Secrets :
Peer Moderation
In Aelyria, stories are told by moderators who design and maintain the game world, and by players whose characters are the major figures in those stories. The moderator-player dynamic is the central covenant in how the game rules of risk and reward, challenge and opportunity are shaped and enforced. Trusted players who have mastered game rules can peer moderate in Aelyria.
Requirements
Peer Moderators (or "peermods") must receive pre-approval from the local game master before moderating a thread. For example, if a thread is being moderated in the wilderness, then one of the provincial game masters should authorize that thread before it is moderated by a storyteller. All requests for approval should be done using the following template:
Peer Moderation Permission to be PM'd to Dignitas:
1. Overview of Thread(s), Location(s), and NPC(s).
2. Names of initial Player Character(s) involved.
3. Brief synopsis of your story or original plot.
4. Potential rewards to be awarded to participants.
5. Potential risks to be faced by participants.
The Game Master may ask you to adjust or alter your proposal, in order to ensure that balance and fairness are observed. When a final draft has been accepted, the Game Master will post it to the Modplans forum for record-keeping. Before peer moderation can happen, the Game Master must post a certification in the thread. This is accomplished using special Wiki Templates, specifically, the Peermod template. The format for using this template is as follows:
I will add this into your thread:
This Thread has been approved for Peer Moderation assigned to Peermod under the authority of Game Master Dignitas, as per the accepted Modplan Participants are advised that conditions and circumstances may be adjusted to ensure fairness and balance.
When permission is granted, peermods are able to moderate other characters, as well as moderate their own character, in the course of a pre-approved thread. This provides a player with an accelerated opportunity to assist with character advancement, plot progression, and expose new adventures.
Peermods can:
* moderate their own actions and consequences.
* moderate the actions and consequences of other characters.
* create non player characters and items appropriate to the pre-approved story.
* create new environments and atmospheres specific to the pre-approved story.
* present their storyteller characters as heroic protagonists or villainous antagonists.
Peermods cannot:
* moderate their own actions and consequences in threads that have not been pre-approved.
* moderate the actions and consequences of other characters who do not specifically seek out participation in the approved thread.
* create non player characters or items that are outside of the parameters of the pre-approved story.
* control the actions of characters without their permission.
* control the behavior of non player characters contrary to their stated behavior without pre-approval.
Below is a quick find table to match with people who have expressed an interest in moderation. Links go to the persons profile so that you can easily message them privately. This list will regularly update as more people express interest in peer-moderating.
Who: Eraisuithon Gil'dae Likes: I'm willing to help out by moderating training threads or perhaps a small adventure or something similar. I'll moderate for anyone, and new players need not feel intimidated or anything to ask me! Dislikes: I'm up for pretty much anything, except for Arcana! It's too finicky for my liking to mod. Speed: I can faithfully post once every day or two. Special:

What: I am an aspiring assassin, and would like to have someone mod me doing an assassination attempt. I should like to earn enough money to pay my rent, and perhaps even gain an XP for something (stealth, shortsword, or whatever happens to be appropriate).
When: Sometime in the first couple of cycles of spring.
Where: I suppose we would start with me joining some sort of Assassin's guild, or if there isn't one perhaps arranging a job in a seedy tavern. Where it goes from there would be up to the moderator and their senario.
Special: I don't mean to be a slave driver, and have no problem if my moderator needs to take breaks/attend to real life issues. However, if at all possible I'd like a moderator who could average more than one post a week. Is that reasonable? My other character's thread partners seem to average more like one post every 2-3 weeks, which really is pretty slow for me.
Hello Mixie, I would willing to do a thread with you. Also Drake Flowe is a aspiring assassin as well. He's trying to get a guild, or better name gang, going TET (The Eagle's Talon). If you would like to do a thread with me or is interested in possibly joining TET send me a PM.
I can't PM you until I reach 15 posts or you ascend to GM status, so I'll write you here. I would love to do a thread with you, and would be interested in joining your gang (assuming there isn't a huge local assassin's guild that will wipe us out as unwelcome competition).
