Baker's Kelp

Not really kelp-like at all, this fleshy red algae is a type of seaweed that grows in vast tracts around the tropical regions, and is a favorite food of fish. Thankfully it grows extremely rapidly. If collected, pulped and strained, it can be rendered down into almost pure sugar. The kelp can also be pressed before it is rendered for sugar, enabling a rich red dye to be extracted.
