9th Candlemark of the11th Brightening of Cycle 2, Ioannes, Summer, Era XIII (pf)
Daren walked up the road towards the small employment office the Inn keeper suggested. His padded sandles lightly hit the ground, and all around him busy men and woman were rushing around, tending to their daily lives. It reminded Daren of the times when he would visit Archadoon with his tribe, and he still got the same feeling of excitement he did when he was but a wee child.
Reaching the doors of the office, he gently grasped the handle and pushed open the door and was met with a gentle hush. Chairs lined the walls, with clutered noticeboards lining the walls above the wall. Some of the papers on the noticeboards closer to the door fluttering with the air rushing in the opened door.
Slowly perusing the clips of available jobs, Daren noticed many of them required the ability to cook, or you must be a woman. Feeling he would soon find nothing, he found two available positions that may be within his abilities. He did not realy have any idea what the work entiled, but he was willing to try anything.
Taking the two slips of paper, one as an entrance staff at the University, the other at Le Socrates de Ambergois Institut pour la Recherchem he walked up to the front desk. He waited for a few minutes, before ringing the small bell to call the attendant forward. "Serale?"

Vokka:
Isabella had seen all sorts manner of creature in her time within the employment office…but the one that came through her door that brightening was defiantly one of the strangest. Tilting her head a bit, peering at the creature, she listened to what it was saying..finally figuring out that it was looking for a job.
“Of course, monsieur. We have a list of jobs zat we need help wiz….let me read zem to you…”
The girl didn’t know if the creature could read, so she was trying to do the nice thing and help. Hopefully something would strike his fancy along the way, but anything was possible.
Once she was finished, she smiled and sat the list down once again.
“So, anyzing that you might be interested in?”
Daren:
Different brightening, different clientele….that’s what Isabella always said to herself. Each brightening brought new challenges.
That particular brightening brought a baijani to her office. For the most part, Jaedaxia was free of the prejudices that ran rampant in other cities…with a few notable exceptions. Luckily, any form of human was far from those races and welcomed within the city.
Smiling brightly, the girl greeted him and gave her standard opening speech.
“Bonjour, monsieur. How may we help you zis brightening?”

Vokka sniffed intently as Isabella kindly read the list of jobs to him. They were mostly far beyond the Mottera's reach, although Vokka as Chief Justice would certainly put Jaedaxia in the news. Store keeping and lore keeping sounded far too dull to Vokka, and truth be told he had a good idea which of the jobs on offer were right for him.
"Vokka is new here, Vokka not know people, Vokka want meet people and help people and make Vokka-friends, lots of! Vokka could greet people at Universite and Institut! Yes yes, Vokka could do that!"
Vokka treated Isabella to a toothy grin, obviously pleased with his own choice.

Daren was a little offhilter at the greeting. He was still getting used to Jaedaxian language. "Uh, Bonjour. I'd like to know more about these two jobs. I hope for employment." He said, saying only as much as needed, before handing the two slips of paper to the woman.

Vokka:
Isabella, despite her initial wariness, liked the little creature and his enthusiasm. It made up for all the dull days she spent trafficking people here and there.
Quickly writing out the instructions to both places, she gave him the slip of paper and quickly verbalized the instructions, just in case.
“If you happen to get lost, anyone can point you in ze right direction. Ze buildings are very close together. Ze Universitie is where people take classes to advance zeir knowledge, while ze Research Institute is full of scientists. If you want to meet people, your best bet might be ze Universitie. If zere is anything else I can do to help, please let me know.”
She sent him off with a smile and promise to help him find the perfect job.
Daren:
She took the papers from him and looked over them carefully. It seemed that he was interested in the Universitie and Institute, which was good considering that they were in the process of being reorganized.
She quickly scribbled the directions to the two buildings out for him then handing them to him with a warm smile.
“ Here. Zey will be thrilled to see you. The two buildings are very close together. Ze Universitie is where people take classes to advance zeir knowledge, while ze Research Institute is full of scientists so you can take your pick of which you would feel more comfortable at. If you need any further help, please don’t hesitate to come back and ask. Is zere anything else I can help you with, monsieur?”
OOC: Here are the links for both of you since you are going to the same places. Go ahead and post in those locations, or whichever you prefer.

Vokka took the offered piece of paper, and with some difficulty fumbled it into a pocket of his cloak. This kind human had given him exactly what he was looking for, a chance to meet new people, intelligent people if her brief description was anything to go by. Vokka had an innate respect for those who were well learned, perhaps due to his less than academic nature.
"Thank you thank you pretty lady, Vokka says you most kind Vokka does! Vokka will help clever people who learn knowledge and want classes and will smile and thank Vokka! Vokka will help and show clever people and pretty lady how hard Vokka works!"
Vokka gave a clumsy little bow and shuffled off in search of the Universitie.

Impera, Summer, Era XIII, p.f.
The elf cautiously stepped into the Jaedaxian Employment office. He needed a job. Any job.
Sirimir strode up to a long list of job openings. He scanned the list, in case there was something that might catch his eye...
Suddenly, as he neared the bottom, the elf spied the lore keeper position. His back straightening, Sirimir strode to the front desk to a bright-eyed clerk.
"Hello, I am looking for employment through Le Librairie au dela de Candace du Rose. Do you know of any available positions? I am looking to make some money to enroll in the Universitie's classes."

Isabella smiled at the new face, happy that someone actually knew what he or she was looking for before they opened their mouth.
"Why certainly, monsieur! The library is always looking for sharp individuals to man the desks and point people in the right direction. Our libraries are always so busy and there never seems to be enough people around to help out."
She quickly wrote out the directions to the library and handed them to him.
"This is how to get to the library. Follow these directions and once you get there, ask for a Mademoiselle Rachelle. She will help you. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
She figured he would dash out the door quickly as he had the information he needed, but it was always nice to ask.

The elf grabbed the offered directions and gazed at them. He looked up, his angular elven eyes gleaming.
"Thank you kindly, milady. I apologize for the language, but, like I said, I will enroll in the Jaedaxian course at the Universitie once I have some money."
He returned her kind smile and paced out of the front doors into the glorious summer sunlight. Sirimir glanced down at the directions, looked left, right, and headed off to the library, a small smile dawning on his face.

Second cycle of Junctior, XIII PF
Tanith squinted at the tiny print on the boards and tried to decipher it from a distance. The writing shifted, blurred, disappeared into squiggly lines. She sighed and lowered her head to examine her outfit. However she did it, she'd managed to muster up the nerve to wear a skirt she'd sewn herself before leaving Taralon, and a decent-looking tunic. It was clean and neat, as was her usually unruly mane of hair. But there were still dark smudges under her eyes, and the tell-tale signs of hunger wearing on her face.
She was beyond caring.
When her turn came, she walked up to the desk and nodded in greeting. Lately she'd been forgetting to look down to hide her mismatched eye color, and the lash on her cheek. She spoke softly in the common tongue.
"Serale, miss. I'm looking for employment. I can sew well, and I have some experience with shopkeeping. Would you have anything for me?"

Isabella busied herself sifting through employment requests and notices of filled positions, busy as a little bee. As Tanith entered Isabella set aside one stack of papers as she finished marking them off with a quill. She flickered a smile up at Tanith before pulling at a master list and running her finger down the job opportunities.
"Oui mademoiselle, there are many shoppes looking for shopkeepers."
The employment office clerk pulled a fresh scrap of parchment and began scratching out a list of possible shops for Tanith to inquire at.
Grand Magasin d'Épicerie de Grerradus (Groceries)
Reposée du Meublante (Furniture Shop)
Le Maison Rose de la Dame (Ladies Clothing)
Les Provisions de Amerith pour les Aventures (Adventuring Supplies)
Le Magasin des Choses d'Émerveillement (The Shop of Wondrous Things)
Le Jardin d’Hiver (Herb Shop/Farm)
Isabella flashed another private smile up at Tanith and handed over the list of employers. She licked her thumb and rubbed at a spot on Tanith's cheek as she spoke. "You might ask at Le Maison Rose de la Dame if they are in need of a seamstress; you could also use a good scrub mademoiselle."

She simpered and shuffled a bit on her feet. The girl had caught a bit of dirt on Tanith's cheek. She must have missed it in her hurry that morning. Even through the weariness she felt the color rise in her cheeks.
"I'll inquire at the shop, if you would be kind enough to give me directions.." After a pause, she added. "Thank you...mah'mo'selle. " The word was a mouthfull, but Tanith would have to learn if she wanted to get along in this singularly odd city.

"Ah, pardon you are not from the city, I will make you a map mademoiselle."
Lithely taking the parchment back from Tanith Isabella snatched up the quill and made black lines denoting streets and landmarks. As she drew she spoke the places hoping the unfamiliar Jaedaxian names would not confuse the outsider.
"Le Maison Rose de la Dame is on this side of L’ Cloison de Pleurant. When you reach La Rangée Du Négociant it will be the large building made of pink marble. If you come to Quadratique du Ville you have gone too far." Smiling softly Isabella waved the parchment until the ink dried and handed it back to Tanith.
"Simple, oui? I pray you happy hunting mademoiselle."

Tanith blinked at the handrawn map. The street name she promptly forgot, but a large building with pink marble didn't sound easy to miss. With a little bow she took the paper from the girl's hands and forced a weary smile.
"Thank you."
She placed the paper in her pocket and shuffled out into the cold street.

First brightening, Junctior, XII PF
His first thought had been to visit the Aedile's office to shed some light on the crumpled old deed in his possession. But several of the cityfolk seemed to think he looked more in need of work, and so directions had been given always in relation to its proximity to the Office of Employment. After a quick bite to eat, Charles decided that it would be prudent to at least check the prospects.
In truth, part of him was still in no rush to seek out the old family apartments. Perhaps with an income, he could afford his own lodgings until he felt more... worthy? Or less haunted by the feeling that he had somehow betrayed his heritage and brought about the demise of his parents through neglect.
His ill-patched boots made a thwapping sound on the floor: they would have to be replaced soon. It was a time for many new things for the youth.
Slightly embarrassed, either by his ragged appearance or by the suspicion that others might read his guilt, Charles looked around the office. His bright eyes came at last to meet the glance of the competent-seeming woman there.
"Bon-jour, ma'mselle..."
The words came with some difficulty, but he would have to reacquaint himself with their rhythms soon.
"Excuse me. I- I am new here. I was told by several helpful folk that this office would help me find a way to earn my keep."
It sounded more like a question. Uncertainty tinged his voice just as surely as the flush he felt upon his face and neck would tinge his complexion.
