Mid-Summer
The deal had finally been brokered. Handshakes had been made, signatures scrawled and preparations drafted. Now shovel was meeting earth, saws meeting wood, and hammers their counterpart the nail. Construction had begun.
No more than a month or so after the Senior Aedile had met with the guild leaders, those whom could take his goals and initiative from immaterial thoughts to physical reality, it was happening. Architectural drawings, budget reports, and piles of paperwork regarding the monolithic building project had found their way to his desk, and had received the final signatures.
The city governments' grand ambitions to mold the city as clay into something better than it was in the current, were being realized.
The city officials had seen the dire need for health care in Imperia. For the last months the only place where Imperian citizens could be tended to by healers was a tiny and obscure hospital ward run by the "Imperia Suns" and that certainly only went so far. It would be different though. Top on the Aedile's list of priorities was a hospital- a state of the art institution- to serve Imperians. Additionally it would house what hopefully would become a renowned school of medicine so that the city and perhaps the province would never fall into need again for healers. Nearly half a dozen health clinics would follow that project as well.
It was also well understood that ignorance only bred ignorance. To break the cycle of poverty the Thane and the Aedile had envisioned a library for the city, scholas, and even a collegio. This would become a physical reality as well in the near future.
All over the city of Imperia there were numerous building sites taking shape. And attending to them were hundreds of tradespeople, and laborers. The vast majority of which were Imperians putting their skills to good uses. All the tools and material that were required to see these plans become reality were supplied to the full, however closely monitored by the proper authorities. The city wished for the construction to be carried out at a steady and efficient pace, however corruption would not be tolerated.
Additionally a specific office in the city was planned to take up in one of vacant buildings in the very near future. The Department of Building & Construction would oversee all these efforts and attempt to seamlessly work with the Guilds and other important city officials to staff and outfit these institutions once constructed. Additionally in the future it would be used as a center for providing employment and apprenticeships to those seeking them in the building industry- which would no doubt be growing in Imperia with further initiatives.
