Grilly The Flying Dracon (lv 2 Flying-Runedas)

Grilly walked in the street of Archadoon silently. He only stopped to flap his wings for the little ones and fly in circles for them. Toward young children he was kind and sweet. He always showed them a warm smile and happy eyes. But when it came to others he seem could hearted. This being so he was not always this way and this wasn't his true nature, it was just so much easier to be silent and seem unapproachable so as not to have the truly stupid one coming to him for help.

Grilly walked as if he was not being followed by someone who had just paid him money for teaching. He honestly did not seem to care. He didn't seem to care so much that he turned a corner and took to the skies. "Let’s see just how far along he is with flying." Grilly thought as he flew low enough for Runedas to follow if he fell from the skill.

When it took Runedas a moment to take to the sky, and the consent fallen, and landing hard upon the ground Grilly knew there was going to be much need adjustment. As soon as Runedas made it to Grilly's home it started.

"Rule number one, no flying until I say you can. Rule number two, no sweets of any kind. Rule number three, you will strengthen you body everyday for no less than five candlemarks a day. Rule number four you will not eat anything that I have not given you permission to eat. If you wish to fly you have to get your body in the perfect shape for you wings to support you for a long period of time. Now it is late we will begin on the next brightening. I expect you here bright and earlier."

With that Grilly turned and walked into his home, not really leaving room for questions. If Runedas did have any he would have to wait till the next time they met.

It was simply amazing to Runedas how quiet Grilly was. It was quite a long walk, and to add to the matter, this large dracon had not let two words escape his mouth. He stopped every now and then, as small children of various races wanted to see him fly around for a while. Grilly looked so happy, flying around and playing with the kids. It almost seemed like he was a completely different dracon. Runedas figured that it was probably easier to keep people off his back if he was just cold to everyone.

Pretty soon, Runedas found himself falling a little behind Grilly. It was like he was purposely speeding up. The smaller dracon tried to keep up, but he was much faster, almost like he was more in shape. Just as Runedas started to catch up, Grilly rounded a sharp corner and took off flying. He thought of it as some sort of challenge and even knowing that he would fail, Runedas stretched out his wings and started to flap them. He struggled to rise off of the ground and for a small moment, he managed to get himself in mid-air. The problem was, his wings quickly became tired and could not support his weight. There really was not other way to keep him airborne, so crashing onto the hard ground was the only thing Runedas could do.

Wings tired and sore, He slowly stood up and walked the rest of the way to Grilly’s home. As soon as he took the last step, Grilly started to speak.

“If I did have some kind of question, you certainly did not give me time to say so…” Was the only thought Runedas had as Grilly slammed the door in his face. He turned and looked up into the sky. It actually had gotten quite dark outside. He had no idea as he was concentrating on what would happen next. Walking away from Grilly’s house, Runedas continued to think about where to sleep tonight.

Bright and early the next morning, Runedas was standing at Grilly’s door. Today would be the day that he started to train those wings of his to fly. Anxious and a little nervous, He slowly raised a clawed hand to knock at the dracon’s door. With that, he took a step back and prepared himself for the long day ahead.

Runedas knocked for what seemed to be an eternity at the door of the dracon that had been paid to teach him how to fly. The way things seemed, this was going to be an exciting and very helpful thing for him. As he continued to knock at the door, his mind still raced at the thoughts of actually using his wings to carry him places.

It had been over a candlemark and there was still no reply from the dracon. Discouraged and slightly disappointed, the young dracon began to turn and walk away when the door finally opened. Once again, Runedas was in a great mood and ready to take on the training of the day. The only problem was that something seemed wrong. The older dracon just stood at the door with 100 crowns in his hand. With almost no motion at all, he reached out his hand and gave the money back to Runedas. He couldn't quite get a grasp on what was going on, but Grilly made it quite clear. " If you want to learn how to fly, carry yourself to Arakmat." That was the last thing that Grilly said to him, as he quickly closed the door afterwards. Dazed and confused, Runedas look at the money and counted it up. He never expected something like this to happen to him, but in fact it had. Taking what Grilly said, he turned and proceeded out of Archadoon, straight for his next destination.
