Saka an mage in training plus the Prefect of Demios just stood there watching the waves along the beach. He was wearing his dragon coat and hat along with his red and black shirt and pants. The dragon coat he called was an black silk like coat that held a dragon on the back, it was silver holding an dragon's egg with its wings outward flying upward as you saw its stomach. The same design was on his hat just silver and gold.

He always wanted an dragon truth be told if he could he would become one for good but that was not his sphere of arcane and he doubt his Master would let him pick more then one and a different one due to his Master was the same sphere. Made it easier to train Saka guessed.

He needed to learn more of the arcana but for now he was just a person on the beach watching the sun wake the island. The fresh sea air filled his lungs as he breathed it all in.

A lone fellow on the beach. Now that was interesting. Having enjoyed a relatively peaceful vacation on the Fire Island of Demios, Stray was just gallivanting along. Where? Exactly four hundred feet or so above Saka to be exact. The ruffle of feathers against his long jacket-vest-poet shirt combination was something of an amusement for the young Thane. Then again, he was young. He had his whole life to live out, etc.

A griffin was not entirely easy to find, let alone tame and then train to be a mount. Luckily, Stray didn't have to bother with such time consuming work. Instead, he focused his energies on elevating his position in politics while grasping the very process that made mortals supernatural. It was Arcana, something of a gift from the gods as far as Straylor was concerned. He was gem blooded, which made things even more fascinating and considerably less complicated. So now, more than an era later, he was a Journeyman in Druidism. At home, he had the makings of a Stave and before Spring ended he would have perpetual Clara.

But that brightening, Stray was a tourist. Though a handsome one at that. He allowed his mount, its will bound and tethered to his, to soar, glide, and occasionally dip and swoop above and over the Bay. It was a beautifully crisp Winters brightening. The cold air was much more numbing in the sky, and Stray had to narrow his eyes to prevent airborne particles from blinding him. With a single thought, he commanded the griffin to land some fifty or so paces from the lone visitor on the beach.

The griffon screeched something, tucked in its great wings, and dove only to expand its powerful feathered limbs to force its dive into a gentle glide. It was all magic, but all natural at the same time. That was the beauty of Druidism. And this was Straylor's contribution to the world around him. He patted the majestic creature, feeling its down feathers and powerful muscles beneath his fragile flesh. It didn't take much to destroy his creation, though. When the spell was damaged, his griffin would be no more, mere Essence to dissipate back to the Plane of Nature.

But this brightening, he felt more alive. And with a grin, he commanded the creature to hop back into the skies and live out the rest of its duration air-bound. "Go" he said to the conjured being "be free. Even for a little while."

Saka saw the shadows first before he saw the male and the mount part. It was a odd sight but then again living in Demios one say many odd things if they just took the time to listen to the winds.

Saka being the kind person he was slowly walked to the male figure, male due to the movements they took and body build along with the scent in the air. "Very see an mount like that, I heard flying mounts were some of the hardest to tame." Saka said as he came into just a few paces of the guest.

"My name is Saka, Nice to meet you, few ever really come to the beach so early but I find it most peaceful and later on my life will be filled with work." He said just talking really as if he knew the person for eras.

Bits of sand and water rose along with the griffon's wings. It flapped once, twice, and was airborne once again. Straylor never suspected the lone figure to speak with him -- but here he was. The Thane inclined his head for an instant then watched the stranger approach him through his dark eyes. "Well met, Saka" he replied "I am Felix, a pleasure." He smiled. There were plenty of strange characters on the isle ... but this was perhaps the first time Straylor met a man who freely gave away his identity and assumed that the other would respond in kind.

Fortunately for Saka, Straylor was not a cuthroat. "I quite enjoy the scenery and solace of the ocean as well" was all Stray could note on the subject. By now, he was already seated on the sand, his back resting against his arms. He glanced at the man and smirked. "What brings you here this brightening? You seem like ... the serious type, non?" Straylor's smile brightened, a grin. "What do you do as a profession, if you don't mind me asking? I confess that I suspect some government position ... it suits you. Am I right?" He chuckled lightly then shook his head playfully. He was probably wrong.

Being an Prefect of the island he knew the names of the people due to the long lists that the guards gave him on his office but maybe he was new as he did not get the new list yet.

"I can be the serious type or non-serious type all depends on what I have to do." He said as he watched the sea, slowly being pulled in and pushed outward as if had no cares what so ever. "I am the Prefect of Demios." He said after a bit, the fresh air just felt so nice. Demios was the ideal place to be an mage in his eyes no matter what sphere one had.

"And you Sir Felix? What brings you to Demios and your job?" He asked as Saka took note of Felix's scent for later use. His scent of smell was rather good even for an elf, he would remember that scent and pick it up later in close areas.

Straylor grinned. Interesting fellow he admitted though without his own doubts. As a soldier turned politician, Stray has had his own share of disappointments. He has allies and enemies just like anyone else. But those problems grew exponentially more complicated when you were a public figure, easy to find, and those connected to you even easier to target. But when Saka introduced himself as the Prefect, Straylor nodded thoughtfully. The job fit him. "Well met, Your Grace" he inclined his head and maintained his smile.

"Sir?" Stray chuckled "I am no knight, but I came to Demios just to relax" he said "and as for my profession, well you could say that I am a mage." His smile blossomed into a grin again. Should he tell him that he was Thane? Naw, that would be overkill. He missed those brightenings when people treated him as just another man and never tipped him with titles. "I am, however, interested in the academy here in Demios" Stray added "are you by any chance familiar with the mages here? I seek an Elementalist in particular ..."

Saka's eyes did not change as he told him what he was, just smiled as it was always good to see another mage. Mage's somehow knew each other on some level Saka guessed it was due to being unbound and being free in there sphere of choice.

He shut his eyes as if thinking but he really was not, he knew the answers he was asked but he was still showing he was thinking hard on something. Yes he was going to show off but actions were so much louder then words and besides Saka was a very trusting person.

He was slowly going into his Clara state but as he was still new to this it took him awhile. Ten minutes really but he hoped he would not be to rude and hoped Felix would understand afterwards. As Felix was a mage he was sure he would be able to tell the small signs one took when they reached for clara.


It felt peaceful almost as he opened his eyes looking at Felix, he did not say anything but smile as water quickly formed between them turning and molding into a small dragon. This was his water dragon spell, a small but rather pretty dragon of pure clear water. The long body slowly warping around Saka's arm, its wings folding looking at Felix.

Not even a second later after tilting his head it jumped from Saka's arm flying around the new guest that Saka smiled at. The spell was meant for combat but at Saka's skill it was a rather poor choice for a combat weapon.

"Sorry that it took so long and please do not call me Grace, I hate it when people use titles. And yes I do know the school well I use to go there before I left seeing as I hate normal schools. As for a Elementalist I think I can help you there." He smiled before the dragon slammed into the ground with its tail, the water faded into nothing as a small dent was left behind.

"Sadly I might not be much help as I am still a student but I am sorry for making you wait such a long time, I don't mean to be rude really."

Straylor paused for a moment, then quirked an eyebrow. Was the elf dense? And then he saw it: any mage would have caught the tensing features, the sudden stiffness. Stray found it hard to suppress a grin. The elf was a mage, whether or not he was one of any renown was yet to be discovered. So Straylor waited. The Prefect of Demios was slowly unfurling his mind's hands, crawling toward the spring of his power, the source of his magic.

As an initiate, Saka found this process extremely challenging. Plus he was standing, which added to his general discomfort. There was no soothing smells, no relaxing atmosphere ... he was at the bach for gods sake and the crashing of each tide and the tickle of the salty air made it nearly impossible for the young elementalist to find his focus.

Almost.

Near seven minutes passed, but Stray kept his gaze fixed on the elf lord. By now, Straylor himself had slipped into Clara himself and was watching Saka's vis ripple like a thousand stars with his mind's eyes. Stray also discovered that the Prefect was not a powerful mage, an initiate more or less, maybe an experience one ... but not the master he was seeking. Then, quite abruptly, Saka began to focus and channel using his inherent talents in Arcana. Thank Phedos for that, Straylor thought with an inward chuckle. The elves were blessed with that skill, and much more. It was almost unfair.

Again, almost.

Then half a minute later, water essence poured forth and was altered to form a miniature dragon shape. Straylor finally grinned and inclined his head. "I see" was all he said "looks like the Elementalist found me." He chuckled then and added "well met, Saka. I have suddenly no interest in the academy. Are you by any chance looking for some allies? As a mage, I found it quite advantageous to seek our fellow wizards to both learn and benefit from one another. Sensing that you are still an aspiring mage, I may be of some assistance to you" Straylor's smile widened "and in return, well, I only ask the same. Interested?"

After his spell was cast he felt his own energy leave him, as he was still new he could only cast 3 spells per brightening before he had to rest and each spell took alot out of him even if he never told his friends who were not mages.

After a few seconds of deep breathing he looked at the young man, his eyes alone were brightly as if his smile was there and not on his face. "We agree on that then, as I to like to seek out mages and seek there aid and help. You Sir Felix have my aid even if I can not do not yet."

He would not talk about his Master just yet, he might trust the person but that was something no one knew about on the island that he found a teacher and father almost. No he would keep that to himself for awhile yet until he knew more about this man.

"So What sphere?" it was such a odd question yet any mage knew what he was meaning and what it meant, a sphere was there life as a mage. What powers they seek-ed to understand and form an art that took there lives and dreams.

His ruby necklace quietly shining as the light from the sun beating down upon them, it was not a hot nor bright brightening but it never was to Saka here. The weather was odd yet at the same time fun to see what the winds would bring upon the dragon islands.

Straylor grinned. "Excellent" he said before extending his hand. Saka's query about Straylor's sphere was not needed, however, since Stray immediately produced a tiny sphere of fireflies which levitated from his left shoulder. It swarmed and sparkled like a group of stars against the fading suns set to the west. "I am a druid" Stray revealed, which was as good a secret as many. Most mages kept these details a secret; but what good were allies who weren't true?

"For now, I suggest that you further your training" Straylor continued in kind tones. He was once an Initiate after all. He was fortunate enough to find the Copse where he was granted guidance and other support during his less experienced brightenings. "Should you ever need assistance, Saka" he added after a moment "find me in Trysvale. Just a ferry ride away" he grinned.

Then from the folds of his long jacket, Straylor produced a yellow sphere -- one of a couple that he brought for himself to Demios. "For you" he said "this contains a single casting of Summon Griffin. It will produce a transplanar manifestation of a winged lion-eagle for you to command as you see fit. It will obey your mental commands without question and you should find it quite useful. To activate the spell, simply smash the globe to the ground."

His skin felt warmer then his own, but most people's skin did feel a bit warmer or maybe he was just always cold. His skin was smooth he noted. Pen more then the blade.

The gift took him back, it was a grand gift then anything he could give other then crowns but he had a feeling Felix did not need any crowns from the way he acted.

"I am shocked, I dare say I don't have a gift that I could offer you as of now other then crowns but something tells me you would not take them." He said as he took the orb looking at it. He knew later in his studies that he would be able to see if any item had any spells on them but as of now he could not.

"How long will the spell last? I would hate to fall after it fades and I am in midair or in a fight trying to stay alive."

Straylor chuckled well-heartedly. "I've added my own precautions" he grinned "the complex divined weaves imbedded within the spell that allows you to communicate with the summoned griffon will also warn you should the spell begin to wane. So worry not. It should last for a few candlemarks at most ... but if the weave was to be damaged" he continued "then you should beware. I wouldn't advise riding into battle with a summoned griffon for a mount. The weave is enormous, yes, but it is still delicate. If damaged, it could unweave quite abruptly leaving you flailing earth-ward."

At the mention of pay back Stray raised his hand "you are correct in that assumption" he chuckled lightly "this is a symbol of our new friendship, our alliance. I am one who seeks to assist aspiring mages to reach new heights since the establishment designed to do that has become elitist and oppressive." He was obviously talking about the Imperial City's Academy of Arcana. Stray couldn't think of a better example of pompous magi acting like nobility. "Those with gem blood should be allowed to prosper as much as any rich fool who can do magick tricks. And I am willing to help in any manner I can." He smiled and then waited for Saka's response.

In the meantime, Straylor allowed himself to disperse the fireflies within the globe about him, freeing the magical insects in the Material Realm for a moment. And idly he wondered if the summoned creatures he's conjured so freely remembered him or any of their experiences outside the Plane of Nature.

Saka looked a bit shy as Felix talked about the weave and such but was shocked to hear the time he had, more then what he would had guessed. His studies did not go over terms and words yet, that was for later he was told.

"Sorry to ask but my studies never did told me that, but what is an Weave?" He asked as he looked at him, his voice held no sign of being shy about not knowing different terms that he used.
