Arising Opportunity [Viskyia-Ferry Dock-Fire Island Jewelry Store]
TS: First cycle of Pontius
Winter, XV
Morning
Jasmyn was on her way by ferry to Demios. She stood at the front, clutching the railing tightly with her hands as her long white hair was blown by the wind, trailing behind her and resembling the hastening waves of the sea. This was all to exciting for her. The Esh’lahier Elf had read in the Herald that there was a new Botanical Spa Resort in Demios that was looking for help. She only had basic training in massage but still she thought that it was worth a try. What else could go wrong in her life? She’s already lost her parents and her mentor.
Once the ferry docked she was quickly in line and ready to get off with her satchel pressed to her stomach, her lithesome arms wrapped around it. In truth she wanted to get this over and done with. She just couldn’t stand the thought of rejection and with each passing moment her stomach was becoming more and more nervous. But no! She just had to be brave! Surely there was something more that she was meant to do. There just ‘had’ to be something better on her horizon.
After breaking free from the crowd Jas made her way up the dock and to a set of guards that were clearly blocking the way so that they could check for Imperial Visa’s. One was male and the other female. They looked friendly enough but that didn’t stop the Esh Elf from fumbling anxiously through her bag. As soon as it was her turn she flashed them the Visa and then with a friendly smile. Of course she didn’t look harmful and so they allowed her to pass rather quickly.
A sigh of relief passed through her full lips as she sauntered forward with a purpose. Now she had to find where she was supposed to go to turn in her job application. Dawn was still blooming and so she had a full day of looking around and asking questions ahead of her. She walked and she walked. The first thing that really captured her light green eye was a jewelry shop. Now this looked interesting enough. Jasmyn entered in through the door, after passing over a small porch. Immediately her gaze searched. She had her reasons to be interested in gems.

Viskyia was at work early. There was that pesky project, searching for thirteen perfect emeralds. She'd written practically every supplier she knew in the realm and emeralds were pouring in. Some she kept, some she sent back, and so far she had eight assembled that would do the trick. Eight was a far cry from thirteen though. If her masterwork was to actually be fulfilling, she had to have thirteen or the necklace and earrings wouldn't be the same. So it was that she'd just opened the shop, but wasn't in the workroom yet. She was standing at the counter opening small packages sent to her via the post, looking through what her other fellow jewelcrafters had sent to her in hopes of getting her the matching stones. When the Esh' walked through the door, Viskyia looked up, smiled and said "Serale, its a beautiful morning isn't it?" She asked, noting the woman, her cut of clothing, and the bag that was with her.
There was something entirely familiar about the woman, though Viskyia couldn't exactly place it. She studied the lovely young elf and started moving the opened wooden post packages off the counter and towards the refuse bin that would go into the forge to burn. The remainder of the stones she stored in a tray and slipped them back into the vault for later examination. Again, she wondered why the Esh was out and about so early, and then she realized the first ferry of the day had already landed. Ahhh....
"Just off the ferry? I'm Viskyia. What can I help you with?" She asked, a friendly smile curving her lips.

She smiled lightly. "I am wondering...." The Esh stopped in her tracks. Her brows furrowed slightly. What luck she had! It was this female that she was searching for. Politely she reached out her hand in order to offer a greeting by way of a handshake. "How do you do Viskyia? I am Jasmyn Jewel. Yes I've just arrived by ferry. I came to Demios to apply for a job at your new Botanical Spa. I saw your ad in the Herald."
If there ever was a time to be charming this was it. Jas was here for a job and had to be on her best behavior. She had to appear business-like but at the same time friendly. Coming from the background that she has she knows how to talk to people. Indeed she wasn't one of those rich snobs that only knew how to give orders. Rather she was a female that was very street wise and even though she seemed so young she had seen and experienced many things.

Viskyia smiled, and nodded. She rose to shake the woman's hand and appeared pleased to meet her. "Oh, so you did see the ad. Thats great. What sort of position were you interested in? I think we have just about everything open." Viskyia couldn't hazard a guess as to which job the woman would indeed like. "I'm really looking for a group of people that can work well together and make the resort a treat for anyone to visit. It's basically an enormous greenhouse, filled with birds and wild creatures, where people can enjoy the illusion of dining in a tropical jungle even in the winter. There's a pool out back, and cabanas to rent. Its going to be a vacation destination, for certain. Hopefully its something your interested in if you've come all this way.... where did you come from by the way?" Viskyia was always curious as to where people came from, what caused them to travel around, why they did what they did. Jasmyn looked like she came from the Forest of Light, but that didn't necessarily hold true. Other places held Esh communities, and she could very well be from one of the more local spots.
"Would you like some tea? Have a seat...." Sure it was a jewelery store, but indeed all the niceties were there too. A comfortable couch, table, and tea set rested beneath an enormous chandelier filled with mystical creatures. Viskyia had made the Chandelier and it tear dropped with precious stones that glittered across the jewelery store.

Jas smiled all through Viskyia's description of the spa and then even more so when she offered her a seat. Without a doubt in her mind she knew what she wanted to do at the paradise get-a-way. More then anything she wanted to do massage, whether it was for therapy or just for relaxation. Of course the Esh'lahier Elf sat and then nodded. The other female seemed to be rather excited about the new business venture; Jas couldn't get a word in edge wise. It was a good thing though, to be that enthused about something new in ones life and so the Esh didn't mind. Her energy was rather infectious.
"Tea would be nice thank you." Jas sat and then folded her hands in front of her, on the table of course. She continued. Surely Viskyia wanted to know all about her. "Well... I'd like to do massage. I've had basic massage taught to me by my late mentor but I'd be willing to take even more classes to further my education and ability. As a matter of fact that's really what I want to do, along with learning healing and herbalism."
The Esh swallowed hard. She was a 'little' nervous since this was the first job interview that she's ever been on. Her eyes wavered up toward the chandelier. It was simply exquisite and she'd tell Viskyia so but first things were first, she wanted this job more than anything. Her light sparkling green eyes matched Visk's. "I am from the Eastern part of the Empire."

Viskyia nodded. "That'd be wonderful. If you are willing to work while going to classes too, I don't see why the resort couldn't foot your educational expenses too. I think we can even offer a room for you to live there if you'd like. I was just talking to Drik about that very topic today, and he was suggesting adding in some small rooms to lease out or for servants if we had additional funds available to do so." She added, looking thoughtful. "So, tell me more about yourself. Where did you learn massage? I'd also be curious to know what sort of salary and hours you'd like to work?" Viskyia asked, leaning back and gesturing for the server passing by to bring some tea back with her when she had a chance.

Jas wiggled to the edge of her chair. The excitement for such an opportunity was beginning to take over her small frame. This was much more than she ever thought would happen to her. It was hard to keep positive once her parents and mentor were gone. But here she was... reaping her rewards for willing herself to remain focused on her dreams rather then the sadness that weighed heavily in her heart.
The female smiled broadened. She didn't want to appear to overly enthusiastic or surprised that she was finally being blessed but she just couldn't help it. "Really? You'd do that for me? This is more then I could have dreamed of. Thank you so much!" Her heart was racing as she continued. "I learned massage from my mentor. He took me in after my parents were killed. I’d appreciate a place to stay until I can get on my feet and as far as salary goes. I'm not really sure. You seem to be honest. What do you think?" Jas didn't want to seem too naive but it was what it was, she had never before applied for a job nor negotiated salary.
