Thanal Mansion
The small town of Arios was built around the Thanal Mansion, as one could expect. It was a building that stuck out from the rest of Arios like a Jagara in a crowd of black Dorins. Whereas almost every building in Arios was made of wood in a cabin style, with their roofs reflecting a warm, yellow, solar glow, the Thanal Mansion stood two stories tall, made of a cream-colored marble-like stone, with every bit as much elegance as a mainland thane's dwelling. The mansion also seemed to have a sort of calming blue glow, as opposed to a mere reflection of Telath's suns.
There are serene gardens outside the mansion, and every now and then a gardener, wielding druidic magic, would go through and straighten things up a bit. A small and simple fountain, with merely a collection of stone tiers water would constantly flow down. An engraved bronze plaque is at the base of the fountain facting outwards towards the village, stating in plain text:
This fountain is dedicated to the glory of Ioannes
May he forever look down on Arios with joy and bless it
Windows with black iron frames are regular on the walls of the house, and from the amount and from the length of the house one can identify about eight good-sized buildings on each floor, with the entire building being in a very aesthetically pleasant rectangular shape. Around the back, there is an extension to the mansion, with a room built in the center of the second floor, with a very small balcony (enough for three people to stand on, no more) extending outwards. A few columns the same color as the mansion hold the extension up.
The front doors are made of simple oak but are tastefully decorated with runes around their edges, possibly Ikosian runes, adding to both the practical and elegance of the doors. Two guards stand on either side of the doors, dressed in fine yellow dark red clothes tabards and pants. They will quietly usher in visitors, rarely using their halberds, which look ceremonial anyway.
One more guard, dressed like the others, stands inside and escorts visitors to visit the thane. Or rather, he did, when Arios had one. In these days, however, there was only a Guardian of Arios, who took his job very seriously.
On the escorted trip to the Guardian's office, one would notice a lack of guards. There is the occasional one dressed like the others, but like the island it heads, this mansion seems to be largely quiet.
The guard escorts visitors up some pleasant, carpeted stairs, and to the doors of the extension room visible from the back. The doors here are very plain, these not even decorated with Ikosian symbols. Gracefully the guard opens the doors and escorts visitors in.
The room is a mix of a traditional thane's and Aedile's. There are the decorative weapons, two guards on either side of the room, actually in the corners closest to the doors. Paperwork is in a few neat piles on a substantial teak desk. There is a rather young looking man at a desk, reading over some letters that he must have just received. He shows a furrowed brow, seemingly frustrated or upset. Hearing the doors open, he looks up at his visitor. He was a young Nimâlni elf, who would be about in his twenties if he was a human. It was odd that a young person would be in charge of a whole island... and also that a Nimâlni would run a foreign town. Of course, Arios wasn't known for its regular practices and shortage of oddities. The elf's eyes were bright blue, and his hair was of a darker blue, with an occasional tasteful dark green stripe. In a soft voice with a lisp, he offers a greeting, "Therale, what can I help you with?"
OOC: Hello. If you are looking for job opportunities, this is the place to come. Just ask what positions are available.
