After he signed up for the tournament, Tev rode into the forest with his family. In a short time they came to a moderately wide spur leading off the path they were on. This in turn lead to a small clearing among the trees and undergrowth. This site suited Tev's purposes just fine.
He unharnessed the horses and stowed the tack.
Then he looked over the area and after finding a suitable spot outlined by four trees, Tev began to construct a lean-to. Using axe and saw on the fallen branches that he gathered, Tev soon had a structure erected near the carriage. The roof was made up of interwoven branches and broad leave. He was satisfied that it would be relatively water tight.
All that remained was to make a pallet for himself and Myfanwy, and then another for the girls.
Now they had a shelter where the family could relax in privacy.

OOC: hope you don't mind a visitor

Rhys had headed down the trail, the woods were a thing of great beauty. As he came into sight of the town he heard the noise of chopping wood and a horse neigh come from the right of him in the woods. He veered of the path and ventured into the woods, pushing branches from his path.

The noise got louder as he got closer and then he began to hear voices of people. He saw a clearing which the trees blocked most of his view of it, but he was able to make out a person or two and a rather large wheeled object. He then made it to the tree line of the clearing and took a few steps out, where he stopped. The people stopped and looked to him.

"Serale" he said, momentarily raising his hands in the air to show he meant nothing hostile to them "Sorry to disturb you, I was just a little curious to the noises I heard coming from this area."

Tev's next order of business was to find a suitable spot nearby their lean-to for archery practice. He chose a dead tree with a wide trunk. Using a knife, Tev removed the bark from the area that would serve as the target. After finding a clear line of 50 yards, he paced it off and marked the spot from which he would shoot.
He then picked some red berries and smeared them to form a small circle on the tree trunk.
With that done, he took position at the area he had marked and commenced his daily archery practice,

Upon hearing him, Tev turned to Rhys and returned the greeting, "Serale, welcome to our camp. I am Tev". He then pointed the woman and two small girls. "That is my wife, Myfanwy and our daughters, We hail from Narim and have come here for the archery contest as well as for a visit.
"We are setting up a place to stay while we we are visiting Arios. The noises you heard were me putting the finishing touches to my work. This spot gives us a degree of privacy, yet it is near town.
"Are you a resident of Arios?"

Gareth Gruven had been exploring the woods and collecting mushrooms and berries, placing each of them carefully in a small sack. His grandparents had taught him of the local roots and berries that were safetly edible, and he found that most of them were common and could be found nearly anywhere, as long as they were in a proper forest. He was nearly sure the Druids looked after the place.

As the platiunum silver-haired sprite fluttered down and collected a few mushrooms for supper, his ears perked forward at the sound of voices. Human voices. His face suddenly grew grave, at the thought of what the humans might be up to in the forest. He was well aware that most humans did not possess the care of the elves, or the feeling of preserving things like the dwarves. Tucking away the small half-fileld sack into a inner-pocket of his cloak, the green almond-like eyes scouted ahead to see if any mischief might occur.

He came upon two humans speaking to one another, along with a women and two other small girls. He smiled gently at them, then turned to the two males, hearing the last of Tev's statements. The Sprite's eyes gleamed merrily as he listened, knowing he had found a man skilled with a bow, or at least, was confident in himself to use it publicly. Gareth blushed on the inside, thinking of his pitifully small bow that accomodated his small stature and size.

Gliding out of the trees, he flew into the clearing and approached the two humans hesitantly. He was not fond of meeting strangers, espicially of a species that was known for their arrogance. "Excuse me good sir, but did you say you were enlisted in the tournament?" he spoke in a friendly voice, only speaking when the other man had stopped. A frightened expression came to his face rather quickly, and he swiftly piped up, "How rude of me to interrupt you, my curiosity must have gotten the better of me! I am Gareth Gruven...training to be a ranger...to an extant. And I was wondering if one of you happened to be one? I was simply searching for mushrooms and berries," he spoke quickly, pulling out the half-filled sack and showing them it's contents- "when I happened to hear your voices. I thought perhaps one of you could lend advice?"

"Well Tev, my name is Rhys." he gave a slight nod to Tev's wife and children "Narim eh?? Is it safe to assume that you are a Ranger, cause it sure looks as if you are one. Actually I hail from Olympia, I've come to see the tournement. I am also to train soon as an Olympian defender and maybe even an Elite. Well I say your coming along well. The outdoors is sometimes better than staying in an inn, plus it's cheaper." he said with a slight laugh.

Just then the sprite flew up to them, both men gave their attention as it spoke. "Good day Gareth" said Rhys. He looked in contents of the sprite's bag as he opened it. "Well sorry, I can't help you. I don't know much about plants."

Gareth smiled knowingly at Rhys, and spoke in his usual friendly manner, "Good day to you too Sir. Being a ranger is not particulary about plants, it is a bit more, involving the Arcanes, herbalism, tracking, and specifically, archery. At least to my standards," he added with a bit of a chuckle as he waved his hand through the air as he spoke. His leafy green wings fluttered slowly behind him, keeping him in one spot while in midair. He was glad he had met the two men, because he apparantly was not the only one who thought the stranger, Tev, to be a ranger. Grinning from ear to ear, he asked a small silent question to Rhys, "What's Olympia like?" The Sprite was naive, and young, hardly an adult among his folk. And yet here he was, asking about an island that he didn't know was an island, and wondering how far away it might be.

"Well it's beautiful and tranquil, especially some views of the ocean. Their are the troublemakers though, it is very exciting. IF you're wonderin, there are also some spirte's there too I've noticed, along with Sea Elfs. You'd find it interesting I would think." he said

"Would you mind if I camped out here with you? I have my own shelter." he asked. He was gonna sleep outside anyway, after he had goene through town for a while

When he heard Gareth's voice, Tev looked over at the Sprite. This seemed to be one of those times for unexpected visitors.
He replied, "Serale, I am Tev, with me is my wife, Myfanwy and our two daughters.. We hail from Narim. Both Myfanwy and I belong to the Narim Ranger Hall. We have both entered the tournament."
Tev looked in the half filled sack of mushrooms and berries that Gareth held open, "You seem to have found some tasty items".

"Myfanwy and I are both Rangers. I agree that the the outdoors are sometimes better than an inn, however there was no choice. There is no Inn here in Arios, so this is the only way for us to have a place to stay.
"You are certainly welcome to camp here. If you set up your shelter a bit behind ours, then you can have privacy yet we can be near each other."

"Thank you, don't worry, I don't snore too loud" he said with a laugh. "Well then it would've done me no good to try and find a place in town to stay since their is no inn. So what exactly does a person learn in order to become a ranger??"

The platinum haired Sprite beamed happily at Tev. "Oh really? I've also signed up to join the tournament...but I'm not counting on winning first place. Sal is still teaching me basic Archery, but I thought it would be nice to meet the people who would participate," he spoke in his usual friendly tone. "Me and a friend have plans of starting up a Hall for Rangers here in Arios, where Rangers can come and go as they please, that sort of thing. I kinda thought you might be one because of the fact that you're living outdoors...and you also are participating in the Archery tournament. I guess I just came to ask if you had any advice on the matter though..." the Sprite trailed off happily, keeping direct eye contact with the man.

Tev chuckled at the comment about snoring.
Then he replied to Rhys question, "In order to become a Ranger one must be dedicated to lead life committed to the preservation of both the flora and the fauna in the forest. That will usually lead to acceptance in a Ranger Hall.
"There are many things to learn. The primary weapon is the bow. Other skills include Herblore, Healing, Wilderness Survival, Stealth, Hunting, Tracking, Horsemanship and Unarmed Combat. The training will fully occupy your time for quite a while.

"Well, a Ranger Hall is a facility for the formal training of Rangers. However, having a place to stop over and perhaps meet with other Rangers would certainly be appreciated by any Ranger who was passing through."

Myfanwy was busy fixing up the girls Rhianna was happily chewing on her fist her cheeks rosy an indication of yet more teeth making their appearance. Tev was going to have to find something for her to gnaw on else she was going to find something a lot softer and much closer to sink her teeth into. Aerianna on the other had was tired and grumpy wanting nothing more than to sleep. The journey from Narim had not pleased her at all.

Just as she had Aerianna settled the sound of voices disturbed the little girl and she began to cry, big fat tears rolling down her face. With a sigh Myfanwy picked the little girl up placing her head against her shoulder and patting her softly on the back as she slowly walked around the encampment. After a few minutes Aerianna gave a little hiccup and a quiet sniffle and settled down to sleep on her mothers shoulder. The arrival of yet more visitors had her raising her brow as she turned to put the little girl down next to her sleeping sister.
