Bull Kelp

Mention kelp and this is what probably springs to mind. Elongate green coils, writhing in the surf on the rocky shore. While not particularly useful in any way, this type of seaweed and other varieties of floating kelps are often avoided due to the numerous stories of people being snatched from the rocks and drowned by the kelp come to life. Most of these stories can be traced back to Nereid’s or kelpies who frequently make such kelp forests their home.
