Sitting outside the Stopover Tavern... (Open)

[Fyrthulf]

The giant did his usual - sit outside the tavern. Occasionally he picked up a few crowns dropped by accident from some drunk exiting the tavern, but mostly he whished he could fit in there. He'd have to duck, but the bigger problem was that there was no entrance large enough. So he just sat outside, leaning up against the wood wall and watching people. He had fun sometimes, getting to beat up rowdy drunks who insulted him, but most of the time he just relaxed, and sated his self by comparing his stature to that of all the humans and lessers.

It had been a long brightening for the blind man of misfortune. He had bought his new metal guide stick earlier and had many plans for the rest of the brightening. Of course, as usual, they failed to come about. Instead, he retired to his parent's old house and drank away his memories, or atleast tried. It took alot to get him drunk, and through the liquor and tears, he soon realized he needed to shape up. The memory of his helpless parents being murdered by a gang of low-lifes, it would always haunt him. Alas, it would have to be something he would live with, deal with. After sobbering up sometime that afternoon, Remy put on his cloak, took his stick, and made his way out the door towards the Stopover Tavern.

It wasn't too long of a walk, and with a new sense of dedication to himself and a feeling of purpose, an unknown purpose, he walked with a certain demeanor. Not even using his stick for guidance, the blind man made his way to the tavern with ease, knowing good and well what was around him at all times thanks to the wind and noises around him. They painted quite the mental picture of a small town, of Arios. Arriving at the tavern, he stopped before entering, realizing at once that there was someone at the doorway. He could tell because he could hear them breathing. It was a deep, long breath, like that of something much larger than he.

"Bonjour stranger, why is it you sit on the outside of the bar?" he asked with a confident, but curious tone. Remy was always one to wonder, but rarely to not already know the answer to what he asked. He was funny like that, but it fueled his confidence.

The giant took one long deep breath, watching this strange human walk towards the tavern. He carried a stick, like a walking stick, and it looked to Fyrthulf that he was blind in the eyes. Most likely easy prey, he might have to take this out for cleaning later. He grinned to himself and almost chuckled before the human actually spoke to him. He was taken aback, and pondered for a few seconds. What did he want, this cripple?

"Heys! I always sit here! You got problem with that, human?"

He said human with clear derisive tones, and snorted. He grinned again and chuckled with a deep set and rumbling sound.

Remy smiled quite the smirk. This fellow wasn't in a good mood, that was for sure, but Remy wasn't one to mess with, especially after a day of drunken dreaming. He was sober, cranky, and very, very agile. Alcohol seems to do that to him, always has. "Well monsieur, I have no problem with that unless you are blocking the door, which you clearly aren't."

He walked into the doorway, but turned to the person before going in. "Master Giant, can I get you an ale?"

He furrowed his huge and bony brows and looked at the human closer. Was he blind? He wasn't so sure anymore... Maybe he was just playing tricks... Tricksky little people, always playing tricks. Well he would smash them all someday, teach them to play tricks. He had turned away from the human while thinking that, and he lifted his head, something between confusion and suspicion. That human better not have played another trick on him, stolen some shiny coins or something..

"No, I don't the block the door. I could.. but I don't..."

He frowned when the human asked if he could get him an ale. He was sure it was a trick now, but he wanted to see what kind of trick. If it wasn't nice, he would smash him later.

"Ok, if yous want. But I don't drink thems little cups! I need a big 'un, maybe a whole barrel!"

Remy smiled and nodded, walking into the tavern. He had no intention on buying an entire barrel, but a large stine he could do. He moved his way through the crowd with ease. The sound on the inside of a tavern was the best tool for his "sight." Any enormous amount of sound and motion was good for his senses because it really painted a picture for him. He could move about without having to concentrate at all, and that was always nice for him.

He moved up to the bar and asked the bartender..."Can I get an ale for myself and a giant size one for a friend outside?"

[Nathaniel Smythe]

It had been quite a long brightening indeed for Nathaniel Smythe as he had spent the hours of light looking for a job to no avail. His father had once told him, “If all else fails kid, have a drink”, it was advice that Nathaniel had taken on more than one occasion. One again Nathaniel found himself trufging towards the bar to chug away his sorrows and memories of life. Nathaniel was not a depressed person by any means but he, like any other man, loved his ale.

At the door to the tavern Nathaniel had noticed quite the bored looking giant. He had known a few giants in his time and figured the poor creature was stuck out here cause he could not fit inside so Nathaniel figured he would try and comfort the poor giant by buying him some drink. Epic approached the giant with a smile on his face and was about to extend his hand before realizing he could lose it in the shaking process.

“Um, you seem to be at a loss here Mr. Giant. Perhaps you would like me to run inside and bring you out a drink?”

Nathaniel had hoped that the giant not think him weird for offering some stranger drink, but Nathaniel was noticing himself rather short on friends these days and figured the bar was as good a place as any to start.

Remy watched as the bartender finished up the giant size mug. She was quite the lovely bartender, well, as far as Remy could tell. Althought he could more or less make out her face, tiny details weren't seen unless it rained, and since they were in a tavern, he couldn't really tell if she was as attractive as he thought. She offered the drinks for free and he accepted, thinking that perhaps she thought he was cute. "Merci." he said with a wink.

He headed back out to the giant. Almost out of the door, he noticed another man standing there, offering the giant a drink. "No need stranger," he said to the man, whom he could roughly tell was of good build. There was just enough noise and heat coming from inside the tavern to allow for that. "Here you are sir." He handed the giant his giant sized ale and took a sip of his own. The soft fluid ran down his throat and pleased his taste buds. "You know, if you want to join monsieur and I, feel free." He smiled to the stranger and took a seat on the ground, leaning his stick against the wall.

The giant watched as yet another (sigh) human approached him. What was this? Bad luck, Jorel musta been sneering his way today. Fyrthulf sighed deeply and looked over at this newcomer human with a strange glance, half expecting him to offer him an ale. Which was why Fyrthulf nearly did a double take when the human did... Did he just witness some sort of strange time warp? The giant was perplexed, very much so, and suddenly became irate. That human was playing tricks alright, real nasty ones! Playing with his head he was! Well he'd get his, right in the chopper, and that's for sure!

Which is why the giant pretty much bit his own tongue when the original human came out of the tavern with a couple drinks. This time he did do a double take, and looked back and forth between the two humans. What in Aeternia was going on... And then the original human handed him an ok sized mug, and sat down beside him. He furrowed his brows and looked something between stupid and suspicious. He drained the mug in one proper gulp and then returned to the humans. Such confusion these stupid little people made for him.

"Ok wells.. yous can sit all sit here if ya want. I dun care not much."

He rubbed his nose and scratched at his beard. In truth, he was pretty stinky, a mixture of stale ale, body odour, street dirt, and garbage.

Remy remained sitting, listening to the Giant and his non-caring attitude. He figured it was a false attitude, probably a mask for a confused or insecure mind. Either way, he honestly didn't care. This blind man had plans, plenty of them, and this giant would come in handy for sure, and perhaps this well fit other human as well. "Well monsieurs, I must ask...what are your vocations?" He was interested because he hoped they were of a low respect. If so, they would be easier to recruit.

"I, myself, am a blind man as you can see, and I have no vocation. My parents were brutally murdered not too long ago, and I must confess, the only thing on my mind sense that brightening has been revenge."

[Nathaniel Smythe]

Nathaniel smiled as he took up the blind mans offer, well, at least Nathaniel assumed the man was blind. From experience Nathaniel had learned that you cannot trust anyone, especially one who would claim to be blind. He had a feeling though that perhaps this man was not of malevolent intent, he did buy the giant an ale after all. Thieves were not apt to spend money to make money.

Smiling Nathaniel gave a nod to the blind man as he gave a rather short description of his history. It amazed Nate that a man such as he could seem to keep such bright spirits being “blind” and having just lost his parents. Many did not take the loss of any relatives very well much less felt the need to talk about it.

“Well, I am currently trying to find a way for me to make a few crowns. I have a home here in Arios and have grown up here most of my life, my parents though are not dead and have recently moved to Prime now that the gates are open again. Well, rumor says that they are open. I myself have no interest in leaving Arios any time soon. Where are my manners? I am sorry but I tend to ramble, the names Nathaniel Smythe.”

Epic took a seat on the ground figuring that he may be here a while.

“What about you Sir Giant? What’s your story?”

The giant didn't pay much heed to the humans as they bantered their wit. Using big words, like this vocashun. What did they know anyways, stupid little humans couldn't even pick up a quarter what he could. One of the poor sods was blind, and the other a wanderer. Psh, they didn't know the streets and they didn't have the strength to rule them. That's when one of them decided to involve him in the conversation. Well he sure would give them a real lesson in rulership.

"Sir is right, and that's what I am! Sir Fyrthulf! I rule these here streets, no one bothers me none, and I gets good pickings when I want! I even gots an orc making me a big hammer, and once I get me my hammer not no one will think abouts standing up to me!"

He beat his chest once with a meaty fist and looked intimidatingly at the humans. He knew how to look mean, and he sure did mean it. He wasn't about to give these humans a chance to make any more tricks happen, and he'd be ready for them if they did.
