Staff Sergeant Silverwind's Office

For logistical reasons, this office is located just off the main gates, and if Sergeant Silverwind is not around, it is staffed by a non-commissioned officer. Anytime a gate guard has a problem that requires the attention or intervention of a supervisor, they go here. Those wishing to join the militia, or who have a problem with how a gate guard treated them may go here as well.

Entering, you see a large square room, the white walls lavishly decorated with decorations. The floor was heavily carpeted and you can feel your footsteps sink in the carpet as you walk. Inside the office you come to stand in front of a large ebony desk behind which a black haired man, balding on the top of his head, is sitting, engrossed in some documents. The nameplate "SSgt Daniel Silverwind" is clearly set in front, so there's no guesswork involved in who is there.

Upon your entering, Staff Sergeant Silverwind looks up, small brown eyes in a round face piercing in your direction. He seems to be sizing you up in front of him for a moment, looking from head to toe. Apparently satisfied, he looks you in the eyes.

"Yes, what do you want?" he asked curtly, partly snapping the words out.

Tenshin bowed his head to SSG Silverwind,"Yes, I have come here for work, I'm interested in joining the military here, and I was told you were the man to speak to about this,"Tenshin said as professionally as possible.

The sergeant seemed to dismiss his curt attitude almost immediately at Tenshin's words and smiled. "A new recruit, eh? Serale sir." With that he moved some papers around on his desk until he found what he needed. "Aha, here it is."

The sergeant then handed the man an application form. It read:

Have you ever had any weapon training?
In Arcana training?
Why are you interested in the military?

The sergeant then winked with yet another smile. "Fill that out, son, and I will be right here if you need help. When you're done hand it back to me, and be sure to sign your name below." He pointed at the bottom of the page where there was an x and a line next to it, then continued whatever he was doing before Tenshin arrived. Tenshin could see there were two bottles of black ink and two quill pens on the desk, one set at the sergeant's right side and one next to Tenshin. All he would need to do now is fill out the form.

As Talarin walked into the building that the guards pointed out his eyes quickly adjusted to difference in the light from outside to in and closed the door as he began to approached the only desk in the room he stopped a couple of feet away from the edge and waited for the attention of the man sitting behind the desk.

Once he had the man's attention Talarin stated "Serale Sir, I was sent by Capitan Yarrow Woodruff and a new recruit."

The sergeant looked bemusedly at the new entrant, his eyes moving up and down, sizing the man up. He smiled and beckoned the man to take a seat opposite him at the desk.

“Ah yes, Yarrow. She has sent you has she? Then you must want to sign up for the Abestat military, yes?”

He chuckled, shifting some papers around finding what he was looking for, pulled it out and slid it across the table. It read:

“If you wish to be recruited into the military, simply fill out this form, which will be followed by a small interview to see what kind of experience you have already. Then you will be ready to join. Do you understand?”

He slid an extra inkwell and a quill pen in front of Talarin and continued his paperwork, scribbling away at many, most likely unneeded, military forms.

Talarin filled out the paper that was in front of him:

Why are you interested in the military? For a good job as well as to protect my home and neighbours.

The Staff Sergeant accepted the man's paper after he filled it out, looked it over briefly, then set it on the table, looking curiously over at Talarin.

"You say your home city is currently Abestat. Does that mean you were born elsewhere? And if you would care to elaborate as to why you are interested in joining. Obviously you didn't just decided to join the military. How did Yarrow convince you?"
