Trying to look as threatening as he could while the judge mulled the problem over in his mind, the Giant was still going to the unsportive way. Of course he still had to Open the box to beat his opponent but if he succeeded in terrorizing her he would stand a better chance of besting her, especially when talking about the initiate level where concentration wasn't the main forte. But upon hearing the start of the judge's words he knew that his attempt of unconventional winning did not turn out for the better and smiling to himself he wiped the blood off his forehead and closed his eyes.
Removing every bit of feeling or thought that even tried to enter his mind Drake started his ascention to Clara. Taking out all of the anger and amusement he felt, even the small amount of disappointment caused by the foiling of his plan to gain an edge in the competition. Some say it is foul play, others would claim it was down right cheating, but Sorcery was the sphere of Maj, the gods' general, and Maj favoured the winners, by any means needed. Sending his mind out and reaching towards his own personal representation of the Astral plane. Drawing confidense from the fact that he had constant practice of the two spells on a daily basis Drake let himself be engulfed by a sense of assurence that would both strengthen his spells and let him avoid stupid mistakes.
People without a sense of self confidense could never reach anything major in the practice of Arcana seeing as how one needed to be confident of his abilities to maintain Meidtation even in dire circumstances. How many times did Drake hear his master mentioning a former student that did not believe in his spells only to become a self fulfilling prophecy and miscast. When he finally reached the desired state the Giant started to draw, both from the world around him and from the plane of force, drawing it inwards to combine it with his own essence that eventually he could create Mana. Then turning his third eye, the one that could only see while he was in the arcanic trance, towards the box he started to examine the Lock like he did the last time, trying to figure out the best course of action.
