The Commander's Office
Situated near the gates of the district themselves, the Commander's office was a building made out of the dark granite stone that a lot of the more up market structures in Abestat were typically made from. But apart from that, however, there was nothing particularly special about it. It was quite square and blocky in appearance, but the two small flower beds that had been planted either side of the entrance were kept well clipped and tended all year round.
The door to the office was generally always propped open, since the Commander tended to have a lot of visitors or people wishing to make an appointment. The heavy oak door had been wedged open with a simple piece of wood, that had been stuck under the door to prevent it from swinging shut or slamming in windy weather.
The interior of the building was actually, firstly, a reception area of sorts, where people could book an appointment, or sit and wait for the Commander to see them. Springy carpet bounced underfoot, and a smallish wooden desk had been situated in the middle of the room. The walls were adorned by two portraits of serious looking, grey-haired men who were, presumably, commanders of times past.
Behind the desk sat a female soldier in a Corporal's uniform, slightly hidden behind a haphazard pile of paperwork that had been stacked up on the desktop. Her brown hair had been tied back into a serviceable bun, and her eyes, of the same colour, were studying a little leather-bound book that looked rather like an appointments diary. She was human, and looked fairly young, probably in her early twenties, if that. She looked up, and smiled in a slightly vague way as she noticed that someone had entered the room.
"Serale. Do you have an appointment to see the Commander? Or would you like to make one?"
