A letter to Odyleon

TS: Optia, Summer, Era XI

A messenger with a letter came to Vers to a specific person. Mister Odyleon. The messenger was a lutran and found Odyleon's house relitively fast. In three brightenings! Stupid Vers was much bigger than Demios. Either way he found the one-story house with a garden that ran around it. He went to the door and knocked on it, waiting for someone to come out. When they did, he'd state the simple words. "Serale, I have a letter for mr. Odyleon." If the lutran was talking to the one he was looking for he'd simply give the letter, if to a servant, he'd give it to the servant. After that a small bow and he'd go back to Demios if there were no questions. The letter itself was simple with a red seal on it.

Quote:
Our dearest client, Mr Odyleon, serale.

We are writing to inform you of a small alteration with regards to the current revenue you are receiving per cycle through the Demiosian mines. We would like to reassure you that it is not something to become worried over.

It is with a small tinge of regret to announce to you, dear Mr Odyleon, that our mines are providing less yield of ores and gems, therefore resulting in a reduction in revenue. Due to this, it is the wisest move, in our best interests and in yours, to reduce the amount of Gold Crowns you receive per cycle in order to keep the mines running smoothly.

Therefore, with that motive in mind, we are happy to announce to you that in the interests of all our clienteles and us, your investment of 1,000 crowns, which previously provided a per-cycle yield of 110 crowns shall now be reduced to the new figure of 50 crowns per cycle. We sincerely hope you understand that without the reduction, our mines could face total closure, in which you may lose all your investment altogether.

The Demiosian mines company wishes you the very best of brightenings, and hopes to be able to bring you news for the best interests of both of us in the near future.

Serale, yours sincerely,
- The Demiosian mines.
OOC: If your investment or profit was not of those numbers, then send me a nudge!

Servants? The only presence other the house owner was the ubiquitous black horse, Mr. Galloper, quietly browsing upon Odyleon Q. Meiers' garden, which surrounded Villa Meiers with its... well, calling it a real garden was an overstatement, just like calling the house a villa. But no-one ever said Ody's judgment mirrored that of the average Allerian.

And so it was that our hero accepted the letter, opened the seal, and without too much pondering read through it, the color of his pale skin reddening proportionally to the amount of nonsense he was reading. Ody might not have been the wisest of men, but he certainly didn't lack intelligence, even if he didn't always use it in the most straightforward of ways.

Gyp! He was being gypped by the very company he had risked his life to help! Of course, living away from Demios, they believed he would have no way to check whether these claims had some shade of truth to them. Maybe it was true, but Ody still bore the scars of his last descent into the mines on his body, and this was plain bureaucratic stupidity.

The messenger, of course, probably knew nothing of the whole business, and the Human didn't feel like accusing a Lutran. Who knows, the furry biped might have slapped him with a fish or something. No, Ody said nothing to him and made his best poker face, clutching the heretical writing in his left, dominant hand. "Thank you, and be careful on the way back to Demios" he merely said.

But after he left, he stepped out of the threshold, treading on the wild weeds he had not yet bothered to extirpate, he called out his partner and companion. "Mr. Galloper! When is the next ferry to Demios?" The equine lifted his head from his meal for one moment, shook his head, and resumed his rumination.

There would be consequences, for there is no worse guy than a good guy in a bad mood.

OOC: The figures are correct.
