The Shepherd's Rest Inn

This ramshackle building stands on the north side of Trias square, directly across from the stockyard offices. Being aptly named, the clientele in the common room consists mainly of shepherds and their business clients, even in the off season. The common room contains a large fireplace along the north wall, a staircase immediately to the left of this. The strangest feature of the room is the large bookcase along the western wall. This is packed with a wild assortment of tomes both mundane and exotic. Treatises on sheep herding, tales of far off lands, and philosophical manuscripts form an unlikely combination of parchment and leather.

Several patrons lounge about in large chairs near the fire, most of them smoking a pipe or conversing with their friends in a quietly warm atmosphere. Most of those keeping to themselves are deeply involved in one of the books from the inn's library, the tomes being far out of the reach of most of the shepherd's means to afford.

At last noticing the newest denizen of the Rest, the innkeeper peers out from over the large counter on the right, his round face smiling eagerly. The man waddles out and towards you, clearly a person who enjoys his pracenda very much. "Serale, citizen. Need a room for the night?" he asks of his newest customer.

Walking into the establishment, Straylor smiled at his fellow innstayers and continued towards the bookcase. Seeing the wild variety, he reached towards the oddest looking tome and tilted his head to read its title.

It was around then that the Inn keep approached him.

"Oh, serale", he replied with a kind smile, "yes, a room for three or four brightenings please. And I an advanced order for Rosyun and Pracenda for the rest of my stay?" When things were in order he added, "do you happen to have a stables? My horse is outside."

"Pracenda's included with your stay, kind sir. Whatever we have cookin'. Rosyun, you'll have to talk to the missus about that. Room's 5 crowns a darkenin', stabling another two on top of that. For a short stay, that'll be in advance. If'n you check out early, I'll refund the balance, jus' come and see me before you leave." the proprietor said cheerily, always a businessman first, hosteler a close second. "Skender Ulrich, by the way, Mister...?" he added, offering a hand to his newest guest. "Show you to your room?" he asked, waving over one of the young maids sweeping the floor.

"Oh, see you've got my favorite book there, 'Everything Men Know About Women'." he added with a smile.

Should Straylor deign to actually open said tome, he would find it a short volume, comprised entirely of blank pages.

"Leonard", Straylor replied with a curt nod, "and yes please. I'd like to rest before I venture out into town." While they walked, Straylor counted off the necessary amount of banknotes to give the innkeep. He released a series of notes that amounted to fifty crowns and handed it to Skender with a smile. "I think this should cover my expenses regarding my stay."
