The Dock House

Like the docks themselves, the dock house was made up completely of stone safe the door, that was made of steal. The stone here was like the stone on the docks, glossy and smooth, almost as if it wasn’t stone at all. Upon touch it didn’t feel like stone, rather glass. If someone had the brass to test the stones they would see that it didn’t break like grass, but held firm not cracking at all.

It was thought that the docks and building were made of stone to prevent corrosion and rot. Or simply in order to stand a monsoon or other natural disasters that being so close to the docks would involve. Whatever the reason, the building did stand the test of time, it lasted longer than the memory of any of those living on the island.

Above the door was a small wooden sign that was always swinging back and fourth the in sea winds. It was written in simple letters ‘dock house’ as though it were going the pass for anything else. It sat alone, seemingly empty.

The Iron door looked heavy and rough, in truth it was only rough. It opened with the slightest push and turn on the handle. The door opens and swings against the back wall smashing into it. Despite the amount of times that such an occurrence must have happened the stone wall showed no sign of ware. It looked brand new and polished despite the abuse from the iron door.

The young elf however is clearly irritated by the sound and no matter how many times it has happened in the past. She jumps from sitting behind the desk and looks at the door. She looks panicked, every time. It wasn’t often that one came to the dock house, there was little need to. Most people were content with simply walking to the town. Though there were always the ones that stood out and came to the dock house for whatever reason.

“Serale, my name is Ti’ana welcome to the dock house. Is there anything that I can help you with?” she asked sweetly after the few seconds it took to regain her composure.

Time StampPontius, in the Season of Winter, Era I of the Celestine Mandate, Era XV Post Fractum

"Serale, my name is Reinus and I would like to inquire whether or not there are any jobs available." He thought for a while, thinking of what he might say next.

"Oh, and where might I find my hovel." Reinus showed the address (not sure where that is) and waited for the other to answer.

[Caffeine]

Ti'ana looked at Reinus with interest. She greeted him and then thought for a while.

"Well, there should be some available in town. What kind of a job were you thinking of? Do you have any skills?" she asked, taking the note with the address on his hand and looking at it.

"This is in town, not far from the center of it actually. I'll draw you a quick map." she smiled at him and took a pen from the desk, beginning to draw at the back of the paper.

"Nope, no skills at all!" It was quite easy to remember when one was skill less. The same applied to Reinus, though, he was happier than any normal person. He felt that it was cool, that for once, he was able to remember something so important as skills. If he had any. "I remember this sentence...what was it...oh, I'm willing to learn if necessary."

For the hovel, he took one look at the map and was confused. "Um...okay..."

[Caffeine]

The girl looked at him, thinking that there was most likely not that many people in the town who would hire a slow person. That was what Reinus seemed like, at least.

"Hmm...you might want to go and ask for work from the Government Building. There might be something for you there and they might know if someone else had something in the town. I don't really know if there is something for people with..no skills, available, only some things for skilled folks. But as I said, at the Government Building they might know." She pointed at the Government Building she had added to the map for him.

"You see, if you go out of here and take the road through the forest from the docks" she gestured with her hand to north, "you'll end up in town. The government building is one of the two large buildings in the town. It's the one in right side, the Arios Centre is the one in the lefthand side." she illustrated her words with gesturing with her hands, slowly, so he might actually get it.

"Now for your house, it is in here," she tapped her finger at the map again, "it's right around the corner from this place, the Wild River Outdoor Supplies, you can't miss that one because there is always a katta and a ratta out on the deck, they play checkers." she smiled at the thought.

"If you ask them where your house is, they'll tell you. I just hope you find the city..." she said with clear concern in her tone.

"Okay! I'll ask them anyways. It's worth a shot, don't you think?" The elf smiled and told himself that he must go to the government building at all costs. A job was necessary if he was to survive on his own on the island of Arios.

The explanation to get to the government building was confusing at best for the elf. It came in the left ear and flowed out the to the right. Fortunately, despite his bad memory, the elf certainly had good luck in finding locations. It was by pure luck that he managed to reach the docks.

"Wild River Outdoor supplies with the katta!" He nodded and gave the girl a thumbs up. "Thanks for all your help miss! I'll go my way now!
