Lord Lastra & Admiral Zythinar

Following the departure of the Arkduni ship, Zythinar and his three marines stood with Lord Lastra outside the Bloomsbury. "That was a close shave, I would say," commented the Admiral. "Could have started a civil war. Well, I am glad that the use of force was not necessary. I am a fighting man, but I prefer diplomacy whenever it is possible." Zythinar regarded the man who seemed to be the driving force behind this city. "Now that the Arkduni's are gone, and the rebellious Thane has been removed, what are your plans for Abestat, Milord?"

Chuckling Lord Enamere Lastra patted Zythinar's shoulder.
" It was pretty exciting. I am only glad that you and Carns arrived when you had. Things went much smoother then I had expected. Expect the worst, hope for the best as they say." Though he respected the Arkdun for their loyalities, he would not forgive them for threatening his fair city. His family had worked hard to make this city what it was; his own feirce loyalities for her showing time to time. He gestured to the Bloomsbury.
" A drink Admiral? I think mayhap a meal would be the least we owe you for your assistance." He jested.

He was meeting Meladora, but Lord Lastra knew she wouldn't mind. She needed to aquaint herself with people like the Admiral with her new position. Lord Enamere Lastra couldn't help but swell with pride. His lovely daughter, Lady Thane. A dream he had always had for his family. In all his forty-five years, nothing had made him more proud then to hear the title Lady Thane attached to his daughter. He grinned and laughed.
" And Admiral, you can call me Enam, as sir you have made a new friend." Enam lead the Admiral into the Bloomsbury, boldly going into the booth that was private for the Thane. He sat down, teasing the maid who followed them in. He looked to the Admiral.
" The Lady Thane should be joining us soon. How about the drink, while we wait?"

"A drink would be most welcome, Lord...ah...Enam." Zythinar sat with Lord Lastra and awaited his drink. The Admiral motioned to his three marines to take a table nearby. Zythinar assumed that Lord Lastra and this new Thane would wish to converse with the Admiral in private. "You mentioned a Lady Thane," Zythinar continued. "Then I take it that you have already replaced the previous Thane with a candidate who is more loyal to the Empire?"

Enam raised his dark brows in question. " I figured rumor would reach the who city by now." He shook his raven clad head. " Well no matter. Actually this city is blessed once again with a true Abestatian. My own daughter, Lady Meladora." Just as he spoke her name Meladora was entering the Inn. She wore a hunter green long cloak. The hood pulled back and bunched on her back. She wore a long gown of deep purple, black and gold trim, her attire in public would be these proud colors. Her raven black hair pulled back into a loose bun, small tenderals hunged her heart shaped face. Not far behind her was the Katta, Kailee. They walked gracefully to the booth and Kailee pulled the curtain back for Meladora to enter. Her breath hitched when she caught sight of her father sitting with the Admiral.

She was speachless. Kailee pressing a hand to the small of Meladora's back pushed her friend into the room before she embaressed herself. Kailee cleared her throat, speaking in a female Katta's husky voice. " Sirs, the Lady Thane has entered her booth, have you no respect for her, that you don't stand when she enters?" Kailee said, trying to hide Meladora's shocked state. Enam chuckled standing. " Aye Kailee, always keep that personality of yours. Even her father must respect her position." He turned to the Admiral. " May I present Lady Thane, Meladora Lastra."

The wench from the pub is the new Thane? Zythinar thought to himself. And the daughter of Lord Lastra? Abestat is an interesting place, indeed.

The Admiral rose and bowed slightly to the new Thane. "I see that you have been promoted since the last time we met, lady." The Admiral smiled. "Well, no one can say that Abestat is not a city of opportunity. Congratulations to you and to your father."

Meladora heard Kailee growl low. She had given her a lecture about bantering in the tavern with the Admiral, when Big Red had teased her about it in front of Kailee.

"No good would come of this Mel, now you look foolish in his eyes. He will tell others about your little secret and then no one will take you seriously." Kailee had told her. But she had waved a hand to ward her off. " It wasn't my fault Kai, how did I know that the Admiral would be coming in. The plan was set that no one with class would enter there. How was I to know he would join his men?"

Now the Admiral was insulting her with his words. Kailee wouldn't care if he meant to or not. In fact the Katta's hair was prickled on her nape and was glaring at the Admiral. Lord Lastra put a hand up and Kailee lowered her head and excused herself, flinging the curtain out of her way, standing just outside it. Enamere sat back down after Meladora took her seat, keeping her eyes on her father. She didn't greet the Admiral until she had her senses about her. Enamere spoke before she could.
" This is a most unusual situation Admiral. My Daughter was hiding out in the Tavern from the last Thane, no one knew of her, so it was easy to pass her off as a wench. She's grown up on a ship. I won't take your words as an insult, you could not know that Meladora is my daughter and a lady of the highest respect in Abestat. In fact not many knew of her until this cycle." Meladora swallowed and then spoke. " Yes, I am sorry you were deceived by my act Admiral. My father was in danger and myself as well. We did what we could to protect ourselves. I hope you could understand that."

"Oh, I think you both misunderstand me, Milord and Lady," Zythinar responded with an even broader smile. "I am quite pleased to see that a woman of wit and courage has been appointed to rule this city. Moreover, you have both proven your loyalty to the Empire by opposing the Arkduni rebels." The Admiral gazed at Lord Lastra and the Lady Thane in turn. "If either of you have taken any of my words as insulting, I do apologize. Despite the fact that I have been educated, I grew up a poor orphan in Prime, and at times I fall back into a more brusque manner."
