Ye Olde OOC of the Newe Arconis

A brand new start requires a brand new ooc thread! Arconis is once again open! I'd love to have any and everyone in here to play with - I know there are some of you out there who knew Arconis before, and that means you too!

However, those of you who knew Arconis before, be warned that it will be changing quite significantly in the next week or two - the aftermath of the giants' siege left the city in shambles, and I fully intend to roleplay it that way. (Think Rome in the Renaissance). Some features will be staying the same, but these will be very few, so I'll be overhauling all the locations and basically the whole city. Anybody who wants to help out, brainstorm, or just hang around is more than welcome.

The long and short of it is this: the students of the academies left because of the giant siege, and they never returned. Duke Serra-Kane, meanwhile, also died. This put Arconis in a financial crisis (as if the giants weren't taking care of that anyway!) and after the siege was over many more residents, and most of the teachers from the academies, fled without return. Arconis is now less than half the size it was previously, and will have the feel of a town or village more than a city. After that... of course, anything can happen. And who knows, maybe the academiae will rise from the ashes?

I would also like to expand the areas directly surrounding Arconis and the dwarves and giants who live there. I hope this will create completely new and exciting opportunities for rping in new cultural contexts. I'll say right off the bat that I'm no expert in either culture, so I would be glad of any help or critique particularly here.

I remember the end of the siege (I led a group of refugees to Daltina and called reinforcements to make the giants retreat in this thread).

Perhaps it's time for Theldor to visit his old friends and continue his ikos training...

The city is going to be massively changed; I'd like to do some overhauling, various poking around, and repostings of stuff before any rping can truly begin. But if you want to get in early, I'd be more than happy.

Oh yes, Mims is an amazing mod. She is one of a very small handful of mods that I would trust neigh-unconditionally with my PCs life.

Speaking on that matter: Mim, I'm considering trying to do an Archmage-rank re-acquisition thread. Originally I had Duncan doing it, but he kinda vanished.
