"Privates are assigned to a room of four, much like a large dorm room with two bunk beds in it."
"Hope I am with some decent folk, not with a Jorel-cursed... maggot..."
"For those who get promoted, corporals and sergeants are two to a room, and officers get private bedrooms."
"Oh... what?!"
"Not that I expect to see any of you Xet-lovers promoted any time soon, but even Abestat is not free from the whims of Jor-El."
"Wait until I command you, Serge!"
After listening to his harsh speech (Agaenos would get used to it very soon, hopefully), he queued up right in front to receive a room key. He could finally get some place and sleep - and practice what he learned of the broad sword without the chance of accidentally stabbing people.

Piotr looked up at Agaenos, the clipboard quivering nervously in his hand. "N-n-name?"
He glanced down at the list. "B-b-because you are first in l-l-line, I c-c-can't tell you. . . " he pointed down at the empty list: there was no way yet to know who Ageanos would be living with.
He waited until the sergeant was busy chewing out some new recruit for having a button undone, then whispered to Ageanos quickly: "B-b-but you c-c-can . . . c-c-come ba-back here. You you know, if you n-need to switch."
The sergeant returned at that time. "Private Cassiouwicz! You haven't even finished processing one person yet! Stop gossiping about the boys you like and keep those keys moving! IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?"
Piotr looked crestfallen, and quickly shoved the key to room 101A into Agaenos's hand. "S-s-sign here, p-p-please."
He gave Agaenos a ticket to go to the quatermaster to pick up fresh linen and bedrolls as well.

As Private Piotr looked up to him and asked for his "n-n-name", he knew at once, from the tone of his voice, that he was nervous - so nervous, in fact, that it seemed that the yellow mousai would collapse from disorders springing from nervousness.
He quickly flashed a re-assuring smile. "Agaenos Phidion."
"B-b-because you are first in l-l-line, I c-c-can't tell you..." Looks like his hope of "not bunking up with a Jorelite" is hanging on the balance on a thread...
The Sergeant, however, moved onto a new recruit with his undone button. Then, the Private offered him a nice proposition. "B-b-but you c-c-can... c-c-come ba-back here. You you know, if you n-need to switch -"
"Private Cassiouwicz! You haven't even finished processing one person yet! Stop gossiping about the boys you like and keep those keys moving! IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?"
Even Agaenos himself felt the force of the Sergeant's verbal onslaught. Secretly, he felt pity for him - but another feeling sprang up, feeling the mousai should not have been this slow and nervous.
The Man received a key to a room 101A (which looked like one of the first rooms), as well as signing where Private Cassiouwicz required him to.
Before he took the ticket for fresh linen and bedrolls and left, he quickly whispered, "Don't get nervous," and gave a nearly imperceptible nod, to avoid the Sergeant's attention.

Vincent also stood in the line for housing. His pet raven Shadow perched on his shoulder. Vincent was not one to make a seen and for that mater show his true feelings so instead he just stood in the line and waited for someone to call him up.
Shadow the raven, was not that understanding. Flapping his wings and yelling out, the bird proceeded to make quite a seen. However Vincent knew just how to stop this, reaching down into his pouch. Vincent grabbed a handful of seeds, which he proceeded to give to the bird. With one gulp the bird ate the seeds and quieted down. That taken care of Vincent went back to waiting in line.

Kellos stood at attention as Sergeant Gold berated the new privates.
All right maggots, listen up!
Heh, maggot? Look whose talking.
Kellos couldn't help but think
Well, if he was to be assigned to a bedroom with four other privates, he may as well go and check who he was roomed with...
As soon as the lecture was over, Kellos turned to sign in and found himself looking down on a rather terrified looking mousai, to say the least. He looked so nervous that he'd faint away.
Trying to help lighten the poot fellow's attitude, he crouched down until he was the same height as the mousai.
Smiling warmly at the mousai, trying to keep the poor fellow from having a cardiac arrest, he said,
"Serale there, friend. My name is Kellos Vastak. May I ask what room I'm assigned to?"All right maggots, listen up!

Piotr nodded as Vincent came up to stand in line. "S-serale, private St-st-stefan. Y-you are in r-room 901A."
He glanced up at the bird, and stammered out that Vincent would have to see the barrack Sergeant about getting a special perch assigned for it. The Abestat military did have an aviary where the carrier pidgeons were kept so it was not uncommon to have birdmen, falconers and the like. These were all housed on the top floor, and that's where Vincent would be staying.
* * *
Once Kellos arrived to the front of the link, Piotr stammered out a timid greeting to him as well. "S-erale, P-private Kellos." He made a valiant effort to make a little small talk, to inquire about Kellos' health and family life, but Sergeant Ashford nearly tore Piotr a new rear end.
Sergeant Ashford slapped a large meaty hand on the table. "Private! Flirt on your own time! These men need to be assigned barracks, and they need it now!"
Piotr nearly collapsed into a fetal ball, but then he nodded, and turned to Kellos. "Y-you are all... also in r-room 101A. G-good luck!" He attempted to glance over Kellos' shoulder. "N-next?"

Ryuujin walked into the barracks and listened to the sergants speech. He sounded like kind of a blowhard to Ryuujin but he was a high rank so Ryuujin vowed to respect him. He then walked up to the desk and almost smiled at Piotr but stoped because he did not want the sergant to start chewing either of them out. He asked for his room assignment. and waited for an answer.

Piotr nodded at Ryuujin, timidly processing the paperwork while keeping one eye on the Sergeant and one eye on the line that seemed to stretch out for eternity.
He handed Ryuujin his room key. "Y-you are. . . are in r-room 101A, too! G-good luck!" Piotr made sure that Ryuujin signed for all his documents, then let him go one his way.

Colin walked in and regarded the timid Private Cassiouwicz. The private seemed a bit shaky Colin thought and reminded him of a kid Colin once knew when he was young; He was always picked on by other children unless Colin was near and so he always seemed afraid. Lucky for that kid, Colin was much kinder and happen to be a bit older than most the neighborhood children at the time. Colin could not realistically defeat them though when being outnumbered by a dozen or so children, but quickly making an example of their leader finally seemed to keep them away while Colin was around. He did not like hurting the bully leader, but Colin did not regret doing what he thought needed to be done. It was like his father once told him. A man wishing to be good at all times will come to ruin among so many who are not good.
He eyed the sergeant as well for a brief moment before getting in line.
ooc:*gives credit to Machiavelli's The Prince for that notable line*

The tigron's next stop was the barracks and he made good time entering
in uniform, minus the offending tailing.
He gathered with the others, unable to control completely the lay of his ears as the fellow bellowed at them. Instinct was instinct after all.
But he did as he was told and fell in line behind the others to receive his housing assignment. When his turn came, he handed over his ID.....fought every instinct that nagged at him to regard the mousai with an expression that suggested he'd look good face down on a dinner plate, and introduced himself. "R'cruit Thelonious Brass."

"S-serale f-fellow," Piotr smiled timidly at the two new recruits. "I w-will put you b-both in this r-room, 102-B, o-okay?"
He handed them each a room key, though he dropped Thelonious' key before he could give it to him. It was instinctual, but the mousai in him was aware that there was a large Tigron standing inches away, and he had to bite down the sudden urge to run away lest he become a plaything or dinner.
To his credit, he apologize to Thelonius and then picked up the key and handed it to him. "H-here you g-go."

Colin thanked the mousai and pocketed the key. Turning to the tigron he said, "So...Thelonious was it? I'm sure we'll get along fine." Colin added a smile but also wondered on the grooming, sleeping and other habits of the tigron. He hoped if Thelonious would be up at night as Colin heard his kind to do, he would at least be quiet enough to not awake him. Other worries on his behavior popped into Colin's head but these were matters for later. The tigron seemed nice enough besides, he thought. Now though the new recruit needed to get weapons. Walking out Colin said evenly, "If you need weapons as I do, let's go to the stockade and hurry before we miss the parade." He was not entirely excited by the affair, especially when he would not be recognized for anything, but it seemed a duty to attend and so Colin would do so. Also he would not deny fellow soldiers the honor and respect they deserved. He did have some minor interest of his own though, having never attended anything of the like.

The tigron had to hand it to the little mousai for not fleeing...Truth was, if he had, it might've been just the trigger for instinct to overcome upbringing and cause the katta to give chase...no matter the consequences, no matter the knowing better or not.
So careful not to smile overmuch and bare his sharp teeth, Thelonious took the key with upturned paw and claws sheathed, a friendly nod that told of a newly formed respect. "Thank you," he said with a nod and slipped the key into the pocket of his uniform.
When Colin spoke he turned and nodded, following him out the door. "Yes, it's Thelonious, and I need weapons as well. I'll follow you," he suggested, his tail languidly sweeping the floor behind him as he walked. He was actually relieved to discover he'd be sharing a room with a human, that being the race he was most familiar with. At least, familiar enough with their strange and perplexing habits to adjust. Even if some of those habits tended to run afoul of his every instinct.

After releasing some heavenly gas in room 101A Jack decided to cause some trouble in the Privates Quarters. He looked about at the Tigron and shrugged, and then saw Colin. He smirked, and casually walked dup to them and the room filled with Privates of the army. Jack was the average 6 foot looking man. He was in his late 40's, and in good shape. Jack looked at the highest ranking member in the barracks and then Punched him hard din the back of the head.
Jack then with good abilities in stealth quickly leaned on the wall, and pointed at Colin as the one who started it. The Private First Class fueled with anger "So it wa s you the new guy eh ?" Jack nodded "It be him says I. It be them new comers ye gota watch out for ye know." Soon Colin found himself getting punch in the gut. One man tried stopping the fight, but Jack tripped him and pointed at the Tigron the private cursed and then kicked Thelonious in the gut.
Jack then told one other private that the other private were talking about his sister in crude manners. The privates eyes widened and then soon a full fight was takeing place in the barracks. Cool and with ease Lorre cracked a smile and left....
