Can Traveling & Religion Mix? (Banodin Please)
TS: 40th Aperatis to 1st of Optia, Summer, XIV (pf)
Traveling Between Aelyria Prime and Zinn'Sunn
Seagulls wheeled overhead as a salty wind whipped across the deck of the ship. It was time. Aedemt Walt had let the boy grow used to traveling, let the excitement wear off, then he pulled forth his texts while he sat out on the deck of the ship "Waveskipper." The initial sea sickness had passed and they'd make for the Medonian port in a cycle or so. There was no better time to start, really. It would be a long journey, but one they would take to heart and learn something from. Walt had two topics for Banodin... the first was teaching him just who and what the Gods were. He had a gift for Banodin... a book called “Planar Metaphysics” by Tobias Khrognen, Gnome Sage. They'd start there, and work through the Pantheon of Aelyrian Gods. Walt would teach him both the Common names of the Gods, and the Kemite versions along with all the stories he could think of. It would take days... even weeks to work through the teaching.
"Lad, come here. I've something for you Banodin." Walt said, holding out the text. "Take a look at that and tell me what you think? It's time we started your studies. I'll cover cosmology and theology... which would you like me to start on first?" He asked, grinning. They would be tough subjects, but Walt thought the boy might rather like them.

Taking the book in hand, the boy smiled and sat down cross legged in front of Father Walt and began to thumb through the pages with an intense look on his features. After a half candlemark passed, that look of intensity had drifted more towards confusion and furrowed brow. The boy's eyes would lift from the pages to eye Father Walt but a moment, before looking back to the pages with a determination. Finishing the last page, the boy closed the book part way, before opening it back up, thumbing through it quickly, half closing it again, and then looking up at his Mentor.
"Ah... Theology...?" It was more of a question then a statement of fact in what the boy wanted to learn, this was going to be tough, he could already tell. The talk of various Planes, it was all a little confusing, and not exactly what he thought of when it came to being a Priest, of course, his Mentor knew best, so the boy would be a most attentive student. However, the talk of Arcana, in the section of Astral Planes, was very interesting, it piqued the boy's interest in seeing if it would be possible to learn the art of healing, to carry on the Light against the Darkness, by curing those that had been deemed lost... This was all in fact fantasy, the boy did not even know that, sadly, not everyone could pick up the art of Arcana, it was something that had to be unlocked... And a blacksmith's son from a small town outside of Prime, had to big of dreams for his small town stature...

Father Walt smiled. "The Gods are divided into three parts, well more if we want to get technical. There's the celestial Aetherians, those we primarily worship. They are all that are good, holy, and positive about the world. Then we have the Aeternians, who are the more sinister, malevolent, and distrustful group. Both have followers in equal and powerful measures. They are omnipotent, omnipresent and very powerful beings that guard the existence of the world and govern the Cosmology of the Universe. In addition to these two groups, there exists a third group called the Planetars, which are demi-gods that exclusively rule individual planes. Planetars don't have power in their own right, but derive it from the faithful who look to therm here on Telath." Walt said, smiling as he reined his horse around an obstical in the road. They'd be riding quite a while today, so he wanted to stretch the converstation out. "So, any questions?" He asked, then launched into his explaination on Aetherians.
"How the Aetherians are the Gods you see in most of the churches throughout Aelyria. The supreme being that governs all the Gods and indeed the heavens is Ioannes. He's the three faced god of Law, Order and Justice. He dictates the other Gods and keeps them somewhat under control." Walt said, smiling slightly. "Well, as much control as a parent can to children. They are often unruly." He confessed.
