Ramblings and Ways over Hills and Vales (Open)
Timestamp- 30th of Immanis, Winter of Era I of the Celestine Mandate (current Pattern), Era XIII Post Fractum, The Eclipse of the Sun, On the Way to Mystique
A sharp breeze whipped a white scarf in the wind. The winter was gettting on and today was particularly windy. Though that didn't bother the owner of the scarf too terribly. A long thick wool coat wrapped around him hung alost to his knees, dyed a light brown color. Hands gloved in leather gripped a short staff. Under a wind blown mop of dark brown hair a man bearing an easy smile hummed to himself. He'd been long on the road and was closing in on the destination. Of course he hadn't even known the destination when he started but that was alright. Something told him to head west, whether instinct or wanderlust Gavin didn't truly care.
The suns were high overhead peaking through passing clouds this brightening. Well enough weather for a winter day. Gavin looked up and considered the time, still not quite over that now only two brilliant orbs shone down on the Empire. Nothing he could do about it though, a matter for gods and empresses. His gaze told him they were at their zenith, a good time to stop and have a meal. Gavin had a habit of starting to travel as soon as he awoke and packed up his tent. Rosuyn was a luxury that had to wait until he was further along.
It was time though as a grumbling in Gavin stomach suggested vocally. Making his way over to small copse of tree Gavin sat down on a reasonably flat rock. Sling off his sizable pack Gavin went digging though it. There was still a bit of everything left from the supplies Gavin had bought in Diana, though he didn't think he could stand more iron rations. But there was jerky, and even some gingerbread. A good meal that would make. Pulling some out he set to eating. The bread was probably better than the jerky, but Gavin didn't have many options to he couldn't complain. All in all it would be just fine.
Gavin ate quickly and was done before long. However he didn't feel like continuing his journey just yet. He had not found any good wood for a fire the previous darkening. Which while not truly bad in and of itself, lighting a fire provided a good chance to practice. Arcana, Gavin wished to master it but was but a little ways along that road. Still practice would do no harm until he could arrange for a new study. And why not now. He was feeling the cold from the day, and one of his spells while not a long term solution could certainly help out.
Leaving his belongings and moving a couple feet away to a patch of dirt Gavin stood with his arms at his side. Closing his eyes he summoned the flame he used for Meditation. It was far easier now then that first time he'd tried to use the technique many months ago in Archadoon. Yet it had worked then and would work now. Gavin threw himself into the flame, feeding it with the everything of his existence letting it grow larger and larger until at last it grew larger than he could grasp and Gavin was flown floating in a void nothingness. Minute passed as Gavin floated in the nothingness and then the world exploded. Even the dull days of winter came alive with a cornucopia of colors as Gavin entered clara.
Now came the spell. Four powers did Gavin know he could command in small ways. The one he wanted now was fire, the blazing radiance of power, heat purified. Drawing it too himself Gavin formed the flames into a aura about him. Wrap him in fire, surround with warmth that was the command. The spell was that of Inner Radiance, in theory a defensive spell. Yet Gavin doubt he would ever be in a combat situation where he could manage to actually cast it. Still though here at least in made a nice way to shake off the cold of the day. As the spell formed around him Gavin opened his eyes once more and sighed in relief. He'd cast it, not an easy thing to do for an Initiate. The fiery aura around him putting off heat in every direction at once. It seeped into the chill and drove it out easily. Still the heat would not last long, but for now the fire made Gavin quite comfortable.
