Base Aedile/Base room assignments.
With the base growing by leaps and bounds, command decided that the housing office needed its own quarters, and so set aside this miniature version of an Aedile's office right next to the main base gates. This way those coming in were assured of having a place to sleep right away, and those being discharged were able to turn in their room key and military linen just before departure.
Sergeant 'Catch' Ashford was the man in charge, the little yellow mousai Corporal Piotr as usual by his side, though now they appeared to have grown closer since the accident. They stood behind a desk divided into three partitions, the two on the left covered in glass.
Ashford read from his clipboard: "Okay, people, listen up and listen closely. I'm going to say this once and one time only. Those enlisting or reenlisting form a line at Window 1. Those being promoted or transferring platoons or divisions go to Window 2. Those being demoted or discharged must go to Window 3. Understand?" He then repeated himself 4 more times, this being the military bureacracy and all.
The worst part about it was that there were only two glass windows, and neither of them were numbered.

As Nitnatsnok wandered the streets he overheard some distant voice saying something that sounded like an anouncement. He looked around and noticed a man and a little yellow mousai standing at his side. He walked closer and listened to what they were saying. He listened the first time through in a distant place in his mind, he was actually thinking how peculiar it was to see a mousia. Nitnatsnok had never seen a mousai and upon getting a closer look at him he was surprised how small he really was. He took one last long glance at him and tuned into what the Sergeant was saying. When he finished he opened his mouth to speak but before he could utter a word he was cut off by the Sargeant repeating what he had just said. He was caught so off gaurd he stumbled back a bit before regaining his balance. After hearing it another two times he waited a second to make sure the Sergeant was finished and stepped forward to the window nearest him. He took out his military ID and spoke to the person at his counter, "Serale, I am here to enlist."

It was yet another ordinary day, as the new Corporal strolled somewhat carefreely down the military district, his two swords, one bastard sword and the other broad sword, dangling unobtrusively upon the black belt of Agaenos, seemingly to chatter away at each other. He eyed the familiar sight, wondering when he would move out from the Private's barracks - after all, he is no longer a Private.
His answer came almost immediately.
"Okay, people, listen up and listen closely."
Stopping, the Human looked up, his brown eyes focusing upon Sergeant "Catch" Ashford, along with the little Yellow Mousai, Piotr. He remembered previously, in the military end-of-year party, how they had teased and bullied him. Staring distastefully at the Sergeant, he soon realised they were closer together now, and rather much like friends. His half-glare shifted instantly into a comfortable, docile smile.
I'm going to say this once and one time only. Those enlisting or reenlisting form a line at Window 1. Those being promoted or transferring platoons or divisions go to Window 2. Those being demoted or discharged must go to Window 3. Understand?"
"You said you'd repeat this once... why in Telath are you repeating four times, Serge??"
His mind asked blankly at the Sergeant, as he started to repeat his instructions over and over again, contradicting to what he was saying there, totalling five times.
Staring at the office, he found a worse problem.
Only the middle and left windows were... windowed. The right one was without any glass panes, and worse, neither windows one, two or three bore a number. Talking about military organisation... "Disgraceful..." He shook sadly to himself.
At any rate, he was being promoted, and for his particular case, he was to queue at Window 2... either queue, or stride up as fast as he could to avoid a queue. Taking the latter option, he paced himself quickly up to the middle window (as it should be logically assumed that would be Window 2), and showed his military ID.
"Corporal Agaenos Phidion. I have just received a promotion." He told whoever was behind the counter briefly, and concisely. In the midst of that, he became dreadfully worried about how "organised" this particular militia was...

Yarrow listened carefully. She was to go to window two, but which window was that? She glanced about the room to see if she could spot anyone she knew and found one. Agaenos Phidion was making his way toward one of the windows. Since he was getting a promotion....that meant he must be going to the same window she was seeking.
Staff Sergeant Yarrow Woodruff....who would have thought?! And what a mouth full of a thing to say as well. She thought as she got in line in back of Agaenos. She was about to say something when he began talking and so she readied her own ID and waited for him to finish so she could say serale as if they were strangers.

The task of heading over to the military ‘Aedile’s office’ had not yet been given the chance to even ponder slipping the young woman’s mind, considering how highly it featured on her organised mental checklist of things to do. She was still suffering from severe rapture and an unhealthy state of satisfaction due to her recent promotion from Lance Corporal to Sergeant, a rank that she had only fleetingly dreamed of attaining at her age before. She did not even feel truly like a real Sergeant yet; the promotion and its subsequent ceremony not having fully sunk in and dug its proverbial talons into the disillusioned state of her mind quite yet.
Once she had entered the building that provided shelter for the offices within, Keeva was just in time to hear the Sergeant there barking out directions as to what the soldiers should do, and where they should line up. His words seemed rather basic straightforward to her, and she wasted no mental strain over figuring out that her destination was undeniably window number two. Walking leisurely towards the designated section of the room, the soldier thought she recognised a few of the others within its proximity; Yarrow, for one, and Agaenos, for another. A brief, cordial smile lifted one corner of her lips. She would never forget that delightful day when she herself had been lifted from the ranks of Private to become a Lance Corporal. The joy and bliss she had experienced on that day could even have surpassed those emotions and feelings she felt now; it had, after all, meant climbing the first rung on the ladder to superiority within the Abestatian army.
Upon reaching the window, the woman bestowed a cheerful smile at the clerk behind it, extending one hand to proffer her military ID.
“Serale. I’m Sergeant Keeva Lasant-Kaldres, and I’ve been newly promoted from the ranks of Lance Corporal.”
Not knowing what else to say, and not truly savouring the notion of staying within the confines of the room to engage in meaningless, trivial chat, the woman then waited for the clerk’s response, and to be told any relevant information that she would need to know in regard to her newly awarded rank.

Ashford looked over the documents, and nodded, confirming everything was in order.
"Right, right. A private. Right. You privates share rooms with three others of your rank, right? We've got a space in room 307A. It's yours."
He walked away for a moment, and returned with a book and a key. Opening up the book, he held out a quill to Atticus and pointed with a finger tip where he wanted the new Private to sign.
"Just sign there please, right? Need to keep track of who's bunking where, and so forth."
Once Atticus had done so, Ashford waited a moment for the ink to dry, then shut the book with a snap. He then handed over the small bronze door key to Atticus with something resembling a warning.
"Right. Lose that and the pay for the lock change'll come out your wages, right? So don't lose it, right?"

Atticus bent down and signed the paper.
"Alright, is that it?" Smiling, he was happy to join his companions.
Atticus felt that was it, till he remebered what he wanted to ask. "Um, who will I be living with? All men, I presume, but who?"

The clerk nodded.
"Yup. Hold on, let me check."
Ashford peered at the book in front of him again, then reeled off a list of names.
"Okay, you're sharing with Ronnie Garnald, Biff Thunderaxe, Ssss'rassssil, annnnnnnnnnnnnd.... oh, Yusan Rigran'ore. Don't ask me who they are, I've never heard of 'em. One of them sounds a bit dwarvish, though."

It was unfortunate that Duncan’s first stop had been the base ‘Aedile’ as it were, mainly because the man seemed to lack eyes and Duncan had got on very well with the guard. Had he not he might have been in a receptive mood to the general base idiocy, instead he found his first example of it looking right at him; for as Sheng had remembered Agaenos, so Duncan would remember this man.
As the Sergeant looked at his clipboard and kept reading Duncan stepped up so that he was nose to nose with the man and coughed quietly to get his attention. The Psionic blue eyed, white haired Captain of the Imperial Mage Corps hadn’t changed out of his uniform, he’d just come straight here from the gates.
“Sergeant, I’m only going to say this once, very clearly, I’m not here for any of the reasons you stated, I just want a bunk for a few brightenings. Now either you can get your head out of your ass and get me one or we can start this again and I won’t be polite. The gate guard had the right idea, it seems sense in these parts decreases as I find people with higher ranks.”
He smiled, all teeth, waiting for some kind of response and perfectly ready to break the man’s head open, why not enjoy life after all?
"Also, you can tell me where to find the newly located General Kaldres, that is when you know."
OOC: I know your behind on Sheng, no worries; I'd just like somewhere to stay so I can continue my plot with Agaenos.

Yarrow glanced over as she heard a new voice...or at least a new voice to her ears. She glanced about, wondering who it was and what he wanted, but decided that he was probably not talking to her anyway. She turned back around and waited for her turn once more.
