The Battered Shield Inn
Just a single block away from the Westgate Arena itself, the Battered Shield Inn is the premier location for those travelers who come to Imperia to see the arena matches. Ran by Grubaur "Ironsides" Urg'hashn, a once prominent arena champion himself, the Battered Shield Inn has two stories and a total of 12 rooms. The exterior of the building is in decent shape with the exception of chipped paint and a set of creaky wooden stairs leading to the front door. For some reason when the building was initially constructed the architects choose to put the door not on the first floor, but on the second. Seeing this as having "character" Grubaur decided to leave the stairs as is, meaning one has to walk from the street, up the stairs to the second level to enter the building. Other then this curious design flaw, the exterior is average for an inn within the city.
When one enters the building a small counter greets them behind which stands Grubaur himself. The Orc is both rather old and battered, much like the name of the place. You can see many signs of past battles that left their mark on him. Grubaur is polite and hospitable (at least, as far as an Orc can be) and can tell you all about the arena and its history, being somewhat of an expert on the place. On the counter from where he conducts his business lays a simple wooden and rounded shield (that looks like it may fall apart any second with holes and scratches on it) encased in glass. For any person foolish enough to ask for the story of the name of the Inn or the shield in the case, Grubaur launches into the (mostly fanciful) story of how the shield, despite all odds, saved his life during his darkest moment. As anyone who has made the mistake can attest, asking such questions will surely leave you tired and bored enough to want to make use of your bed immediately.
Rooms at this inn range from 10 crowns to 20, but all are of good shape and very clean. Six on the second floor, and six more room below on the first floor. Inside each locked room one would find a large bed, dresser, and desk. Rugs lay gently on the hardwood floors and all windows have drapes as white as snow. The walls have noticeably been insulated, for no sound can get into the rooms itself. The rooms are large enough that the windows they have do not provide light to all the room despite the rarest and sunniest days of the city. The morning meal is provided with the room, however Grubaur is the one who cooks it and those that haven't had true orcish cusine may wish to opt out.
OOC: Self moderation is permitted with the exception of the story of the shield.
