Information gathering for the one called Grilly(open to all)
TS: Brightening 5, Month of Optia, Season Summer, Era II, Era XIV
Runedas found himself walking through the city in a state of shock. He' had never seen a city as big as this one. It automatically seemed like he was lost in the crowd. He made sure he stopped every once and awhile to see if Suvia was still close behind. It wouldn't be good i he ended up losing her. He would start to feel guilty and worse, it would mean he would have to postpone his search for the flying dracon Grilly. The Dracon guard at the front gate did not give him too much information, but he did tell Runedas where he could start. The only problem was finding the tavern that the dracon spoke of. He would have to pay careful attention to all of the stores, but at the same time, make sure his new companion was close by. After walking a little more down the street he stopped and turned to Suvia.
"Have you seen this tavern that the guard spoke of yet. I wouldn't want to pass it by mistake and I'm making sure not to lose you in the process." He figured that by now he had passed this tavern somewhere and he had to keep reminding himself that this city is pretty big so there was a chance that he hadn't even come across it. Almost forgetting that he asked her a question, he continued to walk down the street. Just as he was beginning to lose slight hope, he stumbled upon the tavern. " Finally, I found the tavern. Now all I have to do is go in and find this flying dracon." As he approached the door, he spoke to Suvia again. "Let's go inside and see if we can find any information about the dracon. Actually....." He paused. " I almost feel like I'm dragging you into my search. Is there something you wished to do while here? My only goal that I know of is to find Grilly and have him teach me how to use these wings." He said while stretching. " If there is something you need here, just let me know." With that, Runedas turned and opened the door and walked into the tavern.
Runedas had the strangest feeling when he walked into the bar. Almost as if millions of eyes were watching him. Actually it was just a few as everyone in the tavern stopped what they were doing to look at Suvia and Runedas. Feelin uneasy, He mumbled to the merwoman, " This is what it usually looks like when I walk into any other town. Uncomfortable, isn't it?" Just as he began to take a step foward, his tail caught the end of the door. He stumbled and tripped over his own talon, sending him straight to the ground. All he could hear was the sound of his body hitting the floor as everyone roared in laughter. "I can't believe that just happened to me. This is pretty embarrasing." Runedas thought has he picked himself up. After brushing himself off, he and Suvia sat down at a table, waiting for the laughter to die down. He could only imagine what these people thought of him as he came in with a merwoman and then proceeded to trip over himself. Then he thought of Grilly. What if he was in here? Would he even want to train someone that can't even walk correctly? The look of embarrassment crossed his dark red scales and eyes as he let out a deep sigh. " That did not go as planned. I hope he was not in here to see that."

Suvia followed the Dracon through the crowded streets of Archadoon. He turned to her and asked her something about having seen the tavern. She was preparing to respond but was silenced before she could speak as Runedas quickly offered her his back. She heard him mutter something else, but did not inquire, choosing rather to walk closer to him.
The two walked on for a few more moments before the Dracon came to an abrupt stop.
“Let's go inside and see if we can find any information about the Dracon.”
He moved to the door of the building that they had stopped in front of. Taking a quick look around, Suvia couldn’t quell the feeling that Archadoon was as unforgiving as it was massive. While she knew Runedas wouldn’t get any closer to his goal without asking questions, she didn’t like the idea of looking for information in crowded smoky taverns—or at least that was what she thought they were…her mother never spoke highly of them.
Looking back at the Dracon, she noticed that he paid no attention to the name of the establishment they were preparing to enter. Anchors Away…
“Actually…”
The word arrested her attention.
“I almost feel like I'm dragging you into my search. Is there something you wished to do while here? My only goal that I know of is to find Grilly and have him teach me how to use these wings. If there is something you need here, just let me know.”
It was the most the Dracon said since they had left the forest. Once again she prepared to answer, but was met for the second time with the Dracon’s back as he entered the tavern. Runedas seemed to mean well, but he seemed to her so frugal with his words and attention, he cast an almost fidget air about himself. It was alright though…this was her companion—bodyguard, really. She would let him do and behave as he liked with no objection…just as long as she could get what she needed--whatever that was.
The tavern seemed to freeze as the two crossed the threshold of the establishment. The pungent smell of alcohol, vomit and sweat whirled in Suvia’s sensitive nose making her nauseous. Runedas said something about where they were being uncomfortable, but she wasn’t paying much attention--her stomach was turning just a bit too quickly. Taking several even breaths, she stood clear of the door as it began to close. Remaining close to Runedas she stepped in time with him, until she caught out of the corner of her golden eye him crashing to the floor. Her round eyes became wider as she watched the dust outline his Draconian form. She reached her hands out to him, but remained standing…fully aware of her inability to aid him and also that he probably wouldn’t want her to anyway. Both her face and ears burned with embarrassment for the Dracon as the silence of the tavern was drowned by the boisterous laugher that poured over her floored companion. ‘Please get up…’ she thought in her mind as she suddenly became aware of their sudden venerability.
Suvia heard the Dracon growl angrily as he pushed him self up from the filthy tavern floorboards. He fumed something under his breath as he stood again. He seemed okay, but obviously displeased. Looking ahead to the back of the tavern, Suvia scanned all of the many bottles of liquor that lined the far back wall behind the bar. Seeing the very tall and very large barkeep, she gently took the Dracon’s arm.
“Perhaps we should speak with him?”

Runedas turned his head in the direction that Suvia was looking in. The barkeep was fairly large. He wasn't sure if he wanted to go bother him while he was mixing drinks, but he knew he would not have another chance to ask. While he thought about this some more, he finally noticed the smell of the tavern. "Definitely not my favorite place to be right now." He thought as he looked back over at Suvia. She didn't look like she felt too good and to make matters worse, he was sitting here thinking about wether to go talk to the bar keeper. Pushing the thoughts into the back of his mind, he rose from the seat and walked over to the bar, this time, being careful not to trip over anything. He had forgotten that wooden floors were always slightly harder to walk on than city streets of dirt roads. Pretty soon he was at the bar, looking the tall, rather plump man right in the face.
"Excuse me sir, I have heard from a few sources that there is a dracon that comes into a bar around this time of day. His name is Grilly and he's a remarkable flyer. I have travled to this tavern in order to see if it might be this one. Have you seen this flying dracon, and if you have, could your tell me how and where to meet with him. I desperately want to better myself at flying and I believe this may be the only person near that can teach me." As he finished he turned to make sure Suvia was alright. He knew that since she was from the sea, this air must not be very good for her. Looking at the barkeep again, he asked, "Could you get me a glass of water for my friend over there. She dosen't look so good and I would like to help her out." The man looked at Runedas for quite some time while he was mixing drinks. It almost looked as if he wasn't going to respond to the few simple questions that he asked. The young dracon convinced himself that he was not going out of the door until he knew if Grilly came in here or not. Taking a deep breath, he sat on a stool facing then man at the bar. Anxiously tapping a claw on the counter, he waited long and listened hard for a response.

The man at the bar watched the happens which unfolded before his eyes. He frowned at the sight of the dracon and his clumsiness then laughed for it was the best sight he had seen in a while. "These two can not possible be here for drinks." He thought to himself and prepared himself for what was to come as they made their approach to the counter.
His face changed for a laughing smile to a quick frown when the dracon started to speak. On and on and on he went and all the he wanted was for him to shut his trap. Of course he waited until he was done to make any comment. "You talk way to much boy. Anyway the one you seek is sitting over there in the far corner.

Runedas felt his cheeks start to burn once again as the bar tender told him that the dracon he was looking for was sitting in a corner of the tavern. What would he say to him? He could go up and just ask him for help, but surely Grilly saw him hit the floor with his face. Needing just a little more motivation, he turned to Suvia. "He's right over there. Grilly is right there. How did I miss him? You think he saw what happened?" He started to notice that his mouth was moving way to fast and too many words were coming out. Each time he finished a question, Suvia parted her lips to speak, but was cut of by his constant ranting. Runedas took a few deep breaths and after listening to her responses, he walked over to the corner of the bar.
Grilly was a awfully big dracon. Even as he was sitting, he was looking straight into Runedas's face as he stopped a few steps from his table. Grilly was a tough looking dracon with dark green, almost black eyes and scales to match. He looked like he had incredible wing strength, as it seemed as if one smack from a wing would seen Runedas flying halfway across the room. Sharp, long claws grew from his hands and were sharp enough to split the table in half if he even tapped his finger too hard. Anyone that tried to stand up to this dracon was just asking to be killed. Runedas could only wonder what Suvia was thinking as she approached behind him. "Heh....if she thought that I was intimidation.....she had no idea!" It was far too late in order for him to turn away, so he did what he came into the tavern to do. Hesitating for a moment, he began to speak.
"S'cuse me? You must be Grilly. I've heard that you are an excellent flyer. My name is Runedas and I was hoping that you could show me how to fly. I already has a little experience in basic flight, but I was wondering if you could teach me something a little more......advanced." It almost sounded like he was pleading with Grilly. In oder to make it sound more important to him, he looked right at him and said, "I need to know how to fly. I have been trying to teach myself for a long time. Every time i have tried, I have failed. With your training, I'll be able to take to the skies." Grilly's expression never changed as he looked and listened to Runedas. The entire time he spoke, the dark green dracon tapped a talon, as if to tell him to speed up this conversation. When the young dracon finally finished, Grilly stared at him, began to open his mouth, and yawned, exposing a set of extremely sharp teeth. He then picked up the mug of beer and drunk from it. Runedas turned to look at Suvia. She hadn't moved since they got to the table. He wasn't sure what she was thinking, but it looked like she didn't trust this towering dracon too much. As he turned to look at Grilly again, he cleared his throat and began to speak.

Suvia followed Runedas as he made his way over to the large Dracon sitting alone in the corner. The creature was massive--much larger than Runedas--and so far the largest person she had seen. He had a large and powerful build, with a presence to match. She stood quietly by as Runedas said his piece. After he had finished, the Dracon Grilly drunk whatever beverage in his mug, then yawned widely, revealing many sharp teeth. Before the two began their exchange, Suvia spoke quickly yet softy to Runedas.
“I going to return to the bar…come for me please after you have finished.” Looking to the larger Dracon, she placed a hand below her neck and gave a respectful nod, excusing herself from the meeting.
Should this Grilly agree to aid Runedas in his endeavor, Suvia would need to do something else with herself. Who knew how long that training would take? As she moved across the tavern floor back to the bar, she couldn’t keep her mother’s words from echoing through her head; ‘find someone to teach you to sing’.
She looked around the tavern, which was filled with all sorts of undesirable likes. A few of them looked in her direction, then returned back to their drinks while others fixed their gaze to her person and followed every move she made. Her eyes had adjusted well to the low light of the tavern, allowing her to notice all these things. With her pupils being able to become so large in response to low light levels, she could image that her golden eyes now appeared completely black—perhaps even unpleasant. Approaching again the bar, she began to speak with the man behind it.
“Water, please sir” she said simply. Judging by how he regarded Runedas moments before, she figured it wise to be sparse with her words and quick with her point.
The barkeep raised a bushy eyebrow as he moved around behind his bar to give Suvia her request. Wrapping her hands around the large mug, she took a small sip then looked back to him. “Do you know of anyone who could teach me to sing?”
The man now truly looked surprised.
“If I could find someone who could give me a few voice lessons, I wonder if it would be okay if I sung here in your tavern.”
The barkeep stared at her a while more as he wiped down a glass. The very most he could do was answer no to both of those questions. If it came to that, she could simply inquire somewhere else at a later time, but seeing as that he answered Runedas’ question, perhaps he would be willing to answer her questions as well.

Runedas:
Grilly listened the young dracon babble on and on about flying and failing until he finally decided to shut his trap. Grilly yawned and looked deep into the eyes of the young dracon from his seat to study him.
"Lack of confidence, lack of wing strength, to much body weight, and talks way to much. Your eyes don't have the sight of a flier. You may want to fly with all your might but if I don't see it in your eyes then there is not even the smallest bit of hope. That being said if you wish to try and obtain the sight of a flier then I will happily take your money and do my best to teach you all I know. It will not be easy and we will start right away. 100 crowns in my hand means we go to my home and start now other wise you are infiltrating my personal bubble and I will not let you stay there much longer without some sort of consequence."
Suvia.
The bar tender handed over the water that he should have given the first time around. But the dracon ruined her chance of getting it with so much talking. It wasn't really the talking that bother the bar tender it more so the babbling and tripping over words. Either way she was back and was quiet...for the moment that was.
The bar tender was taken aback by the question but after given it some thought he was not all so surprised that a mermaid would ask such a question. Still he did not believe that mermaids were active in trying to become sirens.
Taking a deep breath the bar tender force his mouth open to speak to the mermaid. "The.....Academy.... has....singing....lesson." He said with pausing in between each word. He was worried if giving a mermaid the means to become a siren could prove to haunt him in the end. "Now go...leave this bar...I do not want you to come back here unless you are trying to charm me!" He yelled in a sudden wave of fear from the horrible thoughts that were running through his mind.

Runedas jumped back, startled. He did it. He was able to convince this tough looking dracon to teach him to fly. Trying as hard as he could not to let his happiness show, he reached rather quickly into his leather money pouch and handed 100 crowns to the awaiting dracon. It almost looked like Grilly was smiling at him as he handed over the crowns. "This is it.....I will do this. I have to do this. This dracon will teach me to fly, and I'll be able to live that dream once and for all." Figuring that he should not let any fear show in his eyes, he stared straight at Grilly and opened his mouth. "I am ready to start whenever you are sir."
The giant dracon gave a hardy laugh and stood up from the table. After a short stretch, Grilly yawned and headed towards the exit of the tavern. Runedas wondered about how he could walk out without paying the bill, but figured that he probably didn't have to. Runedas turned in the in the keeper's direction just in time to see him stretch a hand in the air as if to say goodbye.
"Training huh? Lot's of it I suppose. I cannot really wait to begin!" These were the thoughts passing through Runedas's head as he followed Grilly to his home. There had not been much talk between them, other than Grilly asking why he wanted to fly in the first place. Once Runedas explained it, the dracon gave no reply whatsoever. Shrugging it off he continued to follow, wondering just how far away he lived. Or even who, if anyone, he lived with. " This dosen't look like a very social dracon. Wife, kids, not even pets. Can't see any of that with this guy." Though judging people was not something he usually did, he couldn't help but find it weird for Grilly to have any of these things. As he was lost in thought, He didn't realize that they had arrived at their destination.
