Eraisuithon Gil'dae is an upstanding Citizen
[LOCATION] Office of the Thane- Spring & Summer

The Office of the Thane, as busy as always, welcomed its visitors as it had for the duration of its opening thus far. Crisp air and the sweet smell of baked goods lazily drifted from the open windows of the kitchen while the foyer of the office held a warmth all its own. Business carried on, and with it the progress of the city under a new leader.

Imperia had many grand buildings if one could find the right perspective to look at them so. The Office and Residence of the Thane was one of those. Situated in the government district and flanked by trees perhaps more ancient then the city itself the Office of the Thane was a location of varied purpose. That is, a place where business, governance and the advancement of the city and its populace clashed with the duties as home to the recently appointed leader of the Imperia. Located only a short walk from the Governors Mansion, the Office of the Thane was built from a stately building that used to have some obscure bureaucratic function.

Past massive open wrought iron gates revealed the walk through the well cut front lawn, tall trees flanking the walkway all the way to the double doors that invited all who came here. The landscaping which had been kept to a minimum under the previous Thane's governance had been enhanced greatly under the guidance of the new lord protector. Whereas the path made of strange stone had only run straight to the doors under the shadow of ancient trees once before, it now branched off in many places to bring one to rich beds of sundry flowers and the occasional statue or fountain hiding among the pretty foliage of blooming plants.

Outside the large wooden double doors that held entrance to the building were two massive flags emblazoned with the seal of Imperia on the right, and the flag of the Sultanate of Arakmat on the left. A balcony was perched above, jutting out from the dirty gray stone building.

Inside the double doors was the main foyer, a place lavishly decorated with many rugs and candles. A large wooden desk was situated in the middle of the room with comfortable chairs to either side of the front double doors for any visitors waiting. A youthful Sylrosian man with long chocolate hair worked behind the desk only looking up when the doors opened. He greeted all who entered and announced his name to be Verilion, the Lord Protector's secretary. "Welcome to the office of Eraisuithon Nan'tathren. Please sign the visitor's book on my desk here and tell me about your business with the Office of his Grace."

Behind Verilion and between twin stone staircases that wound to the upstairs was a hallway that went straight back with rooms on either side. The doorways in the hallway revealed, if opened, a study, a small library, an entertaining room complete with chairs and dance space (only slightly smaller than a ballroom), and the kitchen. In the back was the Thanes office. Candles flickered everywhere all during the brightening and darkening, unaware of the window behind the Thanes desk and chair which faced the doorway. The place was well lit and held a giant map of Imperia to the left wall. On the Thanes desk were papers stacked high, a never ending rain of work. His Lordship, Eraisuithon Nan'tathren would usually be found seated behind the desk. A long row of tall bookcases were situated to his right parting a little to expose a small bar area. A trap door lay under the chair of the acting thane hidden beneath a rug that went down into the basement of the place, but was always locked.

If one chose to go up the stairways in the foyer they would find the private residence of the Thane. There were two guest rooms, the private room of the Thane himself, and the staff quarters. Also on the top floor to the left of the dark hallway that held all the private residence was a ladder that one could use to access the roof of the Office of the Thane. From this vantage point once could see all around the small estate.

The Office of the Thane was a nest of activity, but always found time for those who had business there.

It had been a considerably long journey for the messenger from Portshire, but certainly one borne out of necessity, at least in the eyes of his master. Although having a good understanding of many members within the Gil'dae House, the thane of Imperia was one he had yet to meet, Eraisuithon Gil'dae.

It had be quite a time since Xind'ell and a male Gild'ae had last corresponded, and indeed, much had changed since then. Truly, only the gods had the time required to ponder on how long it had been since the last great Imperial Marshall, Motito Gil'dae, helmed such an office, but if his family was anything like its former master, it was far from them to consider the fragile state of the new "Kingdom" as something to idly pray was successful. Not only that, but one of the Gil'dae daughters had attracted the Earl ways once thought unimaginable... and thus, rode his messenger to the Thane's Office, one of the few places were Riconus could only assume Erai might frequent.

The messenger rode atop his chestnut mare in the dark blue & light blue bicolor tabard of Xind'ell's ever-expanding militia, The Sapphire Guard. Such a garb was the only thing to distinguish him from any other passerby, for he chose to wear a light overcoat to combat the burning Imperian sun. It was only until he approached the inner sanctums of the thanal quarters that he finally dismounted, signed the visitor's book under "Captain Aneto Gav'brale, People's Sapphire Regiment of Portshire", and finally stated his business to the secretary.

"Serale, sir". said the messenger to the Syl'rosyan host. "I do not require an audience with Lord Gil'dae, I only wish that he present with this missive. It's humbly requested that he return correspondence to Mateus Villa in Portshire, whenever His Excellency is afforded the time."

The messenger departed shortly after delivering the message, which read as follows...

Secrets :

To Lord Protector Eraisuithon Gil'dae, Thane of Imperia
From Earl Riconus of Portshire, Thane of Portshire

Dead Lord Gil'dae,

We have never met before, but I believe much can be gained a combination of our interests. There are many reasons why I believe a meeting of our two minds would be beneficial, but perhaps the first would have to be to plea for your support in my marriage to one of your House's daughters. For the past while, I have had the priviledge of courting a cousin of yours, Larien Gil'dae. I am all but convinced that she can assist me in fulfilling everything I hope for in life, and as per tradition, I hope to ask for the Gil'dae House's permission for her hand. From everything Larien has told me, you appear to be her most beloved relative, as well as the heir to the patron rank of your family. Alas, it seems apparent that it is you that I must meet if I am to acquire such permission.

Before his absence, I also had the honor of knowing a prior master of your House, Motito Gil'dae. I proudly served under him in the Legions, and undertook initiatives he mandated... unfortunately, the Forum did not applaud our efforts, but rather, they scorned the power we acquired through the leadership we were able to bring to the Western Provinces. It is that degree of incompetency within certain key elements of the Empire - or so it was once powerful enough to label Itself as - that I would also like to discuss with you, and what your thoughts are for the future of Aelyria.

And certainly most vital to those we govern, I was hoping to establish newfound trade agreements between our two cities, as the cornerstones of sea trade throughout Aelyria. The battered and demoralised state of the current Legions has made trade routes on land extremely volatile... and since the Forum has seen no need to garauntee safe lines of commerce, it falls to us to ensure the stability of our economies.

I hope to hear from you as soon as it's convenient for your to reply.

Yours,
Sir Riconus Xin'dell, Earl of Portshire
