Archadoon's Sanctum and Orphanage
~ Archadoon's Sanctum and Orphanage ~
It had been constructed after the fires in the month of Optia, a handful of monks, druids, and priestesses coming together despite their difference to construct the stone Sanctum. It was not large by any means, nor was it small - some would say quaint but others still would turn their nose up at it nonetheless. At the sight of all the homeless children about, it had soon turned also into an Orphanage.
No set deity was worshiped here, walking through the large double doors colored light filtered in from stained glass windows, rosy hues warming the cold hardwood benches and stone structure. On the wall opposite to the entry doors several alters where constructed from simple stone and were aflame, casting their light onto the room. Each alter and set of tiered steps for a different God or Goddess.
To the left of these alters was a wide open archway leading to the left tower of the sanctum which consisted of three floors, on each floor there were 6 rooms, able to sleep two a piece. They were the rooms of the orphaned children, equipped with a bed and blankets, a chest, and a nightstand with a pitcher and washing bowl.
Alternately the right tower consisted of rooms fro the caretakers and founders of the Sanctum, as well as a classroom, on the lowest levels was the kitchen. Anyone in need could always come in for a meal, often they were simple and plain, but that never bothered hungry stomachs.
Off to one side was a hallway that led to a divided room. One was a washing room, the other a bathing room, and the last was guest rooms - where anyone seeking sanctuary could rest for the night and have a meal.
Behind the Sanctum was a sizable garden and chicken coop along with a pig pen. The owners of Archadoon's Sanctum and Orphanage tried to keep themselves on their feet by themselves, it didn't always work, but it was a heartfelt notion that gave everyone something productive to do in their free time. The duck pond was often a delight to the smaller children who not only loved to chase the ducks, but try to catch the fish in the pond as well.

25th Optia, Era XIV
After the fire. Tenth candlemark after dawn.
Three candlemarks passed since the arrival of the grey furred dorin to the city of Archadoon but he already saw the disaster. The dorin who has faced such a disaster in his home city Arakmat knew how difficult those times were and he could not but empathise with the population of the city.
When he heard that an orphanage was built in the city, he could not think about any other place to visit but there. He headed to the modest building and he had clear ideas. He was there to give back what he received from the city of Archadoon; he was lost and it offered him a direction, he was alone and it offered him company, he was outcast and it offered him shelter.
As he entered the hall of the building he moved to one of the altars and silently he bowed to the god of honour, him who leads the brave hearts and the just. He then walked to where he could find a priest to speak to.
"Feslan. I am Godah Yaoh Olohan, the Ambassador of Arakmat and a resident of this fair city. I was away when the disaster happened and I just arrived from a long trip."
He paused and thought about the responsibility he had toward this city and toward Arakmat. He belonged to both and he could not abandon any of them. He would do his best to help them both and his company was just meant to achieve that.
"I have heard of your establishment and I wanted to give you a visit and express my support. I have lived myself such a disaster and know how the need for people like is strong. I am member of the Legion of Justice, an organisation that works to help the weakest of our brothers."
He was in fact a member of the triumvirate that guided the Legion of Justice and he knew that helping the orphanage was just what the Legion was meant to exist for.
"I, so, come to give you a deposit of twenty thousand crowns as a donation. I hope that it will help you get the establishment working better."
Of course, that was just a first step. He would come back again to visit them and he had ideas about making the orphanage become a place that radiated the ideals of mercy and generosity.

Godah found three of the five founders in simple woven brown robes, but instead of kneeling at an assigned alter, they bowed their heads before them all, whispering their thanks to the deities - their voices hushed rose and fell in harmony, whispering around the large stone room. Children dashed to and fro, they wore thread-bare clothes, but they were clean and the children's eyes laughed happily as they passed on about their chores and whatever else they were up to.
The Tigron raised his massive head and nodded to their Dorin visitor, beside him was a dark-haired Human, and a Sylrosian Elf.
"Serale, Godah of Two-Cities," rumbled the Tigron in a low and gentle voice. "We are honored by your presence in our humble establishment for the less-fortunate. Your donation is very honorable and generous, but we decided as a family, so forgive me as I leave to summon the other two to assembly."
The Tigron quickly glided away from the group and disappeared up a set of spiral stairs.
"Your generation is most generous, but it is not often we accept such a generous amount, you do understand," began the dark-haired woman. "Still we pride ourselves on virtues, but we hope to utilize your donation with the utmost efficiency."
The Tigron entered the room, two humble Human scholars at his side, squinty-eyed and wrinkled with age, long beards snow-white covering their chins. "Kilaro informed us of your decision to donate to Archadoon's Sanctum and Orphanage, I believe it is safe to say on a whole that we are most humbled by the amount of your donation."
The founders all murmured in agreement.
"I trust you will visit us again soon, yes?" pipped the other old Human, clearly a spitfire despite his age and aching joints. "Is there anything in particular you would like us to improve upon, Godah of Arakmat?"
He shook his cane at a pair of youngsters squabbling - a Dorin and a Katta - both fairly young. "Now ceast you two, ruffians! Lets not forget kindness and forgiveness are a virtues!" Reluctantly the two let go of each other and apologized. "Thank you!" the old man wheezed.

Godah noticed the surprise on the faces of the priests and he considered that to be normal since it was not that common to have sudden donations. He didn't feel stressed by the need to give notice to other older priests and he welcomed the questions of the white-snow beared humans. After all, he was there not only to give crowns and leave but to create a strong tie of trust and solid partnership.
"I thank you for accepting this simple donation and giving me the occasion to help this fair city, that I consider as my home even if I didn't see the first light here"
Godah's voice was calm even though the reverberation of his natural animal part caused his common to sound more a growl than anything else. He tried often to smooth the effect of his canine ancestor's trait but it was too identified to hi voice that trying to erase it would end up with him keeping silent.
"I plan on visiting this place in the future to give more support and help in as many ways as I could. I am not in the position to dictate you how to care after this place as it is your will that built it but we, at the Legion of Justice, want to create a strong base to build an able corp who would bring relief wherever there is suffer"
In fact, he discussed briefly with the other elders of the Legion of Justice and they concluded to the necessity of an organisation that would be able to help the populations after a disaster. From his own experience, the dorin knew that local governments were often in dire situations after a disaster and those were often unable to help the populations. It happened in Imperia, in Arakmat and in Archadoon and it will happen elsewhere. Unless the relief teams were trained.
"I think that we can train people who are willing to help and learn them how to organise fast actions and field help to populations in precarious state. That is a project I want to share with you and hopefully fund by donations from a company I plan on starting here in Archadoon"
The Eastern Arakmatan Company was a project the dorin was going to lead to completion for the benefit of both Arakmat and Archadoon. Palacrisis has given him all power to negotiate with the government of Archadoon and assured him of enough funds, reaching millions, to make it succeed.

"You are wise for your age, Godah," smiled one of the elderly Humans. "You are welcome to stay and grab a bite to eat, but we all have our duties to return to, not to be rude, but it is quite a handful to run." With that the two old men returned to their class, moving off in a slow shuffling pace.
"You may leave your donation with one of us whenever you please, Shawna is still working on a donation box for us," the Tigron gestured to the dark-haired woman. "Have a good brightening, Godah of Two-Cities." Soon they began to go about their duties, but if the Dorin wished to speak with one of them, they would certainly stop and make conversation.
OoC: Sorry to keep you waiting.

The Return
The Month of Imperos, Brighitening 1 in the Season of Autumn, Era II of the Celestine Mandate, Era XIV Post Fractum
After entering the city for the first time in eras, Kalan found his way back to the orphanage he had briefly called home. Due to the passing of time, he couldn't remember whether the building had changed any during his absence. However, the interior left him feeling slightly nostalgic as he looked around. While he stood in the entrance to the Sanctum and orphanage, Kalan wondered if he should first try to pay tribute to one of the gods or goddesses. He decided against it, however.
Better to live as an open sinner than a false saint, he thought to himself as he looked around the building. The Jagara had no intention of staying very long; he simply needed to find anybody who might remember him. If nobody remembered him, at the very least he needed to find somebody who took care of the orphans. There had to be some record of his stay here, and hopefully a record of who his mother was.

The great Tigron was knelt before an alter, quietly paying homage to his God and Goddess.
"Greetings from the Suns," he said simply, not even turning to face the newcomer. His robes were simple and plain, but they rippled with the muscle as he rose to his feet, bowed before the Gods and Goddesses once more before turning. Cool, distant eyes regarded the Jagara in total silence. "I am Kilaro, how may I be of assistance?"
His paw-like hands gracefully folded together as he studied the Katta in question before his dark ears flicked on top of his orange and black head - faded with the white of age.

As the Tigron rose to his feet, Kalan took notice of the cool distant look in his eyes. At the sound of his voice, he tried to remember whether or not Kilaro had been one of the many who had raised him. However, now wasn't the time to wonder about such things.
Kalan made a fist with is right hand and placed it over his heart as he nodded in Kilaro's direction. It was his idea of a formal greeting. Afterwards, he held up one finger to indicate he needed a moment; he then reached into a pocket and removed a piece of parchment and a charcoal pencil. For a moment, he simply stood there writing. Once he was done, he handed the parchment over to the Tigron.
I apologize for the wait, but I am unable to speak. The reason I came is because I was one of the orphans here once; when I was five I ran away. I was hoping that you would have any kind of information about my mother. All I know of her is that her last name is K'Raecen.
After handing the parchment to the Tigron, he waited with his hands held in the small of his back. The young Jagara couldn't help but feel a sense of hope. After all, this was the beginning of his journey to discover his roots.

The Tigron stood patiently and waited for the young katta, his old wise eyes unblinking as he waited patiently and then accepted the note - then, he smiled and handed the note back and began to wave his hands in sign language.
His hands spoke. :No reason to apologize, I am afraid that you are mistaken. This sanctum was built soon after the fires not an Era ago. However, we do have some documents from previous orphanages from Archadoon before they were lost to the fires. If you will follow me, I can show them to you.:

As the Tigron began using sign language, Kalan's face reflected the appreciation of being able to communicate quickly. When he learned that he hadn't stayed at this particular orphanage, his hope didn't dwindle. There were still records, and there was no telling what he would find. Kalan knew that there was a chance the records of his mother had been destroyed in the fires, but at the moment there was still room for hope. So, with a nod he agreed to follow the Tigron in order to examine the remaining records.

:Follow me: Kilaro signed and smiled at the Katta, partially turning his back and leading him into the bowels of the Sanctum. Down a flight of stone stairs, into the darkness, the Tigron priest lit the torches as they continued down a narrow corridor with a maze of doors and dead-ending hallways.
Finally they came to the end and the Tigron unbolted a heavy door that swung forward on silent hinges before turning back to Kalan. :Here is the record room, it is in a bit of a chaotic state, but I will help you go through the books.: He lit a small covered lamp and quickly hooded it. Musty volumes lay stacked in a book shelf.

Kalan followed the priest as he led the way. He took notice that Kilaro was lighting torches as they passed them; however, he couldn't help but keep a map of the directions they had taken. In the event that the Tigron turned out to have some sort of malicious intent, Kalan would not be caught wandering helplessly through the labyrinthine corridors he was being led through.
As Kilaro opened the door to the records room, Kalan took note of how unorganized the room appeared. He assumed it was from the recent disaster, and precious little time had been set aside to organize records while there were people who still needed to be tended to. Kalan turned his eyes to the Tigron, and nodded his head in reply.
::It may take a while, but there's no sense in waiting around. The last name I'm looking for is K'Raecen.:: Kalan signed back. He took a step forward and examined the books all stacked on shelves. With a shrug, he moved to the closest shelf and pulled a dust covered book from the top. The Jagara sat, cross-legged, and began to look through the pages. It was tedious work, but once he had finished looking through that book, he set it to the side and continued his search working from the top of the shelf to the bottom.
