Helping out, one brick at a time (Open)
His horses hooves cloped with each contact on the street, this day though was different from the last time he came. An era ago he saw a majestic city, now it was a rebuilding village. He made his way around a slow, brick laden cart, either going or coming from one fo the ruined areas of the city. It was a shame.
It took a bit longer to get to his house this time around but he finally made it there. Feeling in his pocket he felt his key, just to be sure it was there. Once in front he dismounted his horse and moved her around to the back, tieing her up to the tree before unsaddling her and carrying it back to the house, but he was stopped in his tracks. Across the yard from the house to a post was a line, and from it hung various articles of clothing from a blanket to women's undergarments. La'ranta had to have someone else in here.
He walked up to the backdoor and fished his key from his pocket as he set the saddle down. As he slid it in and unlocked it, it was already unlocked, highy strange. He opened the door and proceeded in the house and heard noises in the kitchen.
Rounding the corner he saw La'ranta standing in front of the table, tinkering with something. He looked up, the suprise on his face took and he jumped from his seat while drawing his dagger.
"You bes be gettin outta here stranger." he said grufly.
Rhys stepped fully into the kitchen "Naw, I think I have the say on who goes."
It took the big man to realize who exactly the stubble faced man was but he realized. He sheathed his dagger. "Well I'll be a sonuvabitch, if it ain't Rhys Telan."
"Aye it's me." said Rhys as he stepped forward and offered his hand.
"Naw boss." said La'ranta before hugging him. "It's been too long, hadn't gotten a letter back then the fires hit. It was horrible." he said as he let Rhys from the hug.
"I read about it and figured I should get up here and check things out and help if I can." Rhys said.
"Aweful good idea, the few guards left are overworked. We all gotta stick together to keep the criminals from takin advantage. Thats why I let Cosette stay here."
"and who might this Cosette be?" asked Rhys.
"She's a woman who lived near the keep, right now she's out helping with food and things. I'm meaning to leave here soon to help move debris." said La'ranta.
Rhys nodded "Ok then, do I gotta sleep on te couch then?" asked Rhys.
"Naw, me and her stay in the guest room." said La'ranta.
"Gotcha, I'm gonna get my things settled in" said Rhys nodding.
