Chesley is the name of a
feudocratic fiefdom prominent in the middle to late
Second Empire then situated in modern-day Eastern
Arium province and Western
Carmelyn province. Founded by a minor, unaccomplished and previously obscure noble named
Baxter Iracor, the House of Chesley quickly gained the favor of Queen
Charisma and earned a
charter to ascend as a
Duchy. Later, Duke Baxter would co-opt the
Church of the Faith and become its
Archprelate under the name
Maximilian in a bid to gain parity with the Crown. When Empress
Fire later interceded to prevent Baxter from using the Church to place himself above the rule of law, a great rebellion broke out resulting in the destruction of House Chesley, the death of Baxter, and the obliteration of its capital metropolis,
Aslangrad.
