OOC: The Ins and Outs of the Abestat City Guard

1. Structure and Rankings

Commander: The one and only. The Commander of the city guard controls all the troops and is only answerable to the thane of the city. The Commander makes all the major decisions that affect the force and is in charge of things like pay rates and troop distribution.

Captain: The Guard has a total of three Captains. Each Captain is in charge of a Company, thus there is three companies in total, named Delta, Theta and Kappa. All PCs are in Delta Company.

Lieutenant: Each company consists of ten Platoons. A platoon is headed by a Lieutenant. In total, there is 30 Platoons and Lieutenants in the Guard.

Sergeant: Each Platoon in the Guard consists of ten Squads. A squad consists of ten soldiers and are controlled by Sergeants, who are responsible for the overseeing and wellbeing of the soldiers in their own squad. All PCs are in Kraken or Hellbear Squad.

Corporal: Corporals are the second-in-command of Sergeants, and are responsible for overseeing their squad if their Sergeant becomes incapacitated, and generally helping their Sergeant out in any way they can. Each Squad usually has one or two Corporals.

Private: The bottom of the chain, Privates are members of the Guard that make up the bulk of the force, new and old recruits alike.

2. Equipment

Each PC should have been given these items when they signed up. If you do not have any of these things, then you can assume you've had them all along.

One Military Identification Card - Given out when recruitment, Military ID cards list such things as a soldiers company, platoon, and squad, and the date they started service.

One Abestat City Guard Dress Uniform - Worn on special occasions such as promotion and medal ceremonies, this uniform consists of trousers, shirt, blazer, hat and gloves in the colours of the military. Short leather boots complete the outfit.

Two Abestat City Guard Street Uniforms - Consisting of a pair of plain black trousers, black leather boots, a leather shirt and chain mail tunic (one tunic for both uniforms), and a tabard bearing the symbol of the city of Abestat.

One melee weapon of the soldiers choice - When signing up, the new recruit gets to choose what sort of melee weapon they desire to use and ultimately, be trained in. This may or may not include a shield, depending on the weapon chosen.

One light crossbow and quiver of bolts - as a missile weapon, all recruits are given a standard issue light crossbow and twenty bolts stored in a quiver.

One chain coif or plate mail helmet - Though not a uniform requirement, recruits are given the added protection of a helmet should they want to wear one. A choice is given between chain mail or plate.

3. Payrates

Commander - 400 crowns per cycle
Captain - 320 crowns per cycle
Lieutenant - 200 crowns per cycle
Sergeant - 140 crowns per cycle
Corporal - 90 crowns per cycle
Private - 40 crowns per cycle
