Barracks Administration Centre

Situated in the cluster of buildings not far from the gates of the district themselves, the Barracks Administration Centre was located in the Base Headquarters rather than the housing district of the military base. The building itself, like most of those in the district, had been built from stone, but it had a rough-hewn look that suggested not as much time had been spent on it than certain others, being only a basic office environment inside.

Since it dealt with assigning both new and old recruits rooms in the barracks and places to stay, not to mention guests to the base, the place was always busy, and it was rare not to see a uniformed body or two milling around outside the office whilst they inspected their new room key, or waited for the line inside to subside a little.

Once inside the office, it was easy to tell that it was a lot bigger than the other few that had been dotted around the headquarters. In the background, a couple of clerks worked away at paperwork, whilst a queue formed at a bigger, more central desk in the area, behind which was seated a female dwarf in a privates uniform. Working in the Barracks office often seemed like Aeternia on Telath, so it was obvious that she'd drawn the short straw when the jobs where handed out.

The dwarf's long, chestnut coloured beard had been plaited neatly, and was currently trimmed with purple and gold ribbons, two of the three colours of the Abestat City Guard. Her hair (on her head) had just been left loose and fell to just below shoulder length. As she finished dealing with one customer, she waved the next person in the queue towards her.

"Serale. What can I do for you? Are you new, needing a room, or do you need an upgrade due to promotion? Or perhaps you're a guest to the base needing accommodation?"

Timestamp:

Around twenty minutes after meeting General Kaldres, timestamp depends on when his office was put up.

OOC: Probably got the timestamp wrong, I KNOW this isn’t allowed but unfortunately there’s no other way for me to go back and do this cycle’s worth of ‘work’ without messing up my fluid time and…well, if I don’t do it then I get into lots of trouble so a little leeway would be appreciated, I’ll be ‘here and gone’ in an IC cycle.

IC:

Preparation, that was what this was all about. Duncan it was true was going to do the job Sheng had set him out to do and do it well but there was more to it than that, Duncan Sythe, he suspected, would in the near or far future be a shunned name, events very near to this date had proved to him that there was danger in sticking to a single name and a need to have many to hand. Now he had the ideal tool to do that.

But also this brightening was one to work on his selection of new candidates to lead the Mage Corps, the group was highly disparaged and although some had come with Sheng not all had, he needed to reconstitute what he had and introduce new individuals.

So first to business; to find who he had available. Having changed to his Commanders tabs and still without a room after visiting Sheng Duncan approached the administration building. Stepping inside, one hand lightly closing the door behind him the strangely blue eyed, silver haired human; now ranked as a full Commander, extended papers and visa to the woman at the task before speaking.

“I’m with General Kaldres, the new Commander of the Mage Corps. If its not too much trouble I need a simple room and access to any records brought with the General or made since his arrival, I want to make a tally of all former Mage Corps personnel who have come here.”

OOC: No problem. Leeway granted

IC: The Private on duty nodded at Duncan's request and went about seeing to it, since it wasn't anything particularly unusual. The base had a small block of rooms set aside for visitors, and even if it had become full room was made in the normal barracks. The Dwarven clerk flashed Duncan a smile before replying to his query.

"That shouldn't be a problem, sir. We have several spare rooms currently in the visitors block. Just let me make some inquiries and fetch you a key."

The Dwarf left her desk and wandered away into the office, weaving her way around other soldiers and desks in the building and disappeared into a back office. Meanwhile, the queue behind Duncan extended by a few feet whilst the private searched for a room. After only a wait of a few minutes the dwarf returned, carrying a document of some sort of document in her hand accompanied by an iron key attached to a keyring holding a large rectangular piece of wood. Sitting down at the desk again she adjusted her beard for a moment before getting back to business.

"Now then... if you could just sign here..." The Private gestured to a line of the parchment and then to a quill pen that stood in a simple stand on her desk. "It's just to say the room's now occupied. When you return the key on your depature it will be struck of the list. You're in room V7. That's on the ground floor of the visitors block, which is to the north of here. If you keep walking in that direction you can't miss it."

Finished dealing with the room, the dwarven women paused and considered Duncan's latter request.

"Well, I can check the records if you like, but I'm fairly certain you're the first person to request a room who mentioned General Kaldres. Of course, if they stayed elsewhere, a tavern in town for example, though that's unlikely, I can't really help you."

“Very well.”

Duncan confirmed with a nod, waiting for the Private to return and signing swiftly for the room before taking the key, not that he was finished yet though, he was determined to get somewhere with the Mage Corps before the end of the day.

“Its quite alright Private, I didn’t expect miracles, I would however appreciate any arrivals formerly of the Mage Corps to make themselves known to me at the room or leave a note, you understand that if I have to reconstitute a unit I need to have some men to put in it?”

He inquired with a small smile, no doubt unnerving the man given his appearance, not that it could be helped.

The Private looked down at the forum as Duncan signed, making a note of the man's name. She put the parchment aside, waiting for the black ink to dry before she filed it, lest the signature became smudged and unreadable. She nodded in acknowledgement of Duncan's request.

"That's fine, Mr... Sythe. If any other members of the Mage Corps check in here, be assured that I'll send them directly too you once they have been given a room."

The fact that the dwarven woman was only a little put-out by the man's strange colourings was a little surprising, but it seemed that the Private had so much work to do that she merely didn't have time to register anyone's outward appearence. Already a line had been forming behind Duncan, and the dwarf leaned sidewards a little to see exactly how many more people needed to be dealth with.

Giving the Mystcist a small but brittle smile she said, more or less in parting, "Is there anything else I can help you with, or is your business here finished, sir?"

“No, thank you private.”

Duncan said, returning the smile, however insincere. He’d hoped there might be at least some mage corps members around, even if they were ones he hadn’t had much interaction with…but that was how things went, he may have to petition to the base commander for any magi he could…loot.

But thus he left the administration offices and at least he had a bed for the night now.
