An inn on the island of sleeplessness
The Inn wasn’t a large building but it had it’s business. Often times visitors would rent a room out of habit for the need to sleep but this would prove to be quite useless here. Instead the rooms were more often used for visitors to keep their belongings in and sleep on the one brightening that the priests came around. It was also a place for privacy which was something a lot of the town lacked for always having their door open unless it was raining heavily.
The doors had locks on them and each patron was given a key by the desk clerk who was an older larger man named Gary. He owned the business and had been quite disappointed this far with it. It was obvious that he was not a native Ariosan as he was sometimes grumpy and confused especially right before the Brightening of sleep. He was never snappy at his guests but he would sometime shoo them away to their rooms or answer obvious questions with a simple ‘I don’t know’. At night he was the same way, he didn’t celebrate with the others, instead he stayed at the desk waiting for people to check in. His greeting on average was simple “Serale, names Gary. How can I help you?”
The rooms were on the second floor of the building and were decent in size. They all contained one bed, a closet, a chest, and windows that were lockable. There was a dresser on the side of the room that had a window. The windows were bright and even with the curtain down during the day it would be extremely bright in the rooms. Luckily for those who were getting wary of the light and wanted to sit in the dark for whatever reason, be it race or just confusion, they could easily move the light dresser in front of the window. There is also a bedside table that has a candle on it with spare candles in the drawer on it.
It isn’t the room that the Inn gets most of it’s business from, rather it’s restaurant. In the morning it is often very busy after people have spent the brightening parting and celebrating they didn’t feel like cooking. The Sleepless Inn offered breakfast from a decent price and the food was considered excellent. Their chief was rarely seen except at night but was a very diligent and experienced cook.
The waitress, and daughter of the plump man that owned the owned the business was neither stunning nor necessarily beautiful. She was however the reason that Gary had come to Arios for she had a disease that made her fall asleep at random intervals no matter what she was doing. Here on Arios though she didn’t and it made her very happy. She finally felt normal here and so she was cheerful but still shy.
There was no guarantee that one would be able to get a seat in the restaurant, that is unless you were renting a room. Gary had a section that he blocked off for his customers upstairs and the rest had to wait…and they did wait most of the time. The breakfast was included with the price of the room
During lunch and supper it was less crowded but was still busy enough to keep everybody working there busy. When Gary was away (to the temple of Kaimelea (for his mental problems) his daughter doubled as a greeter and waitress.
